First of all, I understand the need for food banks--the last statistic I heard is that 1 in 3 children goes hungry here in Maricopa County. That fact is heart breaking and I know that there are a lot of generous folks out there who contribute via the postal drive, food drives, and other methods. What I DIDN'T know was how the process worked; how the food was distributed and how clients were notified. Our little team bagged over 25 tons of food, hygiene items, and kibble in 6 hours and it was a huge undertaking that left me sore for the rest of the week ;) In meeting and talking with key staff members, I was so taken by their passion for this cause and by the respect shown to the folks they serve. Food insecurity is stressful enough without having one's dignity insulted and it did my heart good to see folks smiling as they selected the products going into their food boxes. They had personal shoppers AND got their groceries unloaded for them too. Desert Mission also partners with Crooked Sky Farms to introduce fresh produce into the mix. There were some gorgeous veggies available, along with treats for the little folks. All in all, it was a really eye opening experience. I am already looking for other ways I can help the deserving organization. Check them out!

I was denied by the supervisor stating that I had already received food twice this month. I am NOT a food stamp recipient, in fact I was on the phone with DES at the time that I was called up and informed him of that fact. I am attempting to help my family any way I can. The supervisor denied us even an emergency food box. The heartless guy referred me to St. Mary's Food Bank which is many miles away from Desert Mission (where I was after having waited in line), even more miles away from my home. End result, I was unable to drive the extra 10+ miles to get to St. Mary's. I have very little gas, absolutely no money and a bald tire (very unsafe to make that trip). My family will go hungry this evening and this completely unacceptable. If the option of ZERO stars were available, that's what my review would firmly be after this inappropriate conduct.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve the community while also representing an organization dedicated to service. I also want to give a special shout-out to the St. Mary's Food Bank staff for their exceptional organization and warm welcome. Joseph, in particular, was fantastic. He made the experience lighthearted while still keeping us in line (pun not intended) and he even took song requests from Prince Fans (Purple Rain). Thank you to the entire St. Mary's team for all you do, and for providing opportunities that not only support the community, but also help other teams grow stronger together. Since 2016, this non-profit diner has been directly supporting homebound cancer patients through sponsored meals. The menu is deep, and the food is incredible! And honestly, I feel confident with all of their options. The place was packed and everyone looked satisfied. I ordered the chilaquiles which were a delightful offering of crispy tortilla chips covered in earthy red chili, topped with a velvety poached egg, on a bed of hearty pinto beans that had a hint of cumin, all which was drizzled with a rich crema and crumbled queso fresco. My dad had the Rueben and he said it was in his top-three he's ever had! Even during the Saturday brunch rush we were seated promptly, the kitchen was swift and our waitress was kindly attentive to our needs. We will definitely be adding this fine establishment to our short list, and can see why this is a community staple.

We finally decided to try the diner, and oh my goodness--this is no substandard food kitchen. This is top-notch food at reasonable prices and for a great cause. You can't go wrong! We arrived on a Sunday at their new location, which is super nice, VW bus and all. :) While relatively small, it is many times larger than their old location around the corner. You can sit inside at a table, at the bar, or at one of the few patio tables on a nice day. We sat inside for this first visit, and a friendly server took our order. We chose to order from the breakfast menu, and I ordered The Camper: Crispy double-dipped fried chicken thigh smothered in savory gravy and topped with cheese, three slices of Nueske's peppered bacon, and an over-easy egg, served on a housemade butter biscuit. My wife ordered the CSA Scramble: Farm-fresh veggies from Crooked Sky Farms CSA basket scrambled with three eggs, served with fruit, sliced tomato, and 9-grain toast. Needless to say, we were both impressed. The Camper was absolutely perfect. I would not change a thing. The gravy was just special, and there was so much food, I took some home. My wife's dish was fresh and perfect for what she was looking for. Do consider donating to this worthy cause. We chose to, and you can even donate right on your bill so that it goes right on your credit card if you so choose. But even if you just pay for your meal, you are helping out, which is so great about eating at this place. Do yourself a favor and stop in to see the friendly people at The Joy Bus Diner!

Huge store so give yourself plenty of time for searching especially if you are going for clothes,…read morethey have bins that are by the pound in 1 section and regular store of course. The clothes are not sorted by size more by type like short sleeve long sleeve etc. I was looking for a fancier dress I'm only going to wear once and didn't want to spend a fortune it's cheap to buy here and get it dry cleaned, then elsewhere. Lots of knick snacks, collectibles, books, dvds, etc. Prices are fairly low they have sales tags too. Highly recommend

I tried on 8-9 pants of men and women cuz I had to get a pair of khaki for a work thing. I got an $8 pair that had half price color of the day so it was $4. Everything I got was only a couple bucks and all nice stuff. 2 travel cosmetic bags, small purse super cute and I'll post pics. They had a lot of great belts, actually leather. Lots of dog harness and dog items. It's a great store. THEY ACTUALLY HAVE 3 dressing rooms so you can try stuff on. Thankful and grateful cuz I was there an hour trying on every khaki pants I could find. I wandered thru the buy by the pound fenced off section and everything over there looked newish, clean, ironed. It's a really beautifully selected curated store. It's a definite must stop in.
