I came in as a new patient to forsyth since it's an easy stop for me on the E line. I've had a cracked tooth that was extremely painful, and I couldn't deal with it anymore. Dr. Maha was very compassionate and she did an emergency crown and helped me manage the pain until my next visit. Watch out. These people are crooks. They are disingenuous and try and trick you to coming in and getting all cosy before they tell you their latest scam. For a cleaning by a student, the price has been for a long time $20. You go in at 8 a.m. and you're done by about 11 a.m. the disingenuous scam is they get you in for a bullshit screening at 8 a.m. and waste half your precious morning and then they tell you that you have to come back for FOUR more 8 a.m. visits all at $20, where they will only clean one quarter of your mouth each time. So it is quadruple the cost and quadruple the time wasting and pain and suffering. No thanks. You can kiss my hairy royal ass, Forsyth and the same goes for you Mandy, the manager. First off my dentist happened to never tell he switched off my insurance plan, despite being covered earlier. That happens I get, some honest communication would've been nice. So naturally I try and follow up to find out when I'll receive my bill. So I call leave a voicemail, wait a week nothing. Call again, leave a voicemail again nothing. Call again try and reach and operator and get a busy dial tone and then get hung up on. I used to honestly think this place was great, but after being with them for over two years and to be avoided and ignored is really unfortunate and that's not even counting the mistrust sewn in by my dentist's shady practices. Short of heading into the office and having them print a bill out and paying on the spot I'm not really sure what else to do. If you work in the Kendall sq area I'd suggest going anywhere else honestly. read more

In December 2015, Dr. G put in a silver filling for a cavity. It was on a tooth way in the back, so it didn't look too bad. Unfortunately, the other week (mid-October 2016) I went in for a cleaning at a new dentist, and after taking X Rays, we found out that there is already a cavity forming under the old filling. I'm super bummed, to say the least. The filling Dr. G did didn't even last a year! To repair the situation, my dentist will have to remove the old filling, build up the base, take an impression, and then put in a temporary filling. Then he will send out the impression to the lab so that they can model a ceramic onlay for me. The lab will take a few days to build the only, then I have to come back to get it put in place. My final out of pocket cost will be $1000+ (even with insurance). This is on top of what I payed last year for the filling. Since the old filling is somewhat close to the nerves in the molar, my new dentist warned me that there is a slight chance the nerve will get damaged during the procedure and I will have to get a root canal on top of that. Needless to say now I am even more anxious. I wish I had gotten a second opinion before I went through with the first filling :( read more

I'm starting FFA at a 4 because I haven't finished out my treatment there. I have a stories dental history starting when I was about 6 (so 2 decades of mayhem). I've had it all. Braces. Surgery. Headgear. Extractions. You name it. The one thing I never had was cavities. That is until 2009 when a dentist near my old apartment informed me that sealants on my molars were improper and I now needed fillings in all of them. Unfortunately the fillings failed as well. I had to have one extracted. To make a long story short my teeth basically rotted from the inside out. There's nothing I could really do. Anyways, when you couple this with 5+ years of braces and more there are likely to be issues. So I ended up at FFA following a recommendation from 1800Dentists (yeah I know, ridiculous). The practice is run by faculty from surrounding dental schools and is also connected to Forsyth Institutes which are a leading dental research institution. I went in expecting an extraction. What I got was a thorough review from the periodontist and endodontist on site. They have at least one of every kind of dental professional here. Apparently my tooth may be salvageable. We will see. In any event all the staff were friendly. The place seems pretty state of the art. No condescending attitudes here. I left with 2 more appointments and was recommended to consider all my options before proceeding. They told me to think about cost/benefit and overall dental health. I was really impressed. I scheduled an appointment for my child last week. The receptionist had to call me back three or four times for billing information within a 45 minute period after I made the appointment. Sign number one that I should have headed for the hills but since I am going out on FMLA for a substantial amount of time, and she simply needed a cleaning, I figured, "How incompetent could they be?" Apparently, plenty. When we arrived for the appointment this morning, the receptionist began laughing as though she had ingested all the nitrous oxide in the office, and was gabbing away on her cell phone while staring at us. I politely explained that we were there for an appointment. Receptionist became hostile and claimed the dentist had an emergency this morning, and she had tried calling me all day yesterday but didn't have a number on file for me. Not sure how or why the condescending receptionist would think I believed her. Arrogant, lying incompetence at its best. read more

