I started booking sessions with Chrissie for my 7-year-old daughter 5 months ago, after reading the great reviews here on Yelp. It proved once again that Yelp never fails me! Chrissie is very nice and kind and patient (considering my daughter's age, that's not as easy as it seems, her three previous piano teachers would be with me on this) while giving all the technical instructions the kid needs. My family moved to CA about 6 months ago, and Chrissie was recommended to us through a friend. My daughter never had voice lessons before, but she is very interested in musical theater and so Chrissie, who is actively involved in theater, was a good choice. Honestly, our experience with Chrissie has been nothing short of wonderful. Most vocal coaches often resort to just asking kids to "sing this" or "sing that" and try offer advice. Chrissie on the other hand understands the fundamentals of singing and coaching. She does special singing exercises to help strengthen the parts my daughters voice (the way the vocal chords are used, the throat, the diaphragm, breathing) , and knows how to overcome weaknesses in her singing, such as having her change the way some words are pronounced so as to allow her to hit notes that she couldn't previously, or make the words sound clearer when sung. Chrissie also takes a lot of personal time and attention with our daughter, and makes her feel like a friend instead of a student. We've enrolled our daughter for voice lessons with Chrissie for about a month now, and she has been amazing! Our daughter began taking lessons with a different studio in January, but I was concerned she needed to be introduced to vocal techniques more so than reading music and singing songs. Of course the latter is important, but my kid likes to take a stab at songs well beyond her years, which could be harmful to her without the correct approach. Anyway, after the first lesson with Chrissie I knew she was the one for our girl. She makes our daughter feel so welcome, and speaks to her with a genuine interest in the kid stuff she loves to blab about. All of the vocal exercises that have been introduced have already helped my daughter's range. One of the things we're most excited with is the introduction of stage presence and acting. Chrissie actually does voice training! It is a lesson which actually teaches and helps my kids learn vocal techniques and how to improve! They were taking voice lessons elsewhere, but hadn't learned that much until starting with Chrissie! I came to Chrissie a few weeks before my wedding because I was going to do surprise performance for my husband on our wedding day and I wanted to do a little vocal maintenance. Unfortunately, I was only able to take one class with her because wedding schedules got crazy, but man... Chrissie you are AMAZING! She made such a HUGE difference with just one class. To put it quite simply, Chrissie is a phenomenal vocal instructor who really knows how to get to know her student's voice and hone in on the issues that are holding them back from being able to reach their highest potential. To put it into context, I'm a full-time university student who currently works full-time, but even while I worked part-time, I found her lessons extremely affordable, especially compared to many other vocal instructors who can be very expensive. On top of that, her lessons are high quality. I've been a student at this studio taking weekly half-hour lessons since January 2017 (so about 7 months so far) and I hold her in the highest regard. Even after the very first lesson, I saw immediate improvements in my voice. I'm a high tenor, and before I started taking lessons with Chrissie, it was very difficult for me to access the higher registers in my voice with ease, but now I feel like I can fly! Progress has been slow since the first lesson, yet I can feel my voice steadily improving every week. They say that the hardest instrument to master is your own voice, but as a guide who knows her stuff, Chrissie knows which paths to take you to make your journey to becoming a great vocalist much easier. Songs that I previously could not even fathom to try to sing, I find that they are becoming much closer within my grasp. Before Chrissie, I spent a lot of time online trying to figure out how to use my voice, watching Youtube videos and lessons among many other things, but to no avail. However, with Chrissie I find myself understanding my own voice more and more after each lesson, and that's something I couldn't even do on my own before!. She also lets you record the lessons so you can take them home and continue to work on them. As long as you consistently follow her guidance and exercises, there should be absolutely no reason for your voice not to improve! As for Chrissie herself, she's an absolute angel. She's caring, lenient, and on top of that, she sure is a jokester! She makes each lesson fun and I find myself laughing every time I'm with her, and yet even so, the lessons themselves are still packed with high-quality instruction. Where else can you find someone like that? So if you're looking for an affordable, high-quality vocal instructor, look no further! If you're struggling to reach your highest potential, Chrissie knows how to make sure you get there. Chrissie is awesome! I have enjoyed singing since high school (now 1 year out of college) and have been told I have potential, but I would always strain my voice after a couple songs from singing incorrectly. My main goal with Chrissie at the start was to relieve this strain and I'm slowly understanding the mechanics of healthy singing with her help. I just completed my third month with her and I'm very pleased with my progress. I record myself almost everyday and can hear a notable difference in my tone and musicality. With the right tools and teacher, it's easy to improve with time! I recommend Chrissie to anyone who is not fully satisfied with there singing and the 20 lesson package will be worth it! My son has always been a pretty good singer, but trying to get him to the next level, we decided to reach out to a professional vocal coach and found Chrissie. Working with Chrissie has pushed him to the next level. All those hard to reach notes are now well within his vocal range. I could probably write you a novel on why Chrissie is a godsend. First of all, she's an amazing person and makes you feel so, so comfortable. Second of all, she's an incredible teacher who will take your voice miles and miles beyond what you imagined. Third of all, she's hilarious. I came to Chrissie after taking a decade off of singing when I decided that I wanted to record Etta James' "At Last" to play for my now-husband at our wedding as a surprise. I picked a big fish of a song as my comeback choice, and I only had 3 months to get it together. Chrissie got me way past what I was thinking was even possible, and my husband now listens to it on repeat. She even came with me to the studio to record it and warmed me up and guided me through when I was having issues. She was so patient with me, even though there were countless lessons where I broke down, cried, and decided I hated the song and that it was too much for me (I can be a bit dramatic...). Like I said- she's an amazing person. She'll both hold your hand and kick you into gear at the same time, and your song will be all the better for it. Before taking my break from signing, I had worked with several talented vocal coaches, and no one understood my voice or took me to higher levels quite like Chrissie. I found Chrissie though Yelp and checked her out in January to see how it was. With no formal training, I told her my goal was to sing in my church choir. She made me feel very relaxed and explained exercises and musical/vocal terms whenever I didn't understand something. Well, I tried out for my choir in February and made it! I returned in May and signed-up for a package (4 sessions) and with each visit, I learned so much and improved. She records each session and she sets time at the end for you to sing a song of your choice. She's a great teacher! read more

Chrissie is an amazing vocal coach. Several members from my family musical group have been studying under Chrissie since January. The results from just the first few lessons are quite impressive. She is quite knowledgeable about mechanics of proper vocalizing and is able to work with all skill levels of students. Her techniques seem different, but the focus is on proper vocal technique and mechanics that can be applied across all singing opportunities. After each lesson, the ensuing results is very dependent upon the level of practice commitment of each student. She records each lesson that is put on a memory stick you provide her. So you have the recordings with which to practice during the week. She is also very, very responsive by email if you have further questions during the week. We read a binder of information in her studio prior to our first lesson. The recommendation is shorter, more regular lessons, if at all possible. We each had a 30 minute lessons every week. Her website based online scheduling is easily useable and easy to reschedule with reminders emailed to your inbox. We cannot more highly recommend Chrissie. If you are hesitant to utilize her because of her fees, we must say that, "you get what you pay for". You money will not be better spent with either an online course or other less expensive singing teacher. And remember, the success of your improvement depends on your commitment to regular practicing and self improvement. read more
