This place has a fantastic menu, we eat here regularly. The service staff is super friendly and they speak very knowledgeably to the menu items. They regularly do a special of the day that is unique and tasty.

    Best Irish Coffee in town!

I come here for the quality food and friendly staff. I'm very impressed by the way the owners have built up this landmark. Definitely one of La Crosse's finest and cost friendly dining experiences

    Cheese curds

Wonderful service and delicious food! We sat outside with our two dogs and enjoyed some of the best cheese curds we have ever had! Also enjoyed a pan fried fish fry and chef burger. Service was wonderful and they were very accomodating and brought water for the dogs.

    Banana Custard French Toast. Fantastic!

Two thumbs up from me Pretty good craft beer choices Great food and service This place definitely looks like a townie dive from the outside. Thought we would walk in and the jukebox would turn off and everyone would turn and stare. Warmly welcomed right away. Staff was super friendly and informative about the food and drink menu. They don't have as wide of a selection of beer as Bodega does downtown LAX, but what they do have is very solid. Maybe 8 taps and twenty or so in cans. They also have a local Untappd Badge right now which is what drew us there in the first place. They have a weekend brunch and it did not disappoint in the least. The Banana Custard French Toast was one of the best things I have had to eat in awhile. My traveling companion really enjoyed his biscuits and gravy. We both agreed it was our favorite meal of the trip and it was not even close to the most expensive.

Food! Seared tuna with aioli sauce....

Around the 90-minute mark, we got a text saying we were 2nd in line to be seated. When we let the hostess know, she snapped back, "That doesn't mean you'll be next." She explained--in a very rude, condescending tone--that smaller groups would be seated ahead of us if a table opened for four. Not ideal, but we stayed patient. While waiting, we noticed tables being cleaned and split apart from a larger party near the bar. I politely asked the hostess if those tables could be used for our group. She cut me off mid-sentence and spoke to me extremely slowly and dismissively, as though I didn't understand basic seating. It was unnecessary and unprofessional, but again--we stayed calm. When we were finally seated, our group was split between two different sections, even though the tables were literally touching each other. The boys ended up with two tables of their own, and the adults were placed at two tables next to them. We still had three more adults arriving, so we asked our server (who was wonderful) if we could move one unused table from the boys' area to the adult side. She said she'd need a manager. Who shows up? The same rude hostess--now calling herself the manager. We asked if we could move the unneeded table so our adults could sit together. She immediately refused and started lecturing us about "affecting her waitresses' livelihood." She insisted each waitress needed their own tables and that she wouldn't "take away" from them. She repeated "livelihood" multiple times, even though we clearly explained that we were all on the same bill and were trying to make things easier for everyone, including the staff. We offered multiple reasonable solutions: Seat us together while allowing both servers to split the table and the tips Let the servers collaborate since we were one large group Allow us to use one table that was otherwise empty Every suggestion was shut down. She told us she had been "accommodating enough already." That line alone says everything. Meanwhile, the actual waitresses were fantastic. We tipped them very well because they provided great service. Our frustration was 100% with the "manager/hostess," not the servers. We visit the Buzzard Billy's in Des Moines regularly and have always had excellent experiences. Unfortunately, the La Crosse location handled customer service very differently--and not in a good way. Being talked down to, dismissed, and blamed for impacting staff "livelihood" when we were simply trying to sit together was unacceptable. For large groups: I cannot recommend this location. We won't be returning. Do better, Wisconsin.

The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm "Good morning, hon!" and my friend had a coffee that could wake the dead (or at least a sleep-deprived newcomer). My husband and I just finished our second dinner here and once again sat there wondering how this level of food is casually happening in our small town. Start with the whipped ricotta (sweet-sour cherry jam, pistachios, mint, warm filone bread). It's the kind of dish that makes the whole table go silent except for the occasional "wow! The stuffed mushrooms with house-made giardiniera (served in a little old-school paper cup) are ridiculous. Then the meatballs. Listen carefully: these are the best meatballs we have ever had. Ever. Tender, moisty as hell, clearly packed with Parmesan or some kind of Italian wizardry. Absolutely absurd. Entrées like the Americano Bianco, chicken vodka parmesan, and the deeply comforting spaghetti alla vodka (find meatballs in this one) all deliver. We still haven't managed to catch the lasagna bolognese because it sells out every night -- apparently you need to arrive before about 6:30 if you want a fighting chance. And dessert? The banana pudding tiramisu is borderline illegal. Bonus detail: the playlist is also tippy tops -- banger after banger that has you swaying in your seat and singing along between bites. La Crosse: PLEASE support this place. Restaurants this creative and special do not show up in small towns very often. If we somehow lose this gem because people stuck with chain restaurants... I will take it personally.

The pork chops were dry, zero juice, zero flavor and tough. Perhaps they are made in big batches and stuck under a lamp? I tried three times to cut them with a knife, I finally gave up and tore a piece off. I tried to chew it. The asparagus was long pieces that looked nice in presentation. The problem was it was almost all stalk. I couldn't cut that either. I picked that up with my fingers the top stems (the tender edible tops) as well. I was hungry. What a mess. The cook tossed a bake potato and it was not even sliced into. I turned and put the entire plate at the table behind me. The kids meal was huge. 5 good chicken strips and half a plate of undercooked french fries. To be fair, my foster granddaughter was not sitting still. We walked around to hold her attention, just in time to hear trouble behind the bar. One server refusing to break an egg behind the bar, repeating herself 3 times in a negative tone, saying she would bring it from home. I view that as tacky, I was a customer within earshot. My family did not complain about their food. They got boxes for leftovers. My son's girlfriend offered to box mine. I took it home, to be courteous, but had to throw it away. They apologized after we left as it was a terrible choice for Mother's Day. I highly doubt that anyone will read this post, I'm not sure if anyone cares.
