Heartbroken and Betrayed by Fountain Tire's Negligence - My Car's Engine Ruined! I'm utterly devastated and furious after my experience with Fountain Tire on SW Marine Dr. This shop turned my life upside down, leaving me with a damaged car, a broken heart, and a hole in my wallet. Plus a lost summer that my family can never get back. If you care about your vehicle and family, steer clear of this place--they've shown they can't be trusted. I'm writing this review with a heavy heart, shattered trust, and deep anger after Fountain Tire at 828 SW Marine Dr, Vancouver, turned my family's life upside down. Over four years, this shop's gross negligence, misdiagnoses, coercive tactics, and unprofessional conduct--capped by a vile insult --ruined my 2008 BMW 328i, cost me thousands, and put my wife, three-year-old, and infant daughter in grave danger. If you value your car, your safety, and your peace of mind, avoid this place at all costs. Their incompetence nearly cost me my family. It started in 2021 when I took my BMW to Fountain Tire for overheating. They told me that I needed a new thermostat without proper diagnostics, charged me 509.00, and sent me off with false assurances that the issue was fixed. The dashboard warning light screamed otherwise, but they shrugged, admitted they "tried everything to get the light off but the overheating was fixed," and let me drive away. The car hit 150°C, nearly frying the engine. A later dyno test revealed a faulty water pump they missed, costing me more time and money. I feel like I was robbed for 500 dollars. This aligns with another customer's experience reported on Google Reviews, where Fountain Tire at 828 SW Marine Dr, Vancouver, was criticized for a $400 battery upsell for a minor electrical issue that didn't resolve the problem. In both cases, the shop pushed costly, unnecessary repairs without addressing the root cause, leading to further vehicle damage and financial loss. In June 2024, it got worse. An oil change at Fountain Tire turned into a nightmare when they botched the valve cover gasket, causing all the oil to leak out in five minutes. My engine shut down, leaving me stranded. They towed it back, dismissed the risk of catastrophic engine damage, and offered no compensation or apology--just a quick fix and a wave goodbye. I lived in fear of hidden damage, and they didn't care. Reviews online echo this negligence, with others reporting loose dipsticks and shoddy repairs at this location. The final straw came in early 2025, and it's a wound that still stings. My car had gear-slipping issues, so Fountain Tire ran a $200 dyno test and pushed a $4,700 used transmission--almost the car's value. They called three times, pressuring me to agree to a deposit, and I caved, regretting not selling the car. Just 45 minutes after picking it up, my car broke down on a highway in a scorching heat wave, stranding my wife, three-year-old, and infant daughter, who has a medical condition that makes intense crying life-threatening--she turns blue and stops breathing. In the swelter, she wailed, and we feared for her life. Fountain Tire's partner tow truck arrived, and while I was on speakerphone, a staff member said "He's an idiot, get him 2 litres of oil " thinking I couldn't hear. No apology followed. They claimed the car needed oil, but it was already overfilled from their service. I added the 2 liters THEY BOUGHT AND HANDED ME! as instructed, drove 30 minutes, and the engine failed again--catastrophically--stranding us on the highway a second time. My infant's cries in the heat were a parent's worst nightmare, and Fountain Tire's oil overfill destroyed my engine, likely from foaming and low pressure wrecking critical components. Our family's only car is now a lifeless heap. This shop's pattern of failure is no secret. Google and Yelp reviews expose their overcharging (like a $400 battery upsell for a minor issue), misdiagnoses (a $1,200 brake job that failed), and rude staff (condescending attitudes and unapologized delays). Their C rating with the BBB confirms they don't care about accountability. I've lost thousands--hundreds on a useless thermostat, oil leak that gushed out like a ruptured artery, spewing across the engine bay in a catastrophic flood after the valve cover gasket blew, leaving my BMW 328i bone-dry and choking on its own guts in mere minutes. , and $4,700 on a transmission repair that led to engine failure. Worse, they endangered my family, my daughter, my little angel , Their coercion, lies, and that unapologized "idiot" insult stripped away my trust and dignity. I'm pursuing every avenue to hold Fountain Tire accountable, but no refund can undo the fear of losing my daughter or the loss of our only transportation. This shop is a danger to families, a betrayal of trust, and a stain on Vancouver's auto repair industry. Save your car, your wallet, and your loved ones--never step foot in Fountain Tire on Marine Dr. read more

