We had a poor experience from start to end unfortunately…read more I had called and left three voicemails over the span of two weeks, different days and different times. I never got a call back, and I decided to try once more where I finally got someone and booked a session. (Our other local music school was relocating farther from us, and my daughter really wanted lessons.) Our lessons were.. okay. They didn't always start promptly and they were usually in tiny, hot rooms big enough for one small folding chair (plus instrument and standing student with teacher). We tried it out for a couple months and it was not for us. When canceling, they assured me it would be okay, but of course they continued to charge us the following months. I called, and again no return messages. I called again, spoke to someone and they said James would call me back, but not a word since two weeks ago. I had to dispute the charges with my card, but save yourself the effort I went through and seek lessons elsewhere.

Wonderful people and a great store…read more I dropped my clarinet not too long ago and the mouth piece ended up being fully damaged. Also, the keys off the first and second joints fell off. I stopped at several different stores before I came to Grace Music and for some reason all the other stores were very pricey and the workers weren't as hospitable as I would have liked. I found Grace Music on the newspaper and decided to see what it was all about. When I first walked in I saw a bunch of violins and cellos which made me think for a second that I may have came to the wrong place. There was a nice couple who greeted me. The man working there (Mr. Choi) told me he actually specializes in all instruments which was a relief. He fixed my clarinet and gave me a good deal. He was also very helpful on giving me tips about how to keep my clarinet in good shape. While I was waiting to see how much it would be for the damages, I was looking at these newspaper clippings of Mr. Choi in the LA times pasted on the counter. If you read it, it show's he won the national champion contest for autoharp which made him #1 in the world. Crazy huh? All in all i had a great experience. I would definitely recommend this place

A very disappointing experience! I came in with my two…read moredaughters--one needed to have her violin repaired, and the other was hoping to purchase a violin. The elderly lady who helped us showed clear disdain when I mentioned I was looking for a violin in the $100 to $200 range. She said buying a violin at that price was a joke, and repeatedly remarked how poor the quality of the violin I brought in for repair was. I found her attitude extremely uncomfortable, and my daughters felt embarrassed as well. I don't believe anyone should be treated with disrespect just because they are purchasing a lower-priced instrument. I was very put off by the experience, and I truly don't understand where this Korean lady's sense of superiority is coming from.

Recently, I noticed some leaky pads on my saxophone. After bringing it to a different tech who said the sax was bowed (it was not...) and gave me an estimate of $500 to fix it (after charging $40 just for the consult...) I decided to stop at IHOMI for a second opinion. I am soo glad that I did. Jim and Melanie were both amazing. They were so friendly and patient, showing and explaining where the issues were and how they could be fixed. And even though I came during the busy season, at the end of summer, just before the start of school, they were able to squeeze in the repairs and had it back to me that same week, and all for a fraction of the cost that the other tech had quoted.

From there we signed him up for: Weekly Private Lessons, a Weekly Performance Camp, and a Beatles Summer Camp. This place is awesome. Like, super awesome. Like, if I had a School of Rock in my neighborhood when I was growing up I'd be a Rockstar right now instead of sitting at home on a Saturday night writing Yelp reviews. From the Black, Red and White rock and roll color scheme, to the cool furniture and art, the dual Jam rooms that have full drumsets, guitars, Fender Amps, keyboards, basses, the drum rooms that each have two kits in them and all the lesson rooms - This place is a musicians dream. And it's made for kids!! They'll teach em as young as 7 and the owner and instructors are all extremely nice and wonderful with kids. I'm amazed that the Instructors can take these kids of various ages and skill levels and in a matter of hours have them playing killer versions of legendary classic rock tunes. I'd write down how much it is, but I can't remember! I think $75 a session? I'm auto-billed monthly and I'm happy to pay whatever it costs. I'm grateful that there's one of these nearby. Playing guitar is something that my son will be able to do for the rest of his life and he's progressing extremely fast thanks to this school. If you have a young one and want to get them into music, this is hands-down the best place to do it. Would definitely go out of my way for.

We enrolled him in Rock 101 on guitar because of his interest in music, lack of interest in sports, and our desire to get him involved in something that would force him out of his comfort zone. His private teacher Cameron is just awesome, and has provided our son with consistent, encouraging feedback. He's made our son comfortable in a way I didn't expect from this place. We signed up our younger son for drums, and he loves it as well. I highly encourage kids to sign up. It's free to try out and the monthly cost is worth every penny.
