Speaking on behalf of many customers at the time when my partner and I dined here, I can safely say that they were very understaffed because we got served very late, waited for a long time to get our food, and had to ask many times for our needs to be met. Even though we were in a good spirit, I could see how the lack of service would drive other customers mad. Since we decided to not go for fried chicken on that day (Monday), we were told that we could only order the soup or the salad, so we ordered all 3 of them. The la salade maison, which really just meant house salad in French, was okay, because it was just a mixture of watery vegetables, which would be very hard to say that it's exceptionally good. The pear salad had so much arugula and definitely not enough pears for the price. The goat cheese was crispy fried pretty well, though. Finally, the gumbo was too oily and watery, as the roux wasn't sufficient in defining the texture of the dish. It also didn't have enough rice, chicken, or andouille in general. My partner did not like its flavor, citing that it didn't have the right kinds of seasoning. While I understand that for those that have credits, this may be one of the few restaurants in the hotel where the credits can apply, I still wouldn't recommend it here. The only grace I will give is that it looked like people's fried chicken dishes were tasty, even if I did not have any. Once again, service needed a lot of improvement, for those that care about it.
We celebrated my daughters birthday at The Fountain Lounge right before the ballet across the street. Very convenient location and great atmosphere at the Roosevelt Waldorf. It was the best hotel restaurant I've ever been too. Great French cuisine and lots of variety. We tried Foie Gras for first time! Really liked it! It came on top of prosciutto with orange glaze and thin slice of homemade gingerbread - lots of textures and unique blend of flavors. For appetizers we also had a beautiful and delicious charcuterie board with cheeses, fruit spreads, dried fruit and candied nuts; Pear and Warmed Goat Cheese salad; and their homemade breads with three types of butter. They even brought out great toasted gluten-free multigrain bread for me. The Chef is very good about accommodating allergies. They have a lot of "gluten-free" dishes clearly marked on their menu and are very good about changing dishes slightly to accommodate a gluten-free need as well without compromising on flavor. For our main dish we had a unique twist on the classic French "steak and frites". The steak was very tender flavorful slices of sirloin, and the "frites" was sort of like layered potatoe slices and cream square. The chef made the night very special by bringing out a personalized Red Velvet birthday cake for my daughter, a dessert that came very recommended. My kids said they thought it was the best they have ever had - lots of flavor but not too sweet. They even had a gluten-free chocolate lava cake. It was a wonderful dinner!
Our second try at the lounge before departing that morning, was an absolute success! Our server did a tremendous job! We were so very happy with their professionalism. Our food came out of the kitchen, hot, delicious, with a picture perfect presentation! One of the best values of staying here at the hotel! Highly recommended!
Nice ambiance and staff was wonderful, friendly and it felt like she really wanted us to have a wonderful experience. I ordered the avocado toast which was good but needed hot sauce to spark it up. My husband had the smoked salmon bagel. This was excellent with lots of salmon, cream cheese on the side and veggies? The beet juice blend was great as well. The beignets were good but.... Definitely a good place to go for breakfast at the hotel.
We had to order room service since we checked in late so I cannot talk about the presentation and the ambiance. However, we loved the pork chop and the sides. My husband also liked the burger though I don't think it was anything special hence the 4 stars. I think the true highlight for me was their famous Roosevelt beignets! You can also get this from the Teddy Cafe, that's also located inside the Roosevelt Hotel. But it was the best one I've ever had! Just enough crisp on the outside and soft doughy inside! The dark chocolate sauce was a perfect balance of sweetness! $10 for 3 pillowy beignets but you can taste the quality of the ingredients!
It was fine! The best part about my meal was the cucumber salad I think and if you have the option to do the buffet, I would choose that! Not a bad deal, though if you've got free credits while staying at the Waldorf
This is in the lobby of The Roosevelt Waldorf-Astoria hotel we had breakfast here several times during our stay. Each time, Lukisha (hostess) greeted us and seated us with such a cheerful smile and friendly hospitality. Gerryelle (waitress) was also cheerful and attentive. Coffee came out right away. We did the buffet because it was amazing and includes the unbeatable omelette station with Michelle. The first day I was mesmerized and spent a good five minutes just watching her take orders for omelettes while cooking on three burners and getting every single order right. The omelettes were beautiful and served hot. I have no idea how Michelle was able to take individual orders and cook at the same time. We really loved the vibe of this restaurant--so clean, comfortable seating, lively but not too loud, nice jazz music (not live) playing in the background. If you stay here or nearby, you should check this place out.