I don't write reviews often, but this experience genuinely deserves one. In over 35 years of dealing with many of the top luxury vehicle dealerships in Vancouver, I never expected that a visit to Fountain Tire would set a new benchmark for service. Ironically, it was my 17-year-old son who recommended Fountain Tire on SW Marine Drive, simply because one of his friends goes there. I was admittedly apprehensive at first. However, the level of service and care provided by Vince not only exceeded my expectations--it surpassed most of the luxury car dealerships I've frequented over the years. There is always a lingering concern when visiting an auto centre that you'll be upsold or pressured. That concern never surfaced once. In fact, it was the complete opposite. I had 100% trust and confidence in Vince from start to finish, which is something I do not say lightly. The technician, Brody, was equally impressive--professional, attentive, and respectful throughout the process. Overall, my very first experience at Fountain Tire was beyond stellar. Exceptional service, integrity, and professionalism across the board. Highly recommended. Harmel S.R. read more

The worst possible scenario: my tire blew as I was leaving town and trying to make a flight in Seattle. I had to wait for a tow, I was so sad and distraught, but it was like the rain stopped and sun shown down when I arrived at fountain tire! Fountain Tire - Auto Repair Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Amazing, friendly service. I got a flat tire at the end of the day and they were the closest shop. What was so nice is that they put my spare on free of charge even though they couldn't fix it and it was greatly appreciated in my time of need. Thanks Alex! read more

For years, Fountain Tire changed my tires until I decided I wanted to learn to do it myself. The owner basically instructed me on everything I needed and how to do it. When I had questions, the staff at Fountain Tire always had advice for me over the phone or if I came in. They check the torque on the lug nuts and the tire pressure for free even though I don't pay them to change my tires any more. Recently I was going to get them to do some work that I thought was necessary (but it was not needed). They literally talked me out of the work even though I asked for the job to be done. I am continually impressed with their commitment to customer service and the fact that they continue to teach me so I can do a perfect job of changing my tires. read more

Wow. I'm impressed. I'm a local construction worker; a screw worked its way into my car tire and they took me in with no questions. 5 star service. SURPRISINGLY affordable. I'm not a great lover of expenditures on cars so I was a bit worried, and they exceeded expectations. Fast service. 100% re-installation while I waited. Couldn't ask for anything more. read more

Made an appointment 3 weeks in advance for 9am. Made sure to be there on time just to be told my tires hadn't arrived. They didn't bother telling me I guess. Told to come back at 3pm which I did and they said it would be 2.5 hrs to get my tires on because they were backed up now... read more

You see when you purchase your tires from Fountain Tire, there's a "lifetime" free flat repair at any of their locations. Fortunately this tiny location was very nearby when I got a flat. What's unfortunate is that at the time it seems their computer systems are not connected with their other locations. What does this mean? Well for one they couldn't verify that I did indeed purchase my tires at Fountain Tire. So when you purchase you basically have to keep your receipt with your car, just in case. I also thought they said they were the exclusive dealer for these specially made for them tires. Isn't that an indication that I couldn't have gotten them elsewhere, not even online? After some debating back and forth they finally agreed to fix my flat. Alas it took another 2hrs before that actually happened. Overall I'd stick with the guys who work at the Kingsway & Richmond location. At least they're friendly, definitely knowledgeable and much better at the customer service thing. Or maybe the key is to just stick with the location your purchased your tires from. In which case this free flat repair is pretty useless despite being in proximity of another location. read more

If you don't already have a trusted garage/mechanic it's okay I guess? I had a coupon/receipt for an oil change from nearby grocery shopping. Good promo, just questionable service. I asked at the start if they check stuff such as air-tire pressure in the spare-tire, etc. Dude said yes that's included in all oil changes. It was easy for me to check that they did not. So there you go, over-promise, under deliver... read more

