It appears the entire staff has changed and with it the warm vibe. The last few weeks my kids have just been swimming back and forth across the lane without much demonstration or apparent guidance from the staff, whether it has been one or two trainers in their lane. The trainers also used to interact warmly with the kids while in the water (or out), now the trainers look bored and interact with the kids minimally and without the same enthusiasm. It is the same facility, but the staff that made it such a wonderful place are gone. My children have always loved their trainers and now have nothing to say about them. I think it is time for us to start looking for a new place for swim lessons.

We've had several different swim instructors over the years and most have them have been great. She currently is in Fiona's class and she is amazing with the kids! After my daughter's swim class 6/26 the manager, Michael, approached me on the pool deck in front of other families & children to accuse her of being "mean" to another child and allegedly using a curse word -- based solely on another child's word, without any investigation or proper handling. My daughter was and IS the only Black child in the class, and it felt clear that she was singled out and blamed without consideration for her side. I asked my daughter on the pool deck, and in the changing room what happened. She is 6 years old and a complete sweet heart who's mean to no one. She let me know that she did not say a bad word and that she only told the girl her and her board were to close to her and to move. Fine. After that we went into Michael's office to speak to him again before leaving because I wanted a better understanding of the situation. Michael tells me the same thing again that my daughter said a bad word and it seems like it was the "A" word and the girl "didn't want to repeat it" to really let us know what that word is, mind you on the pool deck he said she said a bad word but in his office it was she said the A word. he then goes on to say that the girl said my daughter said she was to close and said to move which my daughter said she did say. Later, Michael even admitted that the kids were too close to one another and were all frustrated -- yet mine was the only child held accountable. The way this was handled was completely unprofessional, dismissive, and racially biased. There was no investigation done whatsoever just blame the only black kid in class because that makes sense to do. If your child is a minority, I strongly urge you to be cautious about sending them here. They deserve to feel safe and respected -- not unfairly targeted or humiliated in public.

As my kids got older and went through high school, we stopped buying the passes because they weren't interested in going to Cypress Cove on a regular basis anymore. So, I hadn't been there in years. In July 2024, my wife and I decided to entertain some younger relatives by taking them to the waterpark. Low and behold, the water was so cold that nobody could stand it. The kids' lips were BLUE, they shivered uncontrollably, and they struggled to have any fun. They didn't even want to stay after only a few minutes. You KNOW something is wrong if young kids want to quickly leave a waterpark on a beautiful, hot summer day! We asked the Cypress Cove staff about the shockingly cold water and they revealed that ever since COVID, the park stopped heating the water in order to save money. They flat out don't operate the water heating system anymore, it's been deliberately mothballed. Say what? What kind of water park doesn't heat the water? That's totally unacceptable and I've never experienced such a thing - EVER. Every water park or public pool that I've ever been to in my 50+ years of life has heated the water so that it's comfortable. My family won't even consider returning to Cypress Cove until we hear that they've resumed heating the water like normal. The only thing I can appreciate about the situation is that the Village of Woodridge, which operates Cypress Cove, is conscious of keeping its spending down for the taxpayers. But there are much more sensible things to cut from the city budget than heating the water at the town's water park. That's ridiculous.

This place is amazing! The water is warm,Life Guards Are excellent. I totally recommend.read more

One year ago my daughter would scream if her face got wet, now she puts her head under no problem and can completely float on her back on her own and is learning how to swim. She makes progress every week. If we can only afford one class each week, this would be the one we would never miss. They keep moving her up into better classes (even in the middle of the semester) to keep her growing. Very happy with this school. Teachers are awesome too!!!

I also wanted to ensure she's a strong swimmer as early as possible, because let's face it, accidents happen and kids do fall into pools, no matter how careful you are. My daughter has officially successfully completed Backfloat Baby 1 and started Backfloat Baby 2 about two weeks ago. We were SO SO lucky to have Christine for our first instructor, and I really hope we are able to have her again for a future class. She put my anxiety at ease, and handled my daughter so well (can you imagine how hard it is to get a 6 month old who loves to lick pool water to actually close her mouth long enough to be submerged under water for 4 seconds?!) I've also seen her with some of the more rambunctious older kids, and she has the patience of an angel. I really hope my daughter comes to trust our new instructor as much as she did Christine so that we can have a successful Backfloat Baby 2 class and continue on our swim journey. All of the employees here are so sweet, and I'm so glad that we chose FOSS for our daughter.