The breakfast here is excellent! Happily ate here 3 breakfast in a row, getting the crawfish omelet with a coffee each time. I also did a dinner here, getting the bread service and Poisson Nantua, again, fantastic! The waiters and waitress were always lovely, and the ambience of the of the restaurant was comfortable; a bit fancy, but my wife and I could still dress comfortably.
I would love to tell you how great this place is. Honestly. Would. I'd love to say that everything tasted amazing. Sadly, I cannot. After waiting 30 minutes for a table, everything we wanted on the menu was unavailable. They were out of each item we tried to order. After several tries, we Thought we'd finally ordered at least a desert they had available (Wanted the Walnut Toffee Tart, no luck) so the Chocolate lava cake that's served with the vanilla ice cream it was to be! Well, we were later told that they were out of vanilla ice cream. (Who runs out of vanilla ice cream!?? lol) It was apparently a busy day/night. So, I can only tell you that our Server was patient and friendly. He was honestly great. (Thanks Jimmy, you earned them the star) The restaurant itself was quite loud. There was a live singer and piano player, who were very good. But the noise level from the other patrons was at a level that you couldn't give them (the entertainers) the attention they deserved. This threw off the nice ambiance you would expect here. We did order one of the holiday drinks, the Cookie Cocktail and decided when offered to try the Chocolate Lava Cake with strawberry ice cream. I can now give you an honest review of these two items. The Chocolate Lava Cake was a couple of things. The first being, cold. The second being that it contained nothing that could be called lava. It was more like a round, cold, dense chocolate muffin-like desert. I didn't like it at all. The Cookie Cocktail was however after the first couple of sips, was slightly better. It took a minute to be palatable. Tasted a bit medicine like initially. All in all, I'd pass on this lounge and hit one of the others in the area. We were staying at the Roosevelt, so opted to try it. Now we know. We were quite dissatisfied and disappointed. Expected much more from a Lounge in a Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
Ordered the Sazerac and aviation cocktails, both were delicious. The Sazerac was the best I've had, it is definitely the drink to try! It is a bit pricey $21
We were staying at the Roosevelt and had to give the Fountain Lounge a try. We were seated quickly and after reviewing the menu felt the options were rather limited. We ended up having the Grilled Redfish and Hanger Steak Fritters. The grilled redfish was great and surprisingly it came with shrimp. And our steak fritter was perfectly cooked to our preferred medium rare. The service was spectacular, but the food, although great, was not as impressive it should be for the price.
Service differed per staff. Some staff were excellent and exhibited excellent service, while some staff could use reminding of the importance of customer service when servicing customers. Enjoyed dinner here on Monday. The service, food, and atmosphere were great. On Wednesday, we decided to have breakfast here. While the lounge was not crowded and there was no one other than my husband and myself waiting to be seated, it took the more than sufficient staff longer than 10 minutes to seat us. There was absolutely no greeting or response to my greeting. We ordered coffee, and by the time we chased someone down for cream, the coffee was no longer hot. A young woman asked (almost under her breath) if we were ready to order. We gave her our orders, and she walked away. Her attitude almost seemed bothered even though we were as kind as we could be (I never express dissatisfaction in eateries for fear my food might suffer). Fortunately, things picked up, and the young woman who refilled our coffee was very kind as well as the gentleman who served us our meal. The breakfast was very good and more than met with my expectations.