After calling a few shops around the area, I had these guys put new tires on my 1990 Delica. They had the best prices, were able to get the exact tires I wanted to the shop that day, were more than happy to answer all my other questions, and they did an overall good job. I would definitely go there for tires again. Thanks guys! read more

Great service every time we have used them. We bought new tires and when we ran over a razor blade a couple of days later, they fixed the damaged tire right away with no extra charge. read more

Great service and experience! I got a flat tire nearby and walked in off the street. They were busy and the very friendly attendant said it might an hour or longer to get my tire fixed. I said I didn't really have a choice. They managed to get my car in right away and everything done is just over half an hour. read more

Awesome customer service Doug was awesome. Found out my rims did not fit my winter tires which I wanted mount and did not charge me.

The manager at Fountain Tire is an upstanding guy. I had been taking my company truck there for many years to get serviced, I was not sure if I was going to get the same great service. Being disabled I could not help my daughter, I sent her to Fountain Tire on 104 Ave. in Surrey and Iain the manager took care for her, above our expectations. Certainly recommend this location. We will be going back to get our tire service needs. read more

Had a flat at 4:30, I called and they said they could take me in before they closed at 5:30. Got there at 5:00. Rushed me through. I feel like a got the run around on the price a bit though. It cost 40 bucks. On the initial print out it said $30. The manager said that because i have a 20inch rim its more expensive because the tire is bigger. I feel like a got a fast one pulled on me there. He should have just put rush job, $10 convenience charge and i would have gladly paid it. However, instead im left with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. With mechanics this is often the case. Thanks for helping me last minute, but don't nickle and dime your customers or sooner or later you wont have any. read more

Got me in for a tire repair right away and took care of it while I waited this morning. The rate was reasonable and the guys even put my spare back in the right place and locked it down properly! Every shop I've been to in the past just through the tire in the trunk. It's this extra little bit of service that prompted me to leave a review :) Thanks for the friendly service guys. read more

Good place. Bought a set of tires, all season. They were done in a timely manner. I think they should consider doing an alignment when you purchase tires. But they don't. Instead they tried to up-sell me a brake job. My brakes are at 50% Seemed a bit silly to me. Still, I liked their work and would use them again. read more

I bought a online coupon to have a oil change and 30-point inspection done at this Fountain Tire. Overall no issues with the service, I had an appointment setup and I was all done and on my way in about 30-45mins. The inspection was very good as I double checked with my personal mechanic. They also gave me price quotes to fix the issues. I would go back if there was another coupon to buy, as I usually do the oil change myself. read more

I called around to different places to get quotes for new tires and auto service on a few things on my vehicle, then when I called Fountain Tire and spoke with Mucktar, Manager, he was absolutely fantastic and gave us a deal on our tires, as they were not the ones on sale, but he still went beyond to accommodate. I then told him what auto service I needed and he gave me the exact amount, including taxes and labor, and there was no hidden fees. I must say I am always nervous to bring my vehicle in for service as I have been scammed before, but after this experience I now have a shop I feel I can trust and will most definitely recommend to family and friends! :) read more

Very poor quality service. Twice burned. I took my Mercedes in a couple of years ago for a complete brake job. I got the car back the next day the brakes were squealing. I had to take it back and they made some excuse why it was making the noise but fixed it correctly. I took my Honda Element into the same place a couple of months back. to check on the brakes as they were making noise. they replaced the brakes pads but said the rotors were fine. Sure enough there was a squeal. I called them back and they said I needed to book an appointment. I got a spot a few weeks later along with switching my car to snow tires. They swapped my tires but said they could not hear the brake noise. I'm pretty sure they were so busy they didn't even spend the time to take my car for a test drive to determine the noise. Within 5 minutes my brakes were squealing. I email them but waited a few weeks not response. Will be taking my car to a proper auto repair shop that can fix a car properly the first time. read more

