This company was contracted to build a simple transit center in Silver Spring. Construction began in 2007. It is now 2013. It should not take over seven years to build a parking structure. To add to that, it should not take over seven years to build something that is not structurally safe at the cost of over $100 million.
This building is an eyesore and a huge problem for downtown Silver Spring as it is wasted space. No one can use it. I mean, even if Montgomery County commissioned a sculpture made entirely from shit, citizens could at least be thankful for high-concept art. Here, we've got nothing...The only logical reaction to the Silver Spring Transit Center is saying to yourself, "I did not know a concrete building was capable of rotting from the inside-out, much like an elderly, gassy dog."
The worst part about this debacle is that WMATA, the transit agency who would actually take control of the facility states that the building is not up to their standards. To put that into perspective, WMATA thinks it is acceptable to let people who are high operate their vehicles and oversee safety! An entity who sets the bar notoriously low does not find this building up to snuff!
Foulger-Pratt built this pile of organized rubble, but has not taken any responsibility for its faults. I wouldn't trust this company as far as I could throw it. read more