I'm 28 weeks pregnant and had some gum bleeding issues. Two weeks ago I went there to have some treatment. The first impression to the place is great. The receptionist is friendly. The waiting room is nice and clean. The dentist was on time and didn't make me wait at all!! I appreciated that a lot! I just hope my OBGYN can be on time as well... And the office was nice and looks very new with a great view as well. The dentist treated me was Dr. Harry Hu. He was very patient and thoughtful. I didn't want to risk myself to have X-Ray for the deep cleaning. He noticed my concerns and did the emergency treatment which didn't hurt me at all but addressed the bleeding issue. It was the first time that I never felt any pain during a dental appointment. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I will be back to have deep cleaning after the baby is out and ask my husband to have an appointment there as well. Some tips to the parking: It is FREE! Ask the receptionist for a coupon to get the parking validated. Just the parking entrance can be easy to miss from one direction. Need to pay attention to that. read more

In April 2022, I went to Forsyth for a periodontal consult, regarding my advanced periodontal condition. I was matched with Dr. Kantarci (epic bio) to review the treatment plan that my regular dentist and periodontist had implemented. The staff made sure to get the necessary x-rays in advance of Dr. Kantarci's review. Dr. Kantarci reviewed my paperwork; following this, he provided a lot of context regarding the general courses of the disease that he believes are likely. He went into detail and demonstrated via the x-rays why he believed that gum surgery to restore bone was not indicated in my case (and why it would be indicated in others). He provided some possible additional options along the similar conservative treatment lines that my existing providers had implemented. You can see why I felt reassured that the current course was the right one (remember these are $100K decisions if you think about the cost of implants etc.); you don't necessarily get that cogent understanding as a layman reading the academic literature. From a business perspective, scheduling the appointments and working with the office staff on payments etc. was easy, even though I was not local to the Boston area. read more

Due to a medical condition I couldn't see a dentist for any major dental work, only basic cleanings for about 3 years. All of the procedures weren't covered by my insurance so I applied for extra dental coverage through DPH and received approval to get the necessary treatment done. I contacted the dentist office to set up an appointment and ask about a treatment plan also informing them about the covered cost, I was excited. The patient services coordinator for the dentist office said to me no one is going to want me around with my attitude. I informed her it wasn't an attitude, I was excited to begin treatment and my case manager at DPH said I'm covered. I was hung up on and cried my eyes out over the rude encounters. About an hour later I received a call from DPH telling me I can't call and be rude with an attitude to the staff at the dentist office. I informed her I wasn't being rude, excited to get treatment and I had a few questions about the services available before choosing to receive extensive dental work, absolutely. My question to DPH was how did this conversation transpire between them and the dental office without my permission or any release on file? Apparently they've been working with the dentist office for several years and feel as if they can hold personal vent sessions about clients. The employees from my first to my last experience were rude and extremely unpleasant. Violating HIPPA, predatory pricing and practices is prohibited under M.G laws. It's also very much against the law to find out someone's receiving financial assistance for a medical condition/Disability and use it to treat them like trash. read more

Professional staff but a very bad customer service experience. I had an appointment for a periodic examination which included teeth cleaning and a dentist routine check up. After the (very good!) teeth cleaning I was told that I should wait 15 minutes for the dentist to come and check me up, and I was moved to another room for the wait period. After 35 minutes of waiting to the dentist I had to leave and get back to work so I went to the front desk to inform them that this is the case. The (very nice!) front desk agent went to find out what happened and when she returned she told me that the dentist 'is behind schedule and is about to finish soon'. At that point it has been already about 40 minutes after I was told to wait 15 minutes for the dentist (one hour and 20 minutes altogether since I got there), and I had to leave. I wonder for how much longer I would have waited there before someone would bother to tell me anything. 5 star rating for being professional combined with 1 star for a bad customer service gives 3 starts rating. read more
