The education is top notch, they do prepare your children for high school. Ms. Weber is the middle school teacher for social studies and she is amazing. My children are learning the Articles of the Constitution right now. She brings history to life. During the first week of school at CLS they did a lot of team building activities and it brought the students together, from that moment on my children had friends. The kids are great and I have not seen or heard of any bullies. The sports program may not have a lot of practices, but I think it so kids are able to do other activities outside of school, which most do. I think the two coaches my children have had in after school sports have been great role models. Thank you CLS staff & coaches for being so kind and patient with my kids. It is wonderful to see all the teachers model true Christ like behavior.

As a second grader, she is more confident and accurate with math. She goes 5 days a week one hour each day and never complained about going to Mathnesium. She actually enjoys going there which makes everything 100x better as for parents. I have two more kiddos at the age of 5 and 4. When they are old enough, I am definitely enrolling them to Mathnesium. Hopefully you guys have some sort of family discount because it gets pricey, but well worth the money. You will have our business until all my 3 kiddos finish high school.

When the state changed over to Common Core, my daughter was going into 4th grade. The new…read morestandards were applied differently for grades. Ideas that were previously taught in 4th grade, were now going to be taught in 3rd grade. At the time I didn't realize the change and the teachers she had didn't inform me that there would be gaps due to this change. My daughter, who previously had loved math and got A's, went down to C's that year and then started dragging the next years. I thought it was due to her not wanting to do homework. I had no idea that she was working blind because Common Core changed not just when subjects were taught but also how they were taught. Her grades continued to plummet and we were all frustrated as she was barely making D's. It wasn't until mid year in 7th grade talking with her teacher I found out how bad the gaps were. That day, I made my appointment with Mathnasium. Rachel was fantastic and worked with me and a payment schedule to include assessments. We decided on a 6 month contract and reevaluate my daughter's progress at the end. What I liked: -My daughter liked going. She was enjoying it and the incentives really had her working towards goals. -Rachel was terrific! She was very easy to communicate with and open to discussing any issues that came up. -The schedule was incredibly flexible. I never had a problem getting the time I was looking for -Half the session could be spent on tutoring her homework. My daughter wasn't exclusively tied to the "plan" her assessment gave. This allowed her to learn as she was filling in gaps. What could be improved: -The online scheduling is clunky and awkward. There must be a better system. What I loved: -My daughter saw almost immediate improvement in not just her grades but also her attitude toward math. One month into the program and her grades when from nearly failing to high B's/low A's. 2 months and she was achieving A's. At the end of 6 months, she is now succeeding in math again and no longer dreads it. She is all A's in Math so far this year and it is the first homework she gets done now. I am not going to lie, this is expensive. For us, however, we decided the investment was worth it to get our daughter back on a successful path. If in the future, issues raise their head, we will be back.

She is an amazing advocate for your child (education). My son had no experience reading at his prior preschool and he is already working on his first book 3 months into DSM. There are clear expectations on what is coming up for the school year (holiday breaks, half days - ie no surprises if you are a working parent) and they provide aftercare if you need it. If you are on the fence about DSM, give it a try. I'm glad we started!

My husband and I are incredibly grateful for CMS, where our daughter has attended for the past…read moreyear. As this was our first time searching for a school, we researched and toured nearly 10 preschools in our area (mainly Montessori, but also some more traditional ones). As a stay-at-home mom, I was also apprehensive about starting our daughter at 2 1/2 years old and even considered waiting longer. If it weren't for CMS, we probably would have waited, because I truly believe no other school offered the environment that was most important to us--especially with her starting so young. The Montessori approach is clearly implemented in every aspect of CMS, both academically and socially. For us--and for our daughter's personality--the nurturing and respectful environment were the most important values in our search. Most of the teachers have been at CMS for over a decade, which was not the case at any of the other schools we toured. I love that our daughter can build a relationship with her teachers over the years, rather than changing to a new teacher every year. I believe this consistency provides a strong foundation for her academic and emotional development. The first thing I always tell people when they ask about CMS is this: At all the other schools, yes, I connected with the director or whoever was giving the tour on some level--but I'd only get maybe five minutes or less of face time with a teacher, and I always left feeling unimpressed with their classroom presence and curriculum. I'm truly impressed with the CMS curriculum and culture. On other school tours, I received more papers and booklets, but honestly, I felt a disconnect between what was written and what I saw. As a family, we follow Montessori values, and I began to research Montessori education on my own. From our first conversations with the Lead Teacher, Miss Jocelyn, I could see those values clearly reflected at CMS. After attending for over a year, I'm even more astounded by the depth and thoughtfulness of the lessons offered for early childhood development. As someone who struggled with math in school, I wish I'd had the opportunity to learn numbers the way CMS teaches them. On your tour, please ask to see the math beads and the related lessons--they are a perfect example of how CMS teaches the concept with real understanding, not rote memorization. The lessons are intentional, and the freedom my daughter has in choosing her work has developed her concentration and self-discipline. I have so much trust in this school--it's not the kind of place where your child comes home with 10+ generic worksheets a day. To get an overview of CMS's culture, I highly recommend reading The Family Virtues Guide: Simple Ways to Bring Out the Best in Our Children and Ourselves. CMS focuses on one virtue per week, based on this humanity program (such as respect, empathy, patience, etc.). To me, this is a clear example of how CMS goes beyond academics and truly teaches life skills and character development. When observing the classroom, you can clearly see how these virtue lessons provide a foundation of calmness that, in turn, allows each child to develop their concentration to achieve their highest potential and practical life skills at an incredible level. We are truly grateful for the foundation CMS is providing for our daughter!
