Absolutely beautiful park with a great view. The park is beautiful for a jog as they have paved roads, beautiful view of the water, and plenty of grass for your fur baby to play on. There's free parking but definitely a struggle to find a spot during rush hours or during events. I went there on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't bad at all as I was able to find a parking spot without an hassle. Plenty of benches around the park for your convenience to sit and relax. I find this place even beautiful for a stroll with a date or simply to just do yoga. I have seen people do yoga and I totally wish to do the same next time I visit. Plenty of people walk their dogs and it is not an off leash park so make sure to keep your pet on leash at all times

This is a lovely place to spend some time when the weather is nice! There were many, many families relaxing in the park. There's grassy areas for a picnic, a beach, paths for walking and jogging, and the fort. While the park does get pretty crowded on nice weekends, it was still a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours, and it's a great option for free family fun. Unlike the fort on George's Island, you can't just walk in and explore Fort Independence on your own...you can only visit the fort itself as part of a tour, which usually leaves on the hour. However, our tour guide was very informative and we learned quite a bit. Also, unlike the fort of George's Island, they have done a lot of work to reconstruct and furnish some of the rooms so it's more like a museum, and you can get a better sense of what each room was for.

A great park to explore and walk around with pleasure bay there to enjoy a swim or to just wet your feet! The weather is always nice when I'm there! I gave a 4 star rating due to the fort being closed and no information regarding its updated closure or reopening. I had to really dig deep to find out the fort has been closed indefinitely due to COVID. If you plan an visiting to explore the fort just know it is closed, but the outside is free to roam and still has statues to see!

This is mostly a review on the Fort and the tour. This place is awesome. Well maintained piece of history. While a lot of the features inside are remakes and not original the overall structure and experience is amazing. For volunteers the tour guides are great and you can tell they take a lot of pride in what they do there. Parking in the area is easy and FREE, and not to mention the tour is free. Really a great way to get out and learn something fun and interesting with whoever.

Located on Castle Island, Fort Independence, built between 1834 & 1851, sits prominently on a hill looking out onto Boston Harbor. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 1st fort was built on this site in 1634. The evolution to its present structure is quite interesting. Free tours of the Fort run every Saturday & Sunday from 12:00 noon to 3:30pm from May through Labor Day.

His boat is clean and steady. We went lobster fishing. The boat is so steady, it wasn't rocking around too much. Rick gave us each a job to do. One was to record how many lobsters in the trap, which were keepers and which we had to throw back because it was either female (breeder) or too small. I had the job of measuring the lobster for size. Rick taught us that if it's a breeder, you clip the tail to indicate that it's a breeder. My sister in law was recording the number caught in each trap. My brother in law helped with steering the boat (he has a boat too.) My husband helped with gathering the lobster trap with a pole. I didn't know pig skin is used as bait. Although I was nervous, Rick kept me busy with putting bands on the lobster claws. I became an expert at it. At the end of the day, Rick put our catch on the grill. Let me tell you, grilled lobsters are the best! Especially when it's fresh out of the ocean. There was also a small crab in the catch too. I had forgotten about being nervous in the boat. Definitely book a trip with Rick, he makes boating fun! Even for people with anxiety being in the water. I want to go boating again with Rick this summer! I'm not anxious with Rick. He's great! Maybe this time I'll learn to fish!

The park is quite long, it starts in Quincy/Dorcester area, goes through Milton, and I believe ends in Mattapan (Since it is a long path, I have not quite walked/cycled the whole way). On warmer days, there are more people out and about, but it doesn't feel crammed at all. Pros: - View of the water & the city depending on where you start - A few places to park your car (I normally park on the Dorcester side and have yet to see the lot completely full) - There are a few athletic fields so could be a great place to play some ball Cons: - There is almost always dog poop in the grassy area so be careful about where you step & if you are considering a picnic I would carefully inspect the floor before laying claim to a piece of grass.

The ground was that rubbery surface, but if he fell he was going to hurt himself & the slides are really high & he has no concept of slow down or be careful... So it is a beautiful place for walks or flying a kite, but the playground is for older kids... Other than that a great place to visit!

We went out on a beautiful day looking for stripers and flounders. Our short ride to his spots was pleasant and Tim entertained us with fishing tales (who knew bananas are unlucky and should never be brought aboard a fishing boat!). At one of the first few spots, flounders started to hit. We reeled in one after another. Tim put them in a tank with circulating water to make sure they are alive when we return. We hit a few more spots for stripers but alas it was not our day. From the chatter over the radio, it was clear that no one was catching any. Tim felt bad that we didn't catch any stripers and took us to a few more spots (extended our charter on his dime) to catch a flounders. When we got back to the dock, he cleaned all the fish for us and packed them in ziplock bags. The boat was fantastic: comfortable, well-equipped, and zippy. I felt well-taken care of and well-guided. Tim is a seasoned fisherman who is warm, fun, and helpful. I would highly recommend him. You won't regret it!
