I'm so happy I found Forever Timeless. As I drove up, it felt like I was going to enter a body shop, or I had stumbled upon an all-night Rave that was deep into its 20th hour! The exterior is al brick and block glass. If you aren't paying attention, you will miss it. The front door is locked and requires being buzzed in. Once inside though, the staff will point you to what you need. I went in wanting a train set for Christmas. Growing up, I never could afford one, so I had no clue what to buy. Janice the owner was very helpful and patience in helping me get the right cars for them, because these are new to model cars; and she even sent one for my granddaughter to try. (That was so kind). Oh, man! So I lost my mom recently. Feeling very grown about that. She bought me my first model. I stayed with it for a long time But you know... life. looking through our storage I found some Bandai Gundam PG kits I paid way too much for in Japan a decade or so ago. Amidst downsizing and such I figured why not finish/refurbish em? So I googled and made the drive! So great to find a model/hobby store that's BLACK OWNED! WHAT?! Lots of great stuff! funky layout with the buzzer but now that I get it... I get it! Already itching to go back. What a cool place. AND THEY GOT TAMIYA STUFF, FAM! I emptied my eBay cart. As a non-big-box dude, its great to stumble on a small-batch well-appointed spot with some history. 25 year?! Cool. Highly recommend. A biz partner lives around the corner so its Nice to have a reason to be late. the front of the shop is all tools. the back is steeped in every kind of Model and figurine a hobbyist would like. Now this spot is super charming! It felt like we was entering a private club for elite geeks and collectors. This is the spot is your into snap kits and collecting models cars and ww2 models are vast! Trains was a little limited and that's why I couldn't give 5 stars, but the owner was awesome and gave awesome customer service! My brother bought a few cars(that's his first love and first thing he started collecting) and I was just in awe of this gem of a spot.. just get more trains!! My husband and i sort of wandered in (i didn't think it was open since you can't tell from the street) but we got buzzed in and WOW was it worth it, an amazing collection, some of which my husband recognized from his childhood with plenty of toys and models with all sorts of themes. GREAT stock of Horror stuff and a super friendly lady at the counter. We will absolutely be back, this place is a hidden gem and well worth the trip on a rainy Satuday afternoon. read more

Pros: * Lots of models & diecasts. Cons: * Everything is over priced. * The store is in a bad area. * You have to be buzzed in. * The store looks like a dank nuclear bomb shelter when you're inside. This is why dedicated hobby shops are going out of business. If you want a model kit, you're better off going to Hobby Lobby for one. And you can't beat those 40% off coupons. I visited Forever Timeless Hobby shortly after Christmas looking for a model of a very difficult to find aircraft (an Alpha Jet). Janice met me as soon as I entered, greeted me, and inquired if I was looking for anything specific. I responded I was just browsing and she welcomed me gracefully. I looked through the entire store but she noted I was spending more time on the aircraft models, then suggested I look in one more location. Exactly where she suggested I found what I was looking for at a very fair price. I'll be back, I miss old school hobby shops and have many warm memories of browsing with my father and stepfather for models to build together. In the next few years I hope to do the same for my children at Forever Timeless. read more

They have a lot of models, but the prices are no joke. I was going to buy a car model for my friend But 90% of models are American brand, muscle cars something. I didn't found what I want but I eventually bought a car model because I spent one hour on there, I don't wanna leave with nothing, and there is no price tag on the model, so I just picked one and go for check out. A model I could buy online with 20 bucks but I spent 80bucks on this store.!!! However that lady is nice, but I feel scammed. read more

Oh boy, this place is great! You'll need to be buzzed in, so don't get fooled by the brick outside. It's filled with toys and models! Paints, glues, race cars, antique cars, tanks, airplanes, semis, dump trucks, rockets (the kind you launch) and more. If you're new to model building, Skill 1 is for for about 8+, but some can be snapped together. Skill 2 is 10+, requires Testors glue cement, and possibly painting. Stop in to this awesome hobby shop and say hello to Janice. Super helpful. read more

This place has every model car, plane, doll, you can think of. If they don't have it, the owner can get it for you. She even has models that are retro and some that are collector's items. The staff are friendly and helpful. The prices are comperable to other hobby shops. This is the most complete model shop I have ever seen though. Take a look inside if you get the chance. I have been their a few times and it is like a great toy land with almost everything you may want. The place also has like a secret entrance which makes it adventurous and once you enter it looks endless. Prices a little high but the product is there and you carry it out with you. People that work there make you feel welcomed and let you look around with no pressure, and will assist you if needed. I am happy to have found the place and will go back there to work on my hobbies which all my grand kids love to look at amazement and ask me to help them get started. read more

I went here looking for 1:87 and Ho scale figures for my miniature garden creations, and believe me there was plenty to chose from, yes the prices are high but not like some of the other hobby stores I've been too, not to mention certain internet shops not only have the highest prices but also ridiculous shipping prices. Shopping this way I was able to buy American and see what I was buying before I bought it. She knew exactly where everything was. This place is almost hidden , it looks like a concrete bunker. You have to be buzzed in , and then you see what might be the hugest model car selection I've ever seen. You can find a model of pretty much anything you might want one of , from zeppelin to Star Destroyer. They also have a good amount of collectibles die cast cars , collectible figures and model rockets. My only gripe is that I literally couldn't fit down some of the aisles without removing my coat. The prices are near rock bottom , and the guys there bend over backward to find you what you need. If the space was bigger and a lot easier to find what you want , I would give this place 5 stars. read more

