I have been taking my car here for many years and will continue to. This is the only vehicle repair shop I have found that has ever treated women like they have brains. I was very tired of auto shops adding on unnecessary work and charging outrageous prices. Foster's is fair, diligent and does quality work. I was in Bozeman on business and staying at a nearby hotel. Having an issue with my car is especially upsetting when out of town. After calling around several places with estimates of waiting a week to 3 months; the guys at Foster's Master Touch were able to re-arrange their schedule to fit me in the next morning. The car was drivable so I delivered it and they kindly gave me a ride back to my hotel and picked me up the following day when the car repair was completed. The repair estimate came in at $320; however they did not have to replace a part so the final bill was $260! As a single female traveling through, not knowing much about car repairs; I was so thankful for the honesty, fairness and how they went above and beyond by getting the car in right away and giving me rides to and from my hotel. I accompanied my daughter to Foster's Master Tech to request a refund after the false repair of her vehicle. Her Vehicle was in the shop for the repair of a coolant hose, clamp and O-ring assembly. She was charged $187.00. Immediately after the repair, my daughter headed toward Missoula. Less than 70 miles into her short trip, the car overheated and needed to be towed. When she arrived at a repair shop in Butte, she showed a copy of Foster's receipt to the service-professional. An inspection revealed the work purported to have been completed, could not have been, as access to the hose was under a metal shroud that showed no indication it had been removed. The shroud is the only possible access to the repair area. It was untouched. At first, the service manager Tom tried to deny the shop's fraudulent repair/bill. But, after we called the Butte shop to substantiate the condition of the vehicle, Tom agreed to refund the charges in full. Tom found it necessary to scream at my daughter and I, insisting the repair had been done correctly. I asked him to refrain from speaking to us in that manner, but he refused, and threw the refunded money at us. WOMEN should avoid doing business with this shop at all cost. It is my opinion, that Tom's unreasonable and chauvinistic behavior would never have been directed toward a man! In summary, he did not complete the repair my daughter was charged for and then continued to verbally harass us. read more

Waited 9 days for them to fit me in. Fine. The exact issue was known and they said they could fix it. Once they started the job they decided they couldn't do it because they could not balance the drive shaft that they were repairing. Really they didn't know they couldn't do this before they knew what they were going to fix? Told me I should get rid of my 2005 with 80,000 miles. One other time I went there because I couldn't get my blinker to work and it turned out that auto parts store gave me the wrong bulb. $80 dollars please. Why did I ever go back? Because they were convenient for me to get to. Guess it wasn't as convenient as I thought. read more

I called them as returning customer and was not greeted over the phone but was rudely informed that what I'm requesting isn't what they do. Which is fine there is nice ways to go about telling people that they are incorrect about their service. This man was for lack of a better word a complete a******. He treated me like s*** and I will never call this place again nor will I ever frequent their business. Do not take your vehicle here! Bob is extremely rude and difficult to talk to. Paid $1,400 and car broke down next week and blamed customer. Refused to even look at car or answer questions. Just had a terrible experience with Bob at Foster's MasterTech. We had done a lot of business with them over the years to fix all of our cars and I always paid the invoice and never complained. So after paying them to fix my Ford F350 and when I drove away I noticed the issue wasn't fixed. So I asked if they could get it back in to fix it. I even asked if there would be an additional charge or if it was covered since I just paid. He said they would take care of it but he would call me if it was something else that was wrong. He left a voicemail that he fixed it this time and for me to come get it. When I arrived he gave me another bill. So when I reminded him that I already paid for the same issue he got extremely mad and told me to find a new repair shop. He wouldn't even talk with me about it. I'm very disappointed in Bob and now a very unhappy customer. read more

Called fosters and made an appointment to have my truck looked at to install air shocks in the rear. When I got there the mechanic was immediately pissed off that he had to take my truck out for a test drive ( it was low on gas, I didn't know they would be driving it). After he returned to the shop he put it on the lift, I had a couple things that I wanted to point out to him. He then told me very loudly that I couldn't come out there because if the truck fell and killed me, he would go to jail and his kids wouldn't have a father. He kept boasting about this for about 5 min. After looking at my truck for a little while he said it was in fairly rough shape underneath (which is true) but said other mechanics would fix it. He then told me they don't even put air shocks in vehicles that old because of the liability! That was the whole reason I was there in the first place, I had told them what vehicle it was over the phone! They referred me to another mechanic. I left with a 20$ gas bill and an 89$ inspection fee, they didn't even give me a list of what was wrong with my truck! After leaving I felt like I'd been robbed, not to mention I had to pay for another look over. I called back and told them I felt like I'd been ripped off and didn't even get a list of things to fix on my vehicle. The owner said if I didn't like there service they would refund me if I came in, then hung up on me. So I did, guess what? No refund, just a slip of paper with a couple sentences about what was wrong with my vehicle, about the vaguest list I've ever seen. There a bunch of crooks if you ask me, I'll make it my passion to tell everyone never to go there, my passion.... Do yourself a favor, avoid these fools, they want your money for nothing. Outstanding professional team at Foster's Master Tech . My daughter is a student at MSU and when she called one afternoon and told us her car would not start and she was having it towed we searched the web for mechanics in Bozeman. The first place we call told us they would not even be able to look at the car for two weeks. When we called Foster's Master Tech they told us they were busy but bring the car over and they would take a look at it the next morning. When I talked to them on the phone I was glad to hear they were old GM guys since my daughter's car is an older model GM. The team at Foster's Master Tech was absolutely outstanding. The issue turned out to be an electrical issue that was very difficult to diagnose. The team diagnosed and fixed the problem for a very reasonable price. The fix even made a security light that had been on since we got the car go out. They also winterized the southern California car before giving it back to my daughter. We really appreciate the professionalism and expertise of the whole Foster Master Tech team and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of an auto mechanic in Bozeman, especially if you have a student at MSU with a car. It's comforting to know that we have a mechanic in Bozeman that we can send out daughter to for any issues with her car and we can trust they won't take advantage of her. read more

Fixed the wrong part after I told them what to replace, got that wrong , then replaced the part I told them needed to be, had my vehicle 3 weeks and charged me double what it should have been. No apology or remorse, just a smile and incompetent, overpriced service. read more

Do not use this place! I brought my truck in because it was leaking antifreeze. Fosters kept the truck overnight to diagnose the problem and told me the next day that an intake gasket was leaking and that it would be $650 to fix. I went ahead and had them do the work. After getting the truck back I was still seeing spots of fluid on my driveway! I brought it back in and well low and behold now my water pump was leaking. I asked if there was anyway the previous fix may have caused this, of course they said no way, it was just a normal thing to have your water pump start leaking right after having the vehicle worked on for an unrelated antifreeze leak. So like a chump I had them fix that as well for another $500. Got the truck back and now I have an oil leak bad enough to cause a 4 inch ring each time I leave the truck parked overnight! Of course they again tell me that no way would anything they did be the cause of this, an oil cooling hose just happens to be broke at the coupling, not their fault at all. To add insult to the whole thing Fosters also replaced my serpentine belt even after I explicitly told them not to. He than tried to make it seem like he was doing me a favor. Please choose another place, they are nice people just not good mechanics. read more