Few days ago called Fountain Tire asking for the price for oil change. He told me "$49.95 including tax". Went there today & and in person asked the asian guy how much for oil change, he told me again "49.95 including tax". After the work was done he gave me a bill of a little over $62. There were extra charges for environmental fee, service supply charge, and hst! I asked him about the price differences and he said no he never told me the hst was included, and he would never say that. That place is a scam or at least the asian guy was. Anyway got ripped off by that place there. That asian guy flat out lied, he wasn't upfront with the actual price. I never had to pay so much just for a simple oil change ever! Oh yeah there's a slight sound when the car's in drive now, which i didnt have prior to the oil change. read more

Calgary Fountain Tire on 37th Street SW One of the biggest disappointments of the year. I went into this location to get a tire repaired and in turn they did the repair in two hours...two weeks later the tire need to be repaired again so I stop by and they had no time to do the tire that day and in turn I could not make an appointment - so I come back and they said they would look at it - 6 hours later - still waiting for my tire. I would expect that since they did not repair the tire properly in the first place I should not have to wait for six hours for them to re-do their original work. Absolutely pathetic service read more

I took my truck for wheel alignment, I came back with traction control lights on, at first they asked if the light was on before which obviously wasn't, then they managed to turn it off and hand the truck back to me, but now the light is back on and even wheels still not aligned, truck pulls to one side, they said I have to purchase 4 new tires to be able to fix it and not pull to the side,my tires were 5 month old, I will not recommend anybody going there. read more

I did a fair amount of research to find the best bang for my buck for new tires for my 2003 Accord. Fountain is having their 4 for 3 deal and Goodyear is also offering a rebate so the price paid for the tires I wanted was pretty darn good. I went to the Fountain website and got an all-in quote. I emailed them a week in advance telling them that I was interested in booking an appointment with exactly what I wanted. I received an email from the Store Manager with an appointment time that matched up with my request. I encountered two of the staff (one technician and one from the office) and both were friendly and attentive. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't receive a call mid-service to say that I could do for additional services like an oil change or brake job. I received a call 67 minutes after the beginning of my appointment saying my car was ready to go. My first experience with Fountain was a very good one and it won't likely be my last. read more

My front tire was flat so I called and just asked the guy what I should do. He was really friendly and said I could bring it in right away and they would look at it. So after putting my spare on- which also turned out to be flat- I had to get my room mate to drive me there with both tires. I have very little vehicle knowledge and am always wary of shops being able to take advantage of me, but I handed over the tires (after he advised me it would be expensive if i had to replace the donut) and he said it would take about an hour. Went home and not half an hour later he called and said they were ready. It may have just been a slow day but they were able to work on it right away. Not only did they call me as soon as they were done but when I showed up to pay he told me 'not to worry about it' because they just found a small leak in my tire and sealed it, and the donut had just lost air because it was old so they filled it. Everyone I dealt with was very friendly and the whole process was done efficiently. read more

When trying to get to YVR to catch a flight, I was near this location when my car started overheating and steaming. I realized I probably wasn't going to make it to the airport and pulled into this location for some help. I was already running late and was worried that I would miss my flight. When I pulled in, I was greated right away by the manager. I was rather flustered and explained the situation to him. Right away, he had a technician pull my car in to check it out. As it turned out, the problem was quickly diagnosed but unfortunately, my flight was leaving inside the hour and there was no way the repair would be completed that quickly. Within minutes, arrangements had been made to get me to the airport and ensure that my car would be repaired by the time I returned from my short trip. Not only did they get me there in time, but they picked me up from the airport upon my return. Admittedly, I don't know much about cars and at that point I would have accepted anything they told me. Imagine my surprise when I get back to the shop and the invoice for repairs was less than the original estimate. I was absolutely overwhelmed by the way in which this situation was handled. I have never had such a positive experience when dealing with car repair problems. This place does it all. Myself and my husband now go here for all our car problems or needs. I have also recommended this facility to all my friends and workmates. I have finally found a mechanical shop that treats me how I wish others had in the past. read more
