When I purchased the home, I knew that I loved the layout but hated the finishings, so as soon as I closed, I immediately started looking for a contractor. Right away, I was impressed by Grant's professionalism. After a few minutes of standard pleasantries, he got right down to business. We spent about a half hour walking through each room in my home, talking through what I wanted to do. Based on the walkthrough, Grant quickly turned around a detailed bid, and we started the project shortly thereafter using the bid as our project plan. In addition to the initial walk-through, I worked with Melissa on a number of aesthetic selections. One area where Melissa played a crucial role was the layout for the master bathroom. I knew the existing layout utilized the space very poorly, but I had no idea how exactly to rearrange everything. Melissa came back with 3 options (one of which we moved forward with), and I know I would never have ended up with the design we landed on without her help. Due to my short timeframe, we started the project without drawings or precise plans (other than what was prepared for the initial bid). Tyler was incredibly adept at reacting quickly during the project, especially when last minute changes were needed. Overall, we finished within the agreed upon timeframe, and only exceeded the original budget for items I added during the project. All the subs they brought in were great, especially the painters and tile guys. When we did the final walkthrough, there were a few minor issues, but they were fixed in an expeditious manner at no extra charge.

I had scheduled it months in advance and had closed for business for 2 days. My original painter cancelled on me the night before. In a total panic I came to thumbtack. Michael, the manager, reached out to me right away. Without even looking at the space that needed painting he agreed to honor the quote from my original painter. Two of his guys showed up early the next morning and I was very impressed with how meticulous they were in their setup and prep work for painting. The job ended up taking longer than expected because the walls required two coats of paint. The painters stayed late and finished at 8:30 pm. We did a walk through and everything looked great. The next morning when I went in to start putting everything back together I noticed there were multiple spots that needed touch ups. We didn't notice the night before because it was dark and my studio doesn't have the best lighting. The painters couldn't have known that spots were missed because it was so dark - I do not blame them at all! I called Michael who immediately pulled one of the painters off another job to come back and do the touch ups. He walked the rooms with me and touched up every spot I showed him. He was patient and kind with me! Everyone I worked with was kind, patient, and did everything they could to make sure I was happy with their work. They were very understanding of my last minute need for painting! Highly highly highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I reached out on Yelp and Rafael responded quickly and called me to discuss the issues. He was able to get me an estimate in a couple of days and, when we agreed on the scope, was able to get started quickly. Although I haven't seen the work in person, my tenant said that all looks good. When I see for myself in a couple weeks, I have no doubt that my expectations will be exceeded. The best part is that I was told that the work would be done within 7-10 days and it was completed exactly when promised! I have never had a contractor actually complete when promised so I was pleasantly surprised indeed! Hi everyone, I wanted to share our horrible experience with this Construction company called owned…read moreby Omri Nagar. Unfortunately we had a horrible experience with this company, particularly with the owner Omri. With time we also learned that we are not the only family that went through that with him. Omri is an amateur, unprofessional, and a greedy person that tries to cash out as fast as possible without taking responsibilities for his wrongdoing and damages. Just to list a few things that were done: He destroyed one of our appliances that we were very clear on our intention to keep, he painted our master bedroom that was renovated few months prior to construction and was instructed not to touch it, he removed one of the interior doors and placed it outside for days which caused it to rotten, he took 2 large pieces of our granite countertops without our permission and after we asked to keep them, he destroyed the new flooring by trying to clean them with a material that clearly states on the label that it is not recommended for this kind of flooring. On that last example on the flooring, he later confessed that it was his first time doing that type of flooring. That was very frustrating. He didn't finish the work that he was already payed for and just left the site. The best way to show his work is to see it. Images of his amateur work are attached. Update: I just read your response. Unsurprisingly, the way you handle this review as exactly the same way as you handle the low standard of your work, the damages and missing items throughout your project. I added images of the transactions showing some of the money I paid you. Readers with common sense and basic decency will judge by themselves if I was a customer or not.

I waited almost a full year to post this review so that I could wait and write a clear and concise…read morereview that wasn't shaded by disappoint or anger. So here goes: I preface this review by stating that I know that most renovations, if not all, run into snags. Delays, errors, miscommunications happen and is a regular part of the industry. I work in building products myself (14 years now) and have an understanding of the remodeling process. The TLDR of the following is: Do not proceed with 19Squared. The pitch is perfect, but delivery is lacking. Poor communication, poor craftsmanship, at a high cost are what we encountered. I reached out to three other remodeling companies, one I had even used before on a project, before choosing 19Squared. Scott Sefton is a very good salesman in the sense that he can gain your confidence quickly. He said when we first spoke that they are not the cheapest, but they do things right. He only made good on one of those things. I had a feeling things would go south when they showed up one day early than the scheduled date to start the project. From then on, we had to chase them down to get any information on what was happening next, who was doing it, and when were they going to do it. Turns out they only have one guy that they hire to do the bulk of the work post-demo or at least that was the case for us, and that poor dude is clearly spread thin. We were told our itty-bitty kitchen would take 3-4 weeks. It took 4 months. The communication with us as well as between themselves was just really bad and decisions were made that we didn't approve or have a change order for that resulted in more work needing to be done. I can handle a few snafus as long as there is an open line of communication and acknowledgement of the issues reported. Several times we brought up a problem, it was not acknowledged by Scott and he deflected and got defensive. He left his project manager, Joel, in charge of dealing with the issues, but it seemed like communication between Scott and Joel was not any better than their communication with us. Turns out that when you hire 19Squared, you are really hiring Fernandez Remodeling which appears to consist of 2 people. So, if you have two people running several jobs, I can imagine the quality of the work and the speed of the projects will suffer tremendously. At the end of the day, Scott is the salesman who takes your money and then you don't ever really hear from him again. Every time I had to contact him about something he would always say, "Oh we're ahead of schedule." But every time I asked him exactly what that schedule was, he deflected and it was not in the contract. Point is, there isn't a schedule. You are at their mercy, and they have all of your money. Once we discovered all the very expensive hardware we ordered was installed crooked on our cabinets, we had had it. This was AFTER other problems. We took the keypad off the door and sent them notice. From there we let them fix a few things, then gave them the boot. Afterward, we had our plumber come replace the cheap parts installed under the sink that kept leaking and have since finished some of the painting and other things on our own. We also had to get the grout entirely redone because after two attempts to grout the floor, the grout kept coming out discolored and uneven. We had to touch up all the walls and the paint on the cabinets isn't even. There are also blotches in the lower cabinet stain and a lot of drip marks from the clear coat. We discovered recently they installed the storm door upside down and threw out the magnets that were supposed to help keep it stay shut and one of the cabinets now has a crack in it. They have a 1-year workmanship warranty, but there is no way I am letting them touch a thing in my home again. It's a shame that we didn't get the same kind of professional treatment it seems other reviewers did. Presuming the authenticity of the reviews that is. We were led to believe that trades experts would be completing the job, but the result was a very expensive hand-man job and we still aren't done fixing things.
