Had an amazing experience here. The food was absolutely delicious and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Every dish was well-seasoned, beautifully plated, and full of flavor. The service was just as great. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made me feel welcome. They were happy to answer questions and made sure everything came out at the right time. Great parking all around but Fortun's has its own lot to the West of the entrance but wish they'd police it a bit more as it gets abused. FACILITY: Older, darker, and rather Palm Springs formal looking in the main dining area... Hello, Hello, I will eat in the bar area or outside in the bar area. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating for fine dining peak season. MENU: Upper scale options with steaks like 47.00, Salmon $38.00, Pasta $32.00 and pizzas.. FOOD PREP: Always well done, professional level plating and table deliveries. FOOD QUALITY: Excellent while we have ordered a few things we did not like, it was still prepared well. Not a fan of the Pizza here. LIBATIONS: This has been a VERY Fun bar area, hope they keep the Bartenders on call during the summer squeeze. This is the heart of the income for a restaurant so screwing up pricing, pours, or bartender awesomeness can take an establishment off the Go-To list quickly. WAITSTAFF: Has been excellent until we got the news they were all being laid off for a month, now two and a half months. Went to Fortuns when a restaurant down the street was too busy and got a pleasant surprise. Host was very kind, we were seated fast, and the server Angela was a doll. Knew what we wanted almost before we even knew! We started off with the creole shrimp and burnt ends and they were cooked to perfection, which was something we didn't expect because for most restaurants out here the shrimp is either to dry or the burnt ends are to crispy. Both were delectable and delicious. Then we had the pizza and swordfish and it was a delight. High quality, along with great service. Will definitely be back soon!!! read more

I used to love this restaurant. I was always treated really well and the food was terrific. I was a regular during the season. But the food has declined. Twice the short rib has been extremely dry and the pasta has been just blah. Worse, the service has been very spotty. Tonight it was atrocious. I had to go to the host 3 times to ask our server to come over. Tables seated after us had their mains before we ordered. The hostess kept apologizing but there's no excuse. read more

I was recommended by a few people in town to delicious. It did not disappoint in the food category. The pizza had an amazing crust, the sauce was perfectly seasoned and the toppings were delicious. Devoured the whole thing!! The burnt ends were also quite delicious. Accompany with a delicious coleslaw, a sweet and savory cornbread and amazing sauces. We especially enjoyed the sweet honey mustard. Every bite was very flavorful. Gregg and Matt were both really friendly bartenders and had great personalities. Was fun to have the ice bar to set your cocktails on to stay chilled. They had cute little decorations set up on the bar in front of us. The sole drawback was a minor incident involving a hostess during a social gathering. While engaged with friends, I placed my feet on the chair opposite me, briefly obstructing the walkway. Upon a request to clear the path, I promptly complied. However, a different hostess approached me minutes later, reiterating the request, despite the absence of any obstruction. Subsequently, she communicated the issue to the bartender in my presence, who later confirmed her continued concern even after we relocated to the bar to ensure an unobstructed path. A more courteous and kinder approach in addressing the situation would have been appreciated, fostering a positive experience for both patrons and staff alike to make our visit more "special". read more

Dog friendly - outdoor patio I was fortunate enough to give this restaurant a try with a bunch of friends, with that being said you already know its "family style," food that is meant to be shared. The ambience is beautiful, wasn't sure why the 6 of us were seated in a booth rather than a flat top or even a round table, the location was in the far back corner, it was a bit odd but it worked out. Great dinner ! Loved the steak bites. Flavorful and like butter ! Perfect cocktails and nice wine list. Entrees were delicious. French dip is was A plus. Also included huge side of tater tots. Enough for the table to share. Staff were excellent. We even had someone in training. And yet he was on top of it and highly professional. It was not a surprise tonight, but it made me sad....to see Fortun's such a beautiful restaurant empty tonight. Unfortunately the manager & chef is probably the issue. Not the location or how the staff works.... It's so pretty! I have always experienced wonderful service there as well! My personal opinion and experience from a private party I gave last year in December for my office was horrible! So many mistakes were made. I met with Keith 3 times prior to my event.It was suppose to be in the private room.... He didn't even get that correct! He set it up in the bar area.Not okay!I never wanted to return again. Very nice premise. Nice looking bar, modern, casual place. Ordered the meat balls actually tasty but an inadequate serving size for 22.95 for what was basically 3 very small meatballs. Next came the chop chop salad while tasty was overly dressed. Next came the mushroom soup. It was uninspired and really not good. Next came the pizza which was lousy. $150 for what amounts to the worst meal of the year and I dined out at least 325 days this year . I should have known something was up when Enzos was packed next door and Fortun's was almost empty. So many great places to go to down here. This was an incredible disappointment. read more