I visited the Fountain Lounge inside The Roosevelt New Orleans for dinner during my stay, and it was a great experience. Not only is it convenient when you're staying at the hotel and don't feel like venturing back out into the city, but the food is genuinely delicious. My first evening, I started with the beignets and ordered the redfish for dinner. The redfish was incredibly flavorful and easily one of the highlights of my meal. I also enjoyed a delicious Moscato. On another evening, after having dinner elsewhere in the city, I returned for dessert and ice cream. The restaurant was undergoing renovations during my visit, but the staff did a great job accommodating guests and providing excellent service despite the work taking place. New Orleans has endless dining options, but sometimes after a long day of sightseeing or work, having a quality restaurant right inside your hotel is priceless. The Fountain Lounge isn't just convenient--the food and service make it worth visiting. If you're staying at The Roosevelt or simply nearby and looking for flavorful food, good wine, and welcoming service, I definitely recommend giving the Fountain Lounge a try. read more
The food was amazing and my sangria was perfect. I had a beyond burger with avocado and all of the original items that are on the regular burger. The service was excellent and when something was wrong with my friend's steak, she was unhappy, and the manager came right out to speak with her. He ended up camping all of our drinks to make sure the group was satisfied. The music was upbeat and a great selection for the evening. We were invited back for breakfast the next day and we left happily and full. The service was impeccable. Please stop in here and have food drinks and dessert. You won't disappointed. read more
I've been to a lot of hotel restaurants before, but Fountain Lounge is surprisingly one of the best I've been to and the staff really do seem to care. The quality of the food is very good here and I dare say the prices are mostly comparable to similar sit-down restaurants in NOLA. How many hotel restaurants can say that? Certainly not any I've been to in NYC (I'm looking at you, Hilton Midtown)! They also seem to have a good kitchen staff and/or a good chef leading them, because food here is consistently good. And if there's any issues, the venue has been very good at taking care of it without making it painfully awkward. The drinks are the only thing that may be on the higher side, but it's still decent compared to their more classic bar right next door, and they do have a Chef's Happy Hour from 4-6pm. Some of my favs from this spot has been the Jumbo Lump Crab Benedict, Butternut Squash Vichyssoise (I added Crab Meat), and the Gulf Redfish Amandine. Mmm, I love a place that does a crispy skin fillet and can execute it well! I've also encountered many different staff members and they've almost all been very professional and warm, with the exception of one during mornings, but she's certainly not enough to ruin my enjoyment of the Fountain Lounge. In addition, the only dish I really disliked here was the breakfast Steak & Eggs. The scrambled eggs weren't my favorite, although certainly a step up from most Hilton breakfast buffet scrambled eggs, and the hanger steak was so tough, despite being perfectly cooked. I'm sure it didn't help that it seemed to have been sliced with the grain, but maybe I just don't know my steaks and should avoid this cut of the beef in the morning? The server didn't check up on my after I had an opportunity to have a bite, but c'est comme ca. They also do seem to rotate out the menu items for the Chef's Happy Hour, which was a nice surprise on my final night here. I got to try their Charbroiled Oysters and the Chicken Bites. I've never had Charbroiled Oysters before, but heard it's a Louisiana specialty and it wasn't certainly worth trying. Did you know Louisiana produces 70% of the oysters in America? Chicken bites were a bit on the salty side, but it well very juicy and lightly crisp with a tasty herb creme fraiche. Last thing I want to mention is that they have potato dauphinoise as a side, which I rarely see on any menu. Can't imagine the work of all the thinly sliced and layered potatoes, enduring it's also baked thoroughly through. Yum! read more

The Roosevelt Hotel was awesome. I loved the Fountain Lounge. Really fresh healthy food. Our server T was very attentive and effervescent. I loved my lobster remoulade it was incredible. read more

While visiting NOLA and staying near this beautiful hotel we stopped in on our last day for breakfast. When we got there, there was only one couple currently dining and two servers standing around chatting with each other... they looked over at us waiting at the entrance a couple of times, but still seemed to wait a minute before greeting us and directing us to a table. From there on, service was great though. Their menu is nice, some of the basic breakfast items, but also some items unique to the area. The items we chose were actually nicely prepared and tasty. Their egg white andouille omelet was great! But the biscuit I got with it was a rubbery mess, like it was heated up in a microwave, definitely wasn't fresh. The breakfast potatoes were really tasty though. Overall, it's a basic "hotel breakfast" and nothing special enough to warrant coming here from another luxury hotel to experience. read more
