I was in contact today with 1-800-GOT-JUNK and a same-day appointment was made for me. Two team members arrived with their truck and they assessed what I had to donate/remove. I cannot say enough about how good these team members are. They were incredibly polite and caring, and they gave me all the details for what I had to remove, along with pricing. I was moving out and requested a basic pickup estimate. What I heard was the employee gave a "verbal" quote and stated no more than $538.00 with 2 employees using their trucks. I repeated back the amount to the employee with my husband on speaker phone. Since another company quoted around the same amount we thought it would be reasonable. My husband repeated back the same quote over speaker phone and we collectively agreed. At the end of the job, the employee requested $5,060 !! There wasn't a written contract or signed agreement. My husband and I make a modest living. The bill was a shock and an inconvenience for us because we had to call a supervisor to negotiate the amount. In the end we paid $1,500 just to end the stress, way more than we could afford or what it was worth. The workers were courteous and did a clean job, but I cannot recommend this company as they should be more transparent with their pricing. Rates they quote are nowhere near how much they charge! I was quoted $1300-1500 by 2 guys on site to fill 2 trucks. They said $750/full truck. I said I couldn't afford $1500 and had free bulk trash service the following week to leave the stuff on the curb and I could only pay $750 for the one truck. They filled one truck with the help of myself, my son and my son's friend; after finishing they said $1000 for one truck because the $750 is "just for the truck and I had to pay for their time spent". They arrived at 2:20pm and were gone a little before 3. Mind you I had stuff in the garage piled and ready to go, on the curb and in the house all bagged just needed to be removed- 20 minutes was spent reviewing pricing and my telling them I wasn't paying $1500. Don't worry, they said, "we have a little extra room, want us to take a few bags from the curb too?" The stuff in the garage is what they took along with broken down boxes and 1 desk chair from inside the house. Everything on the curb is still there... $1100 later because of course "No Tip" isn't an option when paying. I'm infuriated with the deceit. I'm a single mom barely squeaking by financially and feel 100% taken advantage of. I prepped and saved for this (for 3 months) because only so much can go out for bulk trash every month and I was sick of stuff piling up. When the crew arrived to do the pickup, they were supposed to give me an estimate of what the overall cost would be. Unfortunately, that step was skipped. They were efficient in loading the truck with the furniture. We had a half load. I was a bit surprised by the cost of nearly $600. I'm happy to have gotten rid of the furniture but was under the impression that since it was being donated, I was not going to be charged. read more

The agreed upon removal wasn't completed, and items were left behind. Specifically, three cupboards and a dishwasher weren't removed , and these were agreed upon being removed before service started. The total job included removing a disconnected refrigerator, a disconnected oven, three barstools, a dishwasher and five cupboards and also clearing out a pantry that was already cleared out about 60%. This job cost $838 plus tax and tip and it came out to a total of $938. Unfortunately the job wasn't completed as agreed-upon and the dishwasher and three cupboards were left behind. There was also insulation dragged throughout the house, extremely heavy furniture, (concrete and wood dining table) were moved and not returned to the original location - causing my kids and I not to be able to eat at the dining table until I'm able to move it back since it's pushed up against the wall. I'm not big on leaving bad reviews I like to leave good reviews, before this review, I tried to reach the company to resolve the situation and just have the workers come back out and finish the job. I reached out over the course of five days. I left messages and called different phone numbers and I never received a call back until yesterday when I finally received a call backfrom the manager or the owner. Whomever I spoke with immediately defected blame instead of just coming back to fix the job . He said that the workers wouldn't remove a dishwasher when the water was still connected,.. which was nonsense because the water had been disconnected and a worker and I discussed this before the job even started. The water had been disconnected for two weeks. I was also given other excuses and ultimately the manager/owner hung up on me once I said, I'm just gonna leave bad reviews then if you're not gonna resolve the situation, I'll be forced to leave reviews on Google and yelp and the Better Business Bureau, and the manager hung up on me. This wasn't resolved, the company was paid. They did collected the $938 and I'm stuck with the job not finished. Before you use o1-800-GOTJUNK.... I strongly encourage you to find another company to utilize Not only are the prices high... You don't get the value you would expect for such high prices . Im posting this on every 1-800 Got Junk. The driver gave me the wrong price and apologized for the misunderstanding. But he wanted to charge me almost $1000 for three mattresses, a headboard, 15 boxes, and some tash in a garbage container. He said in a case where we have a misunderstood situation and can't come to an agreement like this. We have to offload it. I said ok. I understand... until and here's the kicker. HE MADE ME UNLOAD HIS TRUCK, I am disabled so I did what I could and then called my daughter, and she had to help me. I contacted a competitor, and they came out immediately and did the job for $140, less than 45 minutes after he left. However, you can't treat people that way. Regardless of a misunderstanding, and then have them do all the work. Unacceptable. I'll be filing complaints with multiple agencies. I'm disabled. I was having trouble finding a charity that would pick up furniture so called and asked if 1-800-GOT-JUNK would pick up and deliver donations to a charity. The homeowner had a house full of wonderful furniture and wanted to donate it. They said yes but when the trucks arrived they just threw things into the truck and in some cases actually broke up the furniture before tossing it into the truck. When I told the "lead" that this was supposed to be a charity pick up, not junk, his response was the person answering the phone isn't authorized to make commitments and added that all stuff is taken Tina warehouse and anything usable would be repurposed. Had some yard sale leftovers - 90% dishes and glassware but it was for a Senior Citizen, they gave a price of $138 when calling in less a $33 coupon, when they showed up they tried to quote almost $400 for what two guys did in 20 minutes of working. After saying I would just do it myself they kept lowering the price until he said he would do it for the phone price but wasn't willing to do the coupon. I reluctantly said ok even though I held back things from the phone price that were in the house and they never saw. Then they stopped before emptying the table in the front with the only heavy/ bulky items and said that wasn't included in the quote - I would have to pay more. They tried to tell me I said that wasn't included except one of the guys was new and said he asked to verify the biggest item there - caught in a lie. But the trainer - he wasn't having it and told him to be quiet. I told him to unload my stuff and I would drive it to the goodwill myself - it was mostly expensive glassware - he then walked away and came back at me with I'm going to dump the whole load in your driveway! Had them come out to the house for an "estimate" and I elected to do the job myself. My first impression was that I could see that they were used to dealing with people who are allergic to a little hard work and passively ignorant to other options available to them so though he was a little nervous about doing so, he proceeded to try and take advantage of that scenario with me. I had about 1500 to 2000 lbs of broken up/stacked concrete to remove and the price was going to be around a grand, give-or-take, for around an hour's work if you count dumping the material. Did you know that you can get debris bags from Home Depot for 30 dollars? You fill it and call a number and they pick it up for 175 dollars. They hold around 3000 lbs and... that's that - At least for those of us who don't mind a little work. read more