The weather was perfect to have brunch out in the patio. Dining is available inside in the main dining room, or upstairs in their second dining room with a view. We started with a Bloody Mary with their house-made mix, the vodka was infused with Serrano chili. I thought it might be very spicy, but it was just right. 50% discount on Mimosas or Bloody Mary before Noon. Brunch is offered on Saturday and Sunday until 2pm. Enjoy breakfast or lunch items and a full service bar. A quick summary of their Breakfast menu: Grand Marnier French toast, Italian Omelet (veggie style or add Sausage for $4), Eggs Benedict. Lunch selections: Turkey French Dip, Tavern Burger, Cesar Salad, or Clam Chowder. The service was VERY good, we did not have to wait long to be seated, served or have our drinks refilled. Bar service was fine, food was okay but the burger was smaller than an In & Out burger and the meatballs were super small for $16! Then they acted like asking for lettuce and tomatoes for the burger was bizarre! Their "acclaimed bar" is nothing to wrote home about either, nothing special. read more

It started with their lousy reservation system that said that they were booked solid but when i showed up, it was empty. Everything was overpriced with no value or quality. $19 for a salad? $50 filet was so tiny that i thought it was a slider. Stroganoff was bland and sour and very small portion. We had our rehearsal dinner at Fortun's Kitchen and Bar with 40 people. I spoke with Keith and Chris over the phone when reserving the date and they were very accommodating. I could tell they wanted to make sure the dinner would be special, and it was. They decorated the table with rose petals and made a table signs for the guest of honors. The day of the event the service continued to be excellent, the food was awesome and the ambiance was wonderful. I received lots of compliments from the guests. We picked the restaurant from the outside from the decor and the menu. However, the service was not good. The Server did not get our order right and food was bland. Order one dish and received another never received the some items we order. Drinks were not good nor the soup. Silverware wrapped in the napkin was dirty. They said they did not have the focaccia bread but then later brought which looked like flat bread and not traditional focaccia. Unbelievably amazing quality food. Wonderful smiles on our server's face (thank you so much Francisco). He really made my day. I had the filet and it was cooked perfectly. The live music was so romantic. I could eat here every single day but it really was so special. I recommend reservations or else you might get attitude at the front desk. After calculating the tax on the receipt, noticed a few things that you all should be warned about. -Make sure you are prepared to pay a FOUR % surcharge that is not removable -# of guests on receipt did not reflect how many there really were of us (why is the restaurant changing number of guests from X to X) -Lastly why are you charging your guest 9.1% sales tax? This is separate from the surcharge. BBB should be notified immediately Food - Bland, nothing culinary about it. OVERPAID for food we could have had at TWENTY6 at La Quinta Resort & Club. Service - The only person who did his job and appeared to care for the duration we were there was Armando. I recommend that all employees interacting with the patrons to be retrained. Do not reach over your Customers to pick up or drop off drinks/food. Take the extra 2 steps to deliver in a professional manner. Also, servers and runners, make sure the next item is delivered at the appropriate time. We tried to interact with the server, but he didn't have it. Ambiance - Vapors were smoking in front of the entrance so if you like to get cancer from 2nd hand smoke, please enjoy. Awesome spot! We had a party of 10. Cliffhouse had to cancel our reservation last minute due to a power outage, but Fortun accommodated us extremely well. From giving us a reservation same-day, to upgrading our seats mid-meal to backrests, the staff here was ON POINT. Now the service was stellar, but the food... the food is why I'm coming back. We started with the steak calamari - everyone loved it. We then got the creole shrimp and it was a HIT! For entrees, we got a mix of swordfish (AMAZING!), seafood pasta (so good), and rigatoni (filling and exquisite), there's nothing to complain about here. The staff kept our waters full and took photos of us. All around, a great time. If you're contemplating visiting this place - look no further, you'll be in great hands. When we flew into Palm Springs we met Kevin Fortun- nicest guy ever! We stayed in Palm Springs but made sure to make the drive to his restaurant in La Quinta- totally worth the drive. We got there shortly after they opened at 4:00 & sat at their beautiful bar & Greg the bartender took excellent care of us. They have a great happy hour so we started with a couple of martinis & Sauvignon Blanc- love the ice bar to keep my wine cold. We then decided on some food- the wagyu burger with fries- delicious! We also got the fish tacos, Caesar salad & chop salad. Everything was so fresh & flavorful! Kevin came in & gave us a round of drinks on the house & a shot of his delicious signature vodka- so smooth! He was so kind & gave us a tour of the restaurant; the retractable roof in the dining room, the rotisserie chicken & pizza oven & beautiful patios with misters. We wish we had a microwave in our hotel cuz we would have gotten some of their yummy Stockpot Soup to take home! We'll definitely be back to try more of their amazing menu items. read more