I have dined here before and the breakfast is average at best. For the price unless you have a food credit it certainly is not worth it. I am not sure how they can make eggs that taste average but so it is. I did appreciate their beignets which were warm. Service was much friendlier than my past experience so that was a plus. read more
Debated between 2 and 3 stars, solely just because of how incredibly understaffed they were last night. At one point the hostess gave us our drinks and said "I'm so sorry this is my first time doing this, I'm just the hostess, we're short people today" Sucks giving somewhere such a bad review when it's clearly because of understaffing, but I just had to do it. That aside, holy moly the seafood fondue was TOP NOTCH! So freaking good! Their Rose cocktail was delicious as well as their espresso martinis! read more
Stayed at The Roosevelt & ate at the Fountain Lounge four times. Our first night here we tried the crawfish fondue & it was delicious! What a great recipe! Compliments to the chef on this one! My husband had the burger, which was just okay, and I had the salad with grilled chicken, which was on the small side but very tasty. We had the breakfast buffet the next morning, and it was fabulous! Made to order omelets, and everything else you can thing of to go with them! I especially Loved the Brie with dried fruit and nuts. We went back Monday expecting the buffet only to find out it's just on the weekends. How did no one mention this!!!. I had a bagel instead, but my husband really enjoyed the big breakfast to include the fruit and beignets. I ended up saving one of the beignets and enjoyed it in the room that night with a cup of hot tea. It was right up there with the rest of the beignets in town, pretty darn good. The next morning my husband had the crawfish omelet breakfast. He said it was okay, but I noticed he didn't finish it. I had the grits with cheese & they were magnificent, along with a bowl of berries that were very tasty as well. I don't remember all of the servers names, but I remember the best, Camilla, she was amazing! She was so friendly and efficient with attention to every detail. We didn't have her on the last day & ended up asking twice for a hot water refill for tea, and to my husband's disappointment a warm-up of coffee was never offered. The hostess, April, was never pleasant, never gave a proper greeting, and NEVER smiled, but ANY help is impossible to find right now so I imagine that's why it's tolerated. Because of this, one unfocused server, and a sparse dinner menu I give it 3 Yelp stars however, "some" of the food is definitely at a 5 Yelp star level! The Fountain Lounge has a lot of good things going for it, but a tiny bit more attention (ask for customer feedback) could make it great. read more
Searching for a place to eat on a busy Saturday night in NOLA landed us here. It wasn't our first choice but lots of places were full and walking around with a toddler is challenging enough. Not a large menu with under a dozen items to choose from. They do have an extensive wine menu though. I don't get to eat blue crab often so when I can find it on the menu I'm going for it. Caviar was a fancy touch. The toast itself was a little overdone for me. Hence why I could t give us a 5 star review. Service was nice and the pianist made our evening complete by inviting our son to sit next to him and playing his favorite song. Thanks Leslie! read more

Great food and atmosphere. Very classy. To top it off, Eddie, the host, played piano for us (and he is an amazing pianist who played 90s classics from Whitney, KC & Jojo, Boyz II Men, etc. Definitely will come back next time I'm in NOLA! read more

After dinner we were gonna got to the Sazerac as we enjoyed it there the night before, but they were full, so we came here as they were pretty empty. We were greeted & seated instantly near the bar as we had just wanted to get some drinks. Our waitress was very nice & mentioned to me that they had just changed up their drink menu & the drink I had selected has not been a hit among customers & she wouldn't want us to waste our money on something that wasn't good. She asked me what type of drinks I liked to which I said sweet & she suggested a few of the popular ones. I don't remember the name of the drink, but the fact that she said it tasted like key lime pie, I was sold. We didn't wait too long to get our drinks, the bf got a vodka lime & then mine came with the foam on top. Took a sip & she was right! It wasn't too sweet which was great, even the bf enjoyed it. Not sure what was in it, but I would definitely order that again. Thank you to our waitress for making those suggestions, I wish I remembered her name! read more