This place looks like a bunker with only a small door in the front but once you get in ... damn there's millions of boxes around the place.It is not very well sorted but that's ok if you aren't looking for anything specific. About two third of their stock are cars and most of them are old school american muscle and low-rides though I hope they had more Japanese kits from Tamiya and Fujimi. They also have motorcycles, tanks, planes, battleships, RCs, tools and paint blah blah blah. If you can't find what you're looking for the shop owner will be happy to order one for you. If I found this place when I was a kid I could probably spend a whole day in there. Definitely coming back. read more

Visited Forever Timeless Hobby Shop today for the first time. As someone has already pointed out, the store is more or less a concrete bunker without giant store front windows or loud neon signs announcing its presence. If you're into models, die cast, supplies, etc., you should check this place out, it's literally stacked from floor to ceiling with a huge selection of inventory. I talked to two nice, knowlegable fellows working there who made it easy for me to find the Tamiya Putty I was looking for. Since "Forever Timeless" is one of the very last surviving hobby shops in Chicago, I've got to give it 5 stars. read more

A neighbor recently gifted my son and I two storage totes of quality condition Tyco Slot Car track. The accompanying cars though showed varying stages of adolescent use and abuse. Fearful a 20 year old hand-me- down toy could quickly turn into an expensive project, I almost shelved the collection for a rainy day. After a quick google map search an a phone call, we shot up to FTH's and were more than satisfied on selection and prices. We will definitely be returning when the pocket book allows. Also big props to the female who assisted us, not only on her great customer service, and pleasant demeanor, but for "checking" another customer w/ his cussing in front of my 3 year old son. read more

This was my first time their. As i walked in I was greeted by a very friendly lady-owner Janice. what I was looking for is a good plastic model store. i build all types of models. Her selection of armor, ships, and aircraft is good at best. She has some rare kits but I would like more of the newer stuff in aircraft and ships. But thats just me. She excels in car kits, both in plastic and diecast, with many discontinued and rare kits. She also has a smal rairoad section as well. if us mdelers started going in her shop more I think she wouuld start catering more to us. she will ship across the country which is great also if you find that rare kit at her place. Prices are a little high but i'll pay a little more to find that kit im missing for my collection and support an owner who's willing to help out the modeler. Thanks Janice i will be back. read more

If low prices are your only motivation, you can probably find better prices online but then you'll miss the charm of this place and the two guys there. It is nice to browse all the different models there, right in front of you, particularly good for beginners or those who didn't decide on a specific model yet. It is like organized chaos so don't expect things to be all sorted by year and model. Set aside some time and just browse and soak it all in. My only want is for them to have a bit more foreign car selection. Although there's plenty of nice cars to choose from the domestic brands. read more

This hobby shop is AWESOME!! It's one of those places that are tucked away and you would never know it existed unless you walked right in front of it. It's a pretty small shop but they literally have every model car you can think of from Dukes of Hazard to Fast and the Furious. This shop is packed with stuff from floor to ceiling. The two men that work there are very helpful. As the other reviewer said, if they don't have what you're looking for (highly doubtful) they will order it for you. The prices are very reasonable. I have to tell you, I have been building model cars for over 20 years now and this place used to be a favorite of mine. The best part about this place is that its hidden, not a whole lot of attention, which means alot of stock for me. Now to the negatives. First and foremost, they need to get a space that is atleast twice the size of what it is currently. It is way, way too small. Im not a giant man, but not small either. The back aisles are almost impossible to walk through if youre 250+. And the "main" aisle isnt much bettter. They have models from the floor to the ceiling. Problem is you cannot see any of the models below your waste unless you bend over or squat down. Again, an issue with spacing. My next problem is the organized chaos. I have never seen a place with so much inventory, Ill give them that. But that place has no walk in business, why not try to organize a bit. Lastly, and this is my biggest problem I see. They want waaaaaay too much money for a standard kit. I understand models are getting more expensive these days, I get it. But models that havent been issued for years, that arent even going to be close to collectable are marked way too high in price. Even basic kits that are $21-25 elsewhere, they have marked at $29.99. For what? Because you have it? I saw a model kit that cant sell on ebay, yes ebay, for more than $10, in that store for $45!!! Doesnt make sense. And lose the attitude people, you shouldnt have that much confidence in your store with it being the way that it is. And you have no knowledge when it comes to models and the companies so save it, you sound idiotic when you talk about it. You people know one thing, and one thing only. And thats how to lose customers and how to not sell products. Needless to say, after buying from their establishment for about 5 years now, I will no longer be returning. Chicagoland Hobbies on Northwest highway is the way to go. If they dont have it, they can order it. If they cant order it, try ebay. Youll get whatever you want for a whole lot cheaper than going to this place. Sorry to bash you guys, but my last two visits were awful, unacceptable. read more
