I became addicted to vapes and was exposed to a lot of adult content that has traumatized me. I also started to self-harm due to bullying. The staff told me, "If they don't bully you every single day, it's not bullying," and ignored my situation because I wasn't being physically harmed. I was a good kid with a big smile, but this school ruined me and caused permanent damage to my bladder because I couldn't complete assignments due to being undiagnosed and constantly bullied. I was not allowed to go to the restroom, and the staff were cruel and rigid in their ways. Now, years later, I see that my 10-year-old brother, who used to be a straight-A student with a clear record and aspirations of becoming a rocket scientist, is acting out at school. He has zero friends and is being told horrific things by kids, like "kill yourself." Consequently, he fought back after being bullied constantly, resulting in a referral for calling a girl a name, while the kids who bullied him received minimal consequences. They make the kindergarten and preschool playgrounds beautiful and colorful to attract parents, who enroll their children unaware of the harsh reality. One small playground serves over 50 kids in a large field with one soccer ball, and outcasts can't use the playground or the ball. My brother sobs daily over this hell that is supposed to be a school. They ask parents and administrators to rate the school but never ask the kids who are subjected to neglect and harm daily. This behavior continues at Willow Canyon, the high school I currently attend. While the staff there is somewhat less cruel, they still enforce rules inconsistently and show favoritism. I've been subjected to bullying for the first time in years since I used to attend Shadow. I've been in real danger at this school; the kids are all violent, and I was almost a victim of sexual assault because many have troubling pasts involving harm or theft. Everyone self-harms or has an eating disorder due to bullying, and it has made me relapse in my self-harm. The school funding is terrible--it has bad food, broken water fountains, toilets, and sinks. Additionally, locks on bathrooms are rarely intact. It seems that everyone at this school is involved with some kind of drug. My child was released to someone who could have possibly been a complete stranger. NO ONE CHECKED ID, the individual who I had pick my child up from that school went to the office and the front office receptionist sent this individual directly to where my child was. The receptionist did NOT check ID & when it was time to grab him from the teacher they too just sent him off without even speaking or asking for Identification. Another incident had transpired where another student was touching my child inappropriately & when it came to time speak with the teacher she WAS AWARE of the incident but FAILED to INFORM ME ! I am not only concerned about my child but I am also concerned about the other student as well as that parent should be aware and informed of the information ! The teacher made it a point to MESSAGED ME AND INFORM ME OF OTHER THINGS but not mention what was MOST IMPORTANT. NOT ONLY did these terrible incidents happen but my son had been here in this school for 6 months & his main teacher still DID NOT know his name but would address him as someone else . FINALLY each time I would address my issues of concern the teacher and both principal and assistant principal were VERY CALLOUS . NO apology NO concern NO EMPATHY ... NOTHING !! The kids always enjoy their teachers, and they have a lot of fun little extras. The school office is now designed with locking doors and is very secure. They have a higher standard as far as curriculum, and with online access it is easy to keep track of progress. They offer before and after care which is in their cafeteria, also locked and secure with check in and id required.

I'm extremely disappointed with our experience at this school and ultimately decided to unenroll my son. This was his first time here and it was horrible! School started in August and it is currently September. I raised concerns about communication and the support he was receiving, explaining that he has ADHD and sometimes needs instructions repeated or explained differently. However, when he asked for help, he was reportedly told to ask another student instead of receiving additional support. As a new student facing a significant curriculum jump, he became uncomfortable seeking help from his teacher. I was especially concerned when he had a bathroom accident, felt unable to approach his teacher, and remained in soiled clothing all day, resulting in a rash. That same day, he became overheated and visibly red after drinking all the water he had. Although he raised his hand for more, he said the teacher continued calling on other students. He came home sweaty, with a headache, and close to tears. He had bad heat exhaustion from this experience. I was also told that when the teacher became frustrated, she slammed her hand down on the desk or table. This behavior was intimidating and contributed to my son feeling uncomfortable and afraid to ask for help. There was also an upsetting incident involving an art project. My son worked hard on his artwork, but when it was time to display the projects, his was reportedly placed in a location where it could not be seen, while the other students' artwork was displayed. This made him feel singled out and excluded. Regardless of the reason, situations like this should be handled with sensitivity, especially when a child is already struggling to feel comfortable and included in a new school environment. The school also has a bullying problem that was not handled appropriately. When my son stood up for himself, he was the one who got into trouble and was sent home with a "think sheet." It was extremely frustrating to see him disciplined for defending himself while the underlying bullying concerns were not adequately addressed. Children should not be made to feel that speaking up for themselves will result in punishment. A child should feel safe asking for help with basic needs such as using the bathroom, getting water, or understanding schoolwork. I also had concerns about the lack of communication regarding his well-being. I have not received a response from the principal and will escalate these concerns to the regional director. Because I no longer felt comfortable leaving my son in this environment, we chose to unenroll him. Every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and respected. I just received a progress report showing that my child has D's, even though the school year only started six weeks ago. If that does not demonstrate how little attention is being given to whether the children actually understand what is being taught, I do not know what will. He has never experienced academic issues like this before.
