I brought my Lexus in for a minor tire leak, and their technician left my door open while operating the hoist, causing nearly $7,000 in damage and essentially ripping off my vehicle door. Their mistake is now permanently recorded on my CARFAX as an approximately $7,000 collision. Despite repairing the physical damage, the collision history has permanently reduced the value of my vehicle by an estimated roughly $4,000, and the dealership is refusing to provide any form of compensation for the diminished value. The dealership's position has essentially been: "we repaired the physical damage, so we're done". I contacted three other Lexus dealerships in BC, and all three confirmed that the collision record has reduced my vehicle's resale/trade-in value and that the dealership should be providing compensation for the resulting loss. The only solution management suggested is that when I eventually sell the vehicle, I could bring it back to them and they may consider paying more for it due to the incident, depending on an appraisal at that time. After what happened, why would I ever bring my vehicle back, allow them to appraise or handle it again, or do any future business with them? That is not a reasonable resolution. The original mistake was bad enough, but the way management has handled the consequences has been even worse: poor communication, repeated resistance, and an unwillingness to take responsibility for the full financial impact of damage caused entirely by their own staff. I drove a basically new, one-year-old Lexus into this dealership for a minor tire leak and ended up with nearly $7,000 in dealership-caused damage, a permanent collision record, thousands of dollars in diminished value, and a significant amount of wasted time trying to resolve an issue I did not cause. I am now having to escalate the matter further to pursue proper compensation for the financial loss. There are other Lexus dealerships in BC. I strongly recommend using one of them. UPDATE - DEALERSHIP RESPONSE: The dealership's response below does not resolve the issue. They acknowledge that my vehicle has suffered "accelerated depreciation," but then claim I have been "fully made whole" because they repaired the physical damage their own staff caused. Those two positions are contradictory. My vehicle did not have a ~$7,000 collision record when I brought it in. Their dealership caused that record, and I am now left with the resulting diminished value. Repairing the physical damage does not compensate me for that separate financial loss. Until the diminished value caused by their mistake is addressed, I have not been made whole and this matter remains unresolved.

I took it to a garage in town, and they charged me $300 to replace the gasket and studs on the front exhaust pipe. Three weeks later, I was on the Malahat Highway and all of a sudden my car sounded like the Beverly Hillbilly's car. Motorbike riders were jealous! And there was a bad smell of exhaust coming in the car. I went to Midas on Government Street and Rob had a look. It turns out that the job that was done 3 weeks earlier had come apart. Rob had to order parts and do the repair over. Now here comes the kicker: I was only charged $72! I was over the moon! This was my best garage experience ever.
