This is our first house to build and I've heard a multitude of nightmare stories regarding cost overruns, change orders, poor scheduling and even worse from friends that have built houses and done major remodel projects and wanted to spell things out very clearly, from the beginning, to avoid as many of these pitfalls as possible. Before we made the choice to work with Hatfield, we interviewed his team as much as they interviewed us to ensure everyone knew what the process would be like and what everyone's expectations were. Unfortunately we had a horrible experience with this company, particularly with the owner Omri. With time we also learned that we are not the only family that went through that with him. Omri is an amateur, unprofessional, and a greedy person that tries to cash out as fast as possible without taking responsibilities for his wrongdoing and damages. Just to list a few things that were done: He destroyed one of our appliances that we were very clear on our intention to keep, he painted our master bedroom that was renovated few months prior to construction and was instructed not to touch it, he removed one of the interior doors and placed it outside for days which caused it to rotten, he took 2 large pieces of our granite countertops without our permission and after we asked to keep them, he destroyed the new flooring by trying to clean them with a material that clearly states on the label that it is not recommended for this kind of flooring. On that last example on the flooring, he later confessed that it was his first time doing that type of flooring. That was very frustrating. He didn't finish the work that he was already payed for and just left the site. The best way to show his work is to see it. Images of his amateur work are attached. Update: I just read your response. Unsurprisingly, the way you handle this review as exactly the same way as you handle the low standard of your work, the damages and missing items throughout your project. He is just as Larry S commented; friendly, timely very hard working and actually gets back to you and wont schedule you until he knows he can get it done! Initial consultation was great as well as the installation. They were able to meet us at the pricing we needed for our budget and to be competitive against the other flooring shops. All the staff from first call to installation were friendly and wonderful to deal with. Install was very prompt within about a week and a half since some flooring had to be ordered from out of state.
