It's 4th grade and my daughter opted to play the cello at her school and we needed an instrument on the smaller side. All jokes aside, this is a great string shop run by welcoming people who love the instruments they sell. This is a family-run shop and the couple that owns it are not only professional in their interactions with their customers but are legitimately good at violin and cello. Not once did I feel like I was pressured into buying a certain violin, and they recommended a mid-ranged one to me based on its sound rather than price. I had many questions and they were definitely knowledgeable about it all. From brand knowledge to instrument care, I felt like I know more about things now. In terms of the transaction process, they were very transparent about what their payment options were and also were flexible with a payment plan that worked for me. Payment was pretty easy and straightforward. At the end, the owners threw in a case, resin, cleaning cloth, and my choice of carbon or wood bow along with the violin I bought. He chose a case that fit perfectly and had a nice humidity sensor. Our son's violin bridge and sound post had fallen out and we were looking for a place that could do repairs quickly before our son's 4th grade concert the next week. We found Forte Strings in Fullerton after 2 other music shops could not make the repairs. Thankfully, Forte Strings was open (till 7p on a Wednesday!) and they helped us past closing. They didn't even mention their closing time when helping me and they (Deana and her husband) were so kind! They inspected my son's violin and gave us quotes for repair but the price to repair was going to be high due to the state of the violin (it was in bad shape: bridge missing, replacing the sound post, string repair, 1/4 of the hairs on the bow missing). They offered to rent us a violin which would be much less than the repairs so that our son would have a violin to play with in time for his concert. Her husband still repaired the bridge in our current violin without charge and then picked out and tuned a very nice violin for us. I am so thankful for their time and help with our situation and really wished we had come here initially for our violin needs. Very nice shop and very beautiful instruments! I highly recommend! Deana and Eric took their time to pick out the perfect sized violin for my daughter. They were also very patient and considerate. Edward is the Violin teacher for my daughter. At first she was shy and intimidated because she usually has female teachers for all her activities including school. Edward is a very fun teacher, my daughter instantly broke out of her shell and was ready to learn after a couple mins in. My daughter has been playing violin on and off from grade school to junior high. I found this place through the highly recommended reviews on yelp and dropped in on a whim to see if there was anything we can improv on with her old violin. We were greeted by husband and wife owners, Eric and Deana. They inspected her violin and told us that it was too small. She's 12 and she's been playing 3/4 violin. They suggested a full size for her. We could not believe that all this time she has been playing the wrong size. Deana and Eric did not pressure us into busing anything like other places. They were very kind, attentive and knows so much about string instruments. We ended up renting a full size violin from them so my daughter can get a feel for it before we commit and she absolutely love how big the sound is now. They also recommended some instructors for private lessons. They have some in house and some that actually go to your home. We opted for on-site lessons. We received a wonderful text from their instructor, Edward, and just booked our first session. This place is a jewel. I have been to MANY music stores around the area as all of my daughters play music but the level of customer service does not compare to FORTE STRINGS. I just can't believe I missed this place since I drive on Harbor all the time. Using just pictures, Forte quoted me a fair price for a cello saddle repair and crack repair. They also discovered an area where the seam had fallen apart and reglued it, while still honoring the price and timeframe they quoted me. Forte Strings is delightful! Mr. and Mrs. Song were very welcoming to me and my kindergarten-age sons when we came in to rent a violin and a cello. They paired each child up with a perfect-sized instrument. When Mr. Song tuned each instrument, he played a little bit and it was beautiful to watch. When one of my boys burst a bowstring, I called and received patient, kind advice on what to do. When my other boy broke his bow accidentally, Mrs. Song was extremely gracious about it! She was helpful and generous when the bow proved beyond repairing and we needed a new bow. She treated my son with great care, as he was upset about the damage, and I really appreciated that!
