It seemed quite park-like with lots of shade trees and many benches throughout, the grounds were manicured in most places and shrubbery trimmed appropriately. I took some time to wander the grounds with no specific site in mind. At one point, I tried to find one or two specific gravesites but the markings here made that a bit challenging as i could not easily determine which section I was in. I'm sure if you know where you're going, you'd have no trouble. Most of the cemetery is driveable with wider lanes suitable for parking. I suggest you find a shady spot and then get out to walk. Please be respectful as there are families here experiencing loss. [Review 15812 overall - 1391 in Florida - 1316 of 2021.]

Myrtle Hill Cemetery Services Tampa 4202 E Lake Ave Tampa…read more I wanted to share with you how Lackadaisical attitude of Myrtle Hill with Processing the Burial of your Family's Matriarch after they were selected by your Parents over 60 yrs ago. My father died on May 28th, 2024. He was not buried until July 14th,2024 (44 Days)...It was blamed on the Health dept. "Computer Hack" and a death certificate was not able to be issued quickly. Maybe?? But, since then....August 9th,2024...The Life Insurance Co has still not received all of the paperwork necessary to Finalize the File and Pay-out to Myrtle Hill & the Family Members. So Myrtle Hill or the family has not been paid as of Aug 9th,2024 (72 Days from when my father's body arrived there!) We have called 2-3 times a week and always promised that someone will call back..(Never Happens) As of today Aug 9th,2024, the Life Insurance Co can not Finalize the Pay-out because of the Care-Free attitude of Myrtle Hill. They have not seen the process thru until. Jackson Insurance is the Insurance Co. blames the Myrtle Hill.. Myrtle Hill Blames the Health Dept and Jackson Life Insurance... NO ONE GETS THE BUSINESS PART OF A FUNERAL FINALIZED. Myrtle Hill was very quick about getting us to sign the Claim Form but from there, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. No Follow Up. It's a real shame to lose the Matriarch of your Family and not receive the care and attention that a family should receive and they have a "Don't Really Care" attitude. From the Death on May 28th,2024 until burial on July 14th (44 Days) and from July 14th until today...Aug 9th,2024 (another 28 days) and the Paperwork has not been Finalized....That a Total of 72 Days from when my father arrived there and this file is still not closed out. Very, Very unhappy about the Customer Service! After Myrtle Hill was chosen by my parents over 60 yrs ago....Only to leave us with this Final Memory. It's SAD ! Sad, Sad, Sad.

I am writing to wholeheartedly recommend Aikens Funeral Home for their exceptional service and care…read moreduring one of the most difficult times in my life. In November 2025, they handled the cremation arrangements for my mother, Dr. Arlessa Kubon, and I cannot speak highly enough of the compassion and professionalism they demonstrated throughout the entire process. From the very beginning, the staff treated my sister and me with patience, kindness, and genuine empathy. They took the time to answer every question we had, no matter how small, and provided thoughtful, professional guidance as we navigated the homegoing of our mother. Their support helped ease the burden during an incredibly emotional time. What truly stood out was their consistent communication and care. They checked in on us regularly, ensuring that we felt supported and informed every step of the way. In particular, LaCheryl Aikens-Guzman provided outstanding personal attention, going above and beyond to make sure our needs were met with compassion and professionalism. Their attention to detail and commitment to honoring our mother's memory gave us comfort and peace of mind. Aikens Funeral Home provides an invaluable service to the Tampa, Florida community. Their dedication to excellence, combined with their heartfelt compassion, makes them a trusted choice for families in need. I highly recommend Aikens Funeral Home to anyone seeking professional, respectful, and caring funeral services. Sincerely, Leslie Roberts II Charlottesville ,VA

They allowed unauthorized individuals to make decisions without confirming the true policy beneficiary, even though the information was available. It appears that personal relationships within the funeral home influenced decisions, and certain staff members, including Helena Green, acted in a way that raises serious ethical concerns. This situation has caused pain and confusion for our family and shows a lack of care, transparency, and accountability. Families deserve honesty and respect especially during such sensitive times. I strongly recommend others proceed with caution and make sure all authorizations are properly verified before using this funeral home.

I walked the cemetery and the preserve. I didn't inquire info or pricing of services.. A description of what I viewed while on the property is below along with several photos. The Heartwood Preserve is a medium size property and is essentially the same environment as Starkey Park. In fact, the most southwest corner of Starkey Park borders the Heartwood Preserve. The border fence can seen on the preserve trial which is probably a quarter mile long. I walked through the cemetery portion of the property viewing two graves. Small grave markers can be seen along the trail indicating gravesites. One grave not pictured was circled by pinecones with pineneedles a top. Each gravesite was directly beside the cemetery pathway (not paved) identical to many field like trials at Starkey where many fan shaped palm fronds are. The welcome center was staffed when I visited and a separate employee was tending to the grounds and politely waved and smiled. I learned a lot by walking the property on my own and will consider burial on these grounds.

Funeral are never a pleasant experience, but everyone has to deal with it in their lifetime. My sister's boyfriend chose this place because he worked with them before on his mother's funeral. I was introduced to Stacy who was coodinating my sister's final resting. She was knowledgable and sympathic. They also are a crematory, so the pricing reflected the absense of the middle man. Yes, prices vary greatly when it comes to these services. Just to be sure, I contacted Carmen at Gaita's who is a family friend. He agreed that the pricing was very resonable. Stacy handled all the arrangements with no issues considering the horrible Forida laws. Are you aware that if you pass away and want to be cremated in Florida, there is a 7 to 10 day waiting period. Also if you are transporting remains out of state, it must be send to a person. No, it cannot be sent to another funeral home, but it has to be to a PERSON. Again, thanks Carmen for allowing us to send it to you. They keep the temperature to a very cool level. There was plenty of water and tissues at our disposal. Since we did not hold services here, I cannot comment on that aspect.