Honestly, I have been there in over a year because their prices skyrocketed and the menu changed. I gave them 2 stars because I'm feeling pretty good today. They also have the audacity to charge for bread! I'm totally insulted. $18.00 for a bowl of French Onion Soup! I can buy over 18 pounds of onions for $18.00. How about $15.00 for a piece of cake. I won't even get into the alcohol. I can go on and on. Not everyone is sporting a money tree in their yard, this restaurant was one of my favorites and I will not return nor will I promote it. I was born and raised in the restaurant business (Italian) and I'm sensitive to the cost of doing business, constantly changing prices, high cost of labor, utilities and leases, etc. but this is Greed! Blatant disrespect for the working man. I'm a hard working local that loves and respects good food, but you'll never see my ass in your seat ever again. Please join me in not patronizing Greed. Firstly, the food is fabulous. It's always hot and portions are good. The Menu seems to be seasonal as the menu gets smaller in the summer. Things like the spinach salad and creole shrimp are only available in high season. And if you're in the mood for dessert they have a really nice selection. Secondly, The service has always been great. Recently, however, there has been a shake up at Fortun's as there is a new manager, who seems to be very dedicated with new ideas on how to run the restaurant. A lot of the staff have either quit or been let go, and that always changes the enjoyment a bit, but change is a fact of life and hopefully it won't change the level of service that we have come to expect. Thirdly, I'd like to address the 4% service charge. Personally we don't mind paying it. And that's because we feel the fee pays for the parking lot. As you probably know that parking can be hard to find and sometimes you have to drive around for quite a while before finding a spot, but Fortun's has their own lot and because of that parking has never been a problem. So. I think it's worth it just to keep the lot maintained. And Fourthly, Of course there is room for improvement. Such as I wish the had more low top tables inside, and I wish they had one or two low tops in the bar as I am short with bad knees and I can't clime up to a high top. And sometimes, all last winter, one of the heaters wasn't working and that should have been fixed right away. Also Happy hour should be year round and not just during the off season. We have been going to Fortun's Kitchen whenever we visit out home in La Quinta. We've even recommended it to friends, family and our La Quinta neighbors. But since they have reopened at the beginning of Sept, the menu has taken a turn for the worst (the removed the turkey dip, the coconut cream pie taste like something we would but at Vons, and other of our favorites have gone MIA!) and the service has been decidedly underwhelming. We will give them one more chance on our next trip to the desert, but if there isn't a significant improvement, they are off our favorites list for good! read more

We like Fortun's. Good food, good service. Great ambiance. Last night we were surprised by: MANDATORY 20% GRATUITY for a table of six MANDATORY 4% service charge. We were not advised of either mandatory charge at time of seating, or later at time of paying. Everyone understands costs are up. But why not simply raise the prices on the menu by 4% ? Staff told us they were receiving many complaints about the service fees. For our part, we won't be back until the service fee is dropped. As for the mandatory 20% tip?? . Came here for Mother's Day brunch. It was very tasty, it was a moderate portion and a little higher priced for what it was. Granted, this La Quinta so it's a little higher priced. The service was good. Granted it's still early in the day, so the staff was prompt in its attention. As for the ambiance, it's a good place for outside dining when the misters are working. Inside it also very nice. and a nice bar with a thick strip of ice to rest your glass so it stay cool. Overall, it's a nice place for an good meal. read more
