I haven't touched my cello for over 30 years but now that kids have grown and out of the house, I finally have time to pick it up again. It was not in good shape and needed some major restoration. I was concerned about what much it would cost and while talking to a friend, he referral me to Patrick at Everjoy Music. The store is located inside of a business complex, easy to find and plenty of parking. I brought my cello to Patrick and he was warm, knowledgeable, honest, and gave me options because of my limited budget. He made his recommendations and I was able to tell him parts I wanted to keep even though it wasn't ideal to keep them; he made it work and understood I had sentimental values. He respected my wishes. I came in feeling out of depth, really haven't played for so long and not feeling confident at all handling a cello. Patrick never made me feel less or unimportant. Estimated time was about a month but Patrick contacted me after 2 weeks that it was done. I picked up the newly restored cello today and it was so beautiful and the sound made me wanted to cry. Purchased a violin from this business a few years back for my daughter's violin school classes. The violin was adequate for a beginner, but we paid over $1000 for it. Eventually when we wanted to sell it, the owner would not pay us more than $350 for it. We went online trying to sell it and took it to a location in downtown Tustin as well where we were told that the violin was definitely not worth more than $300 even though it was perfectly maintain. I haven't been playing for a while but I decided to pick it up again. I originally contacted Everjoy to get my bow re-haired. While I was there Patrick took a look at my violin and said he could get it back in playing shape. I wasn't too sure at first but I decided that since I was going to make a serious effort at playing again I decided to do it. I'm glad I did. Patrick is a true luthier. Along with re-hairing my bow he replaced the pegs with ones that make it easier to tune, adjusted the sound post and finger board, replaced and shaped the bridge, and cleaned up the instrument itself (it had a few scratches). When I picked it up I saw the cosmetic changes right away but when I started playing I could tell it was louder and after playing a little more could tell it was a little easier to play. Even though it was a student Violin, they took great care of it to make sure everything was just right. Patrick at Everjoy music is the standard when it comes to customer service and quality work. I recently purchased a cello and violin at a storage unit/estate sale. Both my daughters play and play well; we've been looking for "backup" instruments for them. Well, you win some and you lose some when it comes to Craigslist sales and this was no exception. The cello was basically firewood (super cheap knockoff) but the violin, according to Patrick, was a keeper. We asked him to do what was necessary to return it to form and he delivered in spades! I literally didn't recognize the instrument when we picked it up a few weeks later. A new bridge, strings, cheek rest, tailpiece, and cleaning brought this violin back to life. It is now my daughter's favorite instrument. Patrick went above and beyond his service as a craftsman and offered additional help in picking out a suitable case, rosin, and even gave a quick lesson in proper form before we left. Re: Patrick at Everjoy Music This is a long review. You can see my final thoughts in the last paragraph. This was my first encounter with Patrick at Everjoy Music. Needed some long overdue repairs on my violin so that my daughter could use it for an upcoming audition. After a quick look at the violin, he asked me what I had in mind and what I wanted to achieve. After going over what I thought needed to be done, he pointed out a few other things that needed to be addressed. He is a great luthier with a quiet passion for his work. Not only did he point out some minor issues, he also took the time to educate me on why these were issues and how he would go about fixing the problems and to make the instrument more playable for my daughter. We also discussed string options to achieve the desired sound characteristics. A week later, as promised, the violin was ready for pick up. The repairs were definitely well done and made a significant improvement in the violin's projection, but it was also too bright for my preference. I decided to replace the strings myself hoping that it would achieve the desired sound--but it didn't really help. Patrick followed up on the repairs with an email asking how I felt about the work and sound. I replied and told him about how great the violin looked from the repairs, but that the sound still wasn't quite what I wanted, even after replacing the strings. He emailed me back the next day and asked me to bring it back to him to perform some additional adjustments. We brought the violin back to Patrick about 3 weeks after the initial repairs. He immediately recognized us and was eager to hear the violin with the new strings. We discussed the "brightness" issue and he made some adjustments in the sound post. He hit the spot! The violin had a warmer projection. He made sure I was satisfied with the adjustment. He also took the time to try some very select high end strings that he took off one of the "studio" violins to demonstrate as well. At the end of the day, my violin is fixed and has a new wonderful tone. Patrick is a great luthier who performs professional work with a friendly quiet demeanor. He is definitely knowledgeable and loves to teach his craft if you are willing to listen. More importantly, he is listening to you as the customer so that he can address the real issue with your instrument. In the end, he wants you to be happy with his service and your instrument!! I am very happy to have met him, and I recommend him highly. We'll be back with any future needs. read more

