This has been my experience with my kids over the last 5 years and they have all gotten worse over…read moretime. I have 2 students currently attending and 1 that graduated and it's happened to all in some form or another so I know it's not a coincidence. I pick them up everyday at the gates and hear a few other parents complaining about some of the same issues and I've also witnessed some of the staff's behavior. The teachers (several) Don't respond to messages When students try to speak to them requesting information or clarification on assignments they are told to go sit down or are ignored completely. The teachers also take a long time to grade papers and enter them. Why isn't this your job? Why does it take weeks to grade work? They play favorites and once a student has a problem all of a sudden all the teachers have a problem with the student making them feel uncomfortable, not valuable and bullied. At no time should any teacher in any grade level be discussing their political views, what other staff members (or anyone) they are dating or their sexual preferences. Why do the students need to know their teacher was married, had kids and then turned gay? This information does not need to be shared with the students. The 7th grade math, ELA and social studies teachers are the worst's Cafeteria ladies One in particular seems to think she is a police officer and telling students their lunch from home is bad for them? Do you see what your breakfast is not to mention pizza? Read something in the Surprise facebook group how a child was given a detention for bringing a Twinkie? How about the fact they run out of food by time the last classes get through the line. Other students There is bullying plain and simple and nothing is done about it. Physical and mental bullying. There is race bullying as well and horrible sexual comments that come out of students mouths towards each other Coaches Again here we go with favorites. Most of these coaches don't respond to messages unless your kid is number 1 on the team. They have their favorites and if your kid isn't that good then they don't get played. If that's the case then don't have them on the team. Totally a waste of money and time at practice. You know the effects that has on them? The principal First, I'm not defending my kids however I have one who got into trouble with 2 other students and the principal told my kid to tell the truth and you won't get into trouble. My kid told the truth and got suspended. Congratulations that just makes them not have respect for authority figures and teaches them not to trust. I'm so happy my kid used their head and turned on the recording on their phone in their pocket to record the conversation. When I was first told about it I was in disbelief until I heard the recording. And those were her exact words. The other 2 kids involved told myself and their parents the same thing, tell the truth and you won't get into trouble and they were suspended as well. Shame on you Mrs Wolford how dare you betray a child's trust The assistant Principal All you will hear from her is I'm on the teachers side. Dress code Here's another example of favoritism. Let's start with the girls skirt length. I've seen some of the girls over and over again with skirts that are entirely too short and not according to dress code regulations and also see them in leggings and jeggings. Hair? Definitely not in compliance especially the boys. Never has been for this school. This school is horrible and needs to be investigated. They don't want students on their phone at breakfast or recess but yet they do it. Whatever happened to lead by setting an example? Some of these students get no moral boosters at all. Same kids always praised and picked for things that make the school look good just like there is another group that are ALWAYS targeted and scrutinized over the tiniest of things. Heaven to bid you have a yahoo email address because it doesn't really work well with Dysart tech. Do not send your children there. We are changing schools and strongly considering going to the district with our concerns and the recordings. Glad there are other parents willing to stand with us as they have serious complaints as well.

Very nice Elementary School!…read more Went in today to meet my daughters Kindergarden teacher before she starts her first day tomorrow. I am very pleased with this school! Very well put together, and the staff are extremely nice, friendly, and professional! I met Mrs. Fleener, she was very professonal and extremely kind. Her class room was set up great for the students! She made my daughter feel very welcome and and comfortable. This will be my daughters very first year and my first experience having her attend school. I am excited and looking forward to sharing this experience with other parents and faculty at this school!

It's disappointing to see that concerns are not addressed equally, and it feels like certain students are prioritized over others. I became addicted to vapes and was exposed to a lot of adult content that has traumatized me. I also started to self-harm due to bullying. The staff told me, "If they don't bully you every single day, it's not bullying," and ignored my situation because I wasn't being physically harmed. I was a good kid with a big smile, but this school ruined me and caused permanent damage to my bladder because I couldn't complete assignments due to being undiagnosed and constantly bullied. I was not allowed to go to the restroom, and the staff were cruel and rigid in their ways. Now, years later, I see that my 10-year-old brother, who used to be a straight-A student with a clear record and aspirations of becoming a rocket scientist, is acting out at school. He has zero friends and is being told horrific things by kids, like "kill yourself." Consequently, he fought back after being bullied constantly, resulting in a referral for calling a girl a name, while the kids who bullied him received minimal consequences. They make the kindergarten and preschool playgrounds beautiful and colorful to attract parents, who enroll their children unaware of the harsh reality. One small playground serves over 50 kids in a large field with one soccer ball, and outcasts can't use the playground or the ball. My brother sobs daily over this hell that is supposed to be a school. They ask parents and administrators to rate the school but never ask the kids who are subjected to neglect and harm daily. This behavior continues at Willow Canyon, the high school I currently attend. While the staff there is somewhat less cruel, they still enforce rules inconsistently and show favoritism. I've been subjected to bullying for the first time in years since I used to attend Shadow. I've been in real danger at this school; the kids are all violent, and I was almost a victim of sexual assault because many have troubling pasts involving harm or theft. Everyone self-harms or has an eating disorder due to bullying, and it has made me relapse in my self-harm. The school funding is terrible--it has bad food, broken water fountains, toilets, and sinks. Additionally, locks on bathrooms are rarely intact. It seems that everyone at this school is involved with some kind of drug. Really nice school. I have always liked this school since it opened many years back. As the…read moreneighbor kids come and go I see many try our local public and charter schools and Paradise always ends up being a favorite. The kids always enjoy their teachers, and they have a lot of fun little extras. The school office is now designed with locking doors and is very secure. They have a higher standard as far as curriculum, and with online access it is easy to keep track of progress. They offer before and after care which is in their cafeteria, also locked and secure with check in and id required.
