Tate gives advice and 'homework' that I can take back to practice at the indoor range and dry firing at home. Thanks to Big Boar I am now 100% confident in shooting with iron sights and in reactive and tactical shooting. It's a bit of a drive to get to to Big Boar but 1000% worth it. I've been shooting for 40+ years and in the last 3 months I have improved exponentially. The joy of shooting has come back to me. Before Big Boar, going to the range was kind of like a dreaded exercise session. Since taking my first session at Big Boar, shooting is fun again as well as a challenge and a self improvement, self esteem reward. I can't recommend Big Boar and Tate enough. Photos show targets from reactive shooting at 10yrds with no optics, 2 shots fired in 0.83 to 1.04 seconds. 3 months ago, I wouldn't even have had a clue or chance of doing this.

I have been training at VX Marksmanship since 2012 and, as a testament to just how good the…read moreinstruction is at VX. I have taken every class that this facility has offered and participated in almost all of their special events, including an extreme long range shoot where we took 50 BMG and 338 Lapua rifles out beyond 3,000 yards. This is a training facility that places a strong emphasis and learning basic shooting fundamentals to the point where they are reflexive. Furthermore, the curriculum is constantly evolving, which emphasizes the value of retaking specific courses for further learning. I couldn't imagine training anywhere else. As a bonus, the membership program offers discounts on training, some free special events, and even some opportunities for private land hunting. The bottom line is that training at this facility is not cheap, but you are getting a very high quality product. Training with firearms at VX Marksmanship is comparable to taking swim lessons with Michael Phelps or boxing lessons from Floyd Mayweather: You won't find a better experience anywhere else.

5 stars doesn't do VX Marksmanship justice - and if you are lucky enough to be even remotely within…read moredriving distance, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of the training offered here. It is a unique opportunity that anyone hungry for world class firearm instruction should take advantage of. Whether you are starting as a rookie or a seasoned professional, VX focuses on building your mindset, maturity, grit, and weapon handling capabilities that you must have to prepare for what you're training for -- a gunfight - if you need to defend yourself, your family, or others in a life or death situation. Taking courses as a prospect to build rock solid fundamentals is excellent and where I started as a novice. If you perform, demonstrate grit, professionalism, and the ability to develop your learning curve and are offered the opportunity for membership and train under Dan Sanderford's leadership, you will have a truly unique experience you won't find anywhere else. Training under Dan as a member has allowed me to rapidly improve my ability to remain calm under stress, accelerate my information processing ability, improve my situational awareness, and build the fundamentals needed to interoperate across all weapons platforms (pistol, carbine, precision rifle) in extremely dynamic environments. You won't find this anywhere else. Training at VX Marksmanship with Dan brings with it significant accountability. Much is given and much is expected. The high standards, consummate professionalism, having a learner's mindset (you have never arrived) has improved my abilities beyond my expectations. Being able to stay cool under stress, improving information processing, and having an intense focus on the 'why behind the what' of what you're doing has positively impacted me in multiple areas outside training both personally and professionally. Couldn't thank Dan and his team enough for the program they've built and allowed me to take advantage of.

Some officers I am friends with mentioned this store as being very nice but 2 things to know, it's better if you are ex military, and be prepared for higher prices. I live in a neighboring city and thought it was worth the try. I wanted to sell one of my handguns and online info was they paid fair value for used guns? I went in on 9/23 about 1 or 1:15pm and waited at the Gunsmith counter. In about 5 minutes I was waved over to the counter. The first thing I noticed was the employee did not look like ex military so I thought maybe there were other staff in different jobs. I explained why I was there and handed the employee my S&W box my gun was still in, never fired and in the same box and contents from when I bought it. The employee pulled out the Semi Auto .40 caber and took a quick look and told me what my gun was?? He then said there is no demand for these and the best I could do is $50! I was shocked naturally by not only the offer but his less than friendly/or professional his approach was. I smiled and said wow the pawn shop in Lewisville offered me $150 and I thought they were getting to me? He responded we can't sell these on GunBroker because we can't get our money out of them! I told him that I had been on GunBroker that morning to see what they were selling for and there were NONE for sale as used, and there were 2 sellers with new ones at $299 each in other states. He closed out by saying we can't resell those??? Just for the record my gun is a S&W .40 CALIBER SD MODEL 4". It was purchased new for $329 in April and was never used or fired. I purchased a used .45 S&W about 6 weeks later because that is the gun I wanted but new they were very expensive in the metroplex. I paid half what a new one would cost. I was only hoping to get a fair price for the .40 since I had replaced it but I made a mistake of coming to your store! FYI I had two older brothers serv in the military years ago and have a strong respect for the military! I chose to go into Law Enforcement after school instead. I would like to say the facility is beautiful but is more expensive than 3 other DFW gun stores/ranges. At this time I can't say if I would go back to your store due to pricing but mainly due to the employee I dealt with. He was not professional and actually was almost rude! He dealt with me and dismissed me in under 2 minutes and no one was in line behind me. He had NO desire to keep me as a customer for your store! If you are looking for a high class gun store and range this may be your place. Hopefully you are not trying to sell a firearm and you don't get this employee that I got! The really bad part is I made 2 prior trips to TGE before yesterday only to be told the "buyer" was not there? The first time he was at a late lunch and to come back in an hour. The second time he had not arrived yet? My wife was at a doctors appointment in Grapevine and I could not stay around and wait. Now I am sure that the 3rd time is NOT the charm! Good luck to you.