Visited the shop for the first time today to pick-up a new G string for my daughter's violin. Patrick was very kind and knowledgable. We ended up upgrading all her violin strings and purchasing a better quality shoulder rest. She's learning how to tune her instrument in school. I had my bow's worn-out leather thumb-grip changed (as my bow was re-haired). Patrick used lizard skin material as a replacement. As I tried out the bow at home, I was pleasantly surprised that the feel/playability of the bow had been improved. I played violin in several groups during high school, but never took the time to have it repaired or cleaned properly and always changed my strings myself.. After not playing for several years while in college and grad school, I moved back home to Southern California and joined two local orchestras. I noticed my violin was badly stained, my bridge was beginning to warp, my bow needed rehairing, and my pegs kept slipping- it was time to have a professional take a look at it. I did some research and remembered I had heard good things about Everjoy, and after hearing my conductor say he has his repairs done there as well, I knew it was a good choice. Before even playing a note, Patrick was able to diagnose everything that needed repairs- including several things I hadn't even noticed. He was very conscientious of my budget as we went over all the repairs, but fortunately even with all the items I had not foreseen, the total cost was very reasonable and within my outlined budget. Patrick had called me during the week to suggest purchasing a new bow, since he noticed my current one was warped slightly to one side and that the weight balance was not ideal for my style of playing. I went back to pick up my violin later the following week and could barely recognize it- it looked pristine and almost brand new. He had also picked out 3 bows for me to try out, each with a different weight balance. His intuition is truly unbelievable, as I ended up purchasing the bow that he predicted I would like best even before I had tested them. The sound that came out was so much cleaner and well rounded than anything I had ever played on my violin before. Before I left, he took the time to explain some of the ways I could better take care of my violin to prevent such extreme repairs. The most interesting thing I learned was from his expertise in tonal adjustment and how switching between brands while changing the strings myself had led to a deterioration in tone, since the sound post and bridge should be adjusted each time as well. A great place for violin repair and tuneup. This is my first time using Everjoy Music to repair and tuneup my violin. After 15 years of neglect, all the strings on my violin are rusted and when I try to change the strings, the sound post fall off. I have not been playing my violin for some years and the violin had been neglected for almost 10 years. After a random search online, I took it in to have it re-stringed, but ended up walking out of the store with a brand new, beautiful violin with beautiful sound. The plaza the store is at is a quiet, office park / commercial plaza with ample parking. The interior of the store is very cleanly kept, quite modest, completely without clutter. Upon walking in, I was greeted immediately by Patrick. I simply love his lively and cheerful energy. He took a look at my beat-up violin and went over item by item what needed to be done to make it playable. He suggested purchasing a new violin in such a careful manner - no pushy sales here - but before that, he asked me if the violin presented any sentimental value to me. I very much appreciated this questions and it showed that he truly cared about my desires and needs. I decided to purchase a new violin instead on my own accord - again, Patrick was not pushy at all and more than willing to work with my needs. He asked me what price range I was comfortable with and showed me two that was within the range. He even played it for me so that I can focus and listen to the sound and determine the one that resonated with me. He was very attentive throughout the whole experience. He made sure the violin was tuned properly, wiped it all down gently, then cleaned my horribly maintained bow. Everything I owned was of quite cheap quality including the resin (I did not have much to spare when I bought my previous violin). Understanding that I was already extending my monthly budget, Patrick kindly gifted me with a very nice resin and a cleaning cloth. Those items may not cost tons, but his considerate gesture really made me a loyal customer already. I love that EverJoy focuses on strings and carry quality string instruments, but what really sets this place apart is professional, compassionate, friendly and genuine care Patrick showed me.
