We got the 160z steak and the steak Oscar with a side order of the French onion mac. Was really expensive and the food was subpar. This was my first time here, and I absolutely enjoyed it! The atmosphere is so cute I feel like I'm in a little video game like Cooking Mama. The service was good! It is a touch screen to order which I'm normally not a fan of, but there's someone at the counter to help if you need. And the food was delicious! I think this place has a lot of potential- good menu, cool location, great staff... but they need help. Outside including patio needs updating, it was dirty, dated, and full of bugs. They were severely under staffed, waited 20 minutes for table past our reservation time, there was plenty of empty tables but no servers to man them. Waited 45 minutes for food, and it was cold. So, this was, uhm, a mixed bag to say the least. 2.5 stars is the most accurate rating, but I can't do that here. To say the least, the food was alright, the service was near dismal, and the general ambiance was good. I'll write the long version below if anyone even reads this. 1. The Food: The food I had would have been great--if it were hot. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I got the Blackened Tuna. The crab sauce was cold, and the tuna itself was lukewarm. The seasonings were good, and it didn't taste horrible, but the temperature was a big let-down. The sides that I got were the sweet potato fries and a side salad. The salad was good. I mean, it's pretty hard to screw that up. The sweet potato fries were amazing though. I liked the way that they made them, because they weren't overseasoned and they served them with honey. I had never had sweet potato fries with honey before, but I will definitely be serving them with honey in the future. I really liked that. Oh, I forgot to mention that my parents went here with me, so I will be factoring in their opinions as well. They said that both of their meals were just good. So, that was that. 2. The Service: The service was pretty bad. When we walked in, the bartender was a bit snippy when we asked about getting our seats for our 6:30 reservation. Our main server was nice for the most part, but when we asked about our food, he gave a pretty nasty response. We had to wait an hour and 45 minutes for our food by the way, so the response that he gave was not warranted. People who came in after us were getting their food before we did as well. So, this was definitely some of the worse service I've had. 3. The Ambiance and Parking: The ambiance was quite nice. I really liked the hunting/outdoors-y vibe of the place. The parking, however, was kind of rough. There weren't that many spaces to park, so I had to park alongside the road. So, it was just so-so. All the other reviews of the place seemed good. Absolutely astonishing that folks don't know about this extraordinary establishment!! Hands down the best fish dishes I've had in all of Pennsylvania. Hands Down!! The atmosphere is Lodge like, warm colors and wild game well placed up above. The staff are friendly and professional with Covid Care in every way. Ashley our server was attentive, thoroughly knowledgeable on all the appetizers and entrees. There's Prime Rib on Thursday & Saturday each week and marvelous & unique desserts to please all. Lovely salads and man sized servings of everything. The bar are has 3 tables Covid spaced and there's a dining room, with tables safely spaced. Can't wait for summer when the patio opens its doors. We'll be making this spot a regular visit and with many friends. We love sharing good things & this is a home run! read more

My son and two young grandsons and I went there for dinner. It was very busy but we got served right away. It is a bar restaurant so it it is noisy with the open seating. The waitress was great and she catered to my grandsons. My son got the garlic steak special and he said it was cooked like he asked and very tasty. The green beans were just ok. Great baked potato. My grandson got a burger and fries and he enjoyed them. I got the chicken parmigiana and thought about trying to trade with him. The good portion ( 2 large half breasts ) were moist and tender but kinda tasteless The sauce was so bland and tasteless. Prego would have been a 10 times better than their signature sauce. The breadsticks were doughy and not good at all. To be fair I have eaten there before and got good meals. I suggest don't get the chicken parmigiana. read more

Party of 5 for Mother's Day . Was busy even at 4:00 pm. Several specials as options For Mother's Day festivities. Four of our party had steak entrées that came with salads, garlic green beans, and a side choice. One person had the baked fish. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I personally would love to learn the secret to the amazing char on the flat iron . Service was great , many drinks refills and waitress was friendly even with many other tables to serve. We also ordered dessert peanut butter pie, chocolate cheesecake and ice cream. Presentation and taste were excellent. I've been here before but first time leaving a review. Then waited for 20 minutes for a drink to come. Then waited another 15 minutes for the waitress to come take your order. They were out of the special prime rib of the day, they forgot to bring me my soup and overall the service was unadequate to say the least. The redeeming note was the food was good. What happened to this place? It used to be excellent and worth the hour drive we have to get there. We brought some friends last week end, had a reservation for 4. We were seated immediately with no waiting time which was good. Then a long wait before our server came for our drinks order, another long wait before they got to the table. When our meal orders arrived. One of us ordered the chicken Caprese, it was so so, mediocre but edible, two of us ordered the Swordfish, one was ok but mine had a strange very hard area that couldn't even be cut with a knife, (badly cut piece, freezer burn? I could not tell) completely inedible. I returned it asking for a replacement. After a few minutes our waitress brought it back to me telling me that I would have to pay for another one, I do not know what was going on in the kitchen but she was so embarrassed. This was unacceptable so I reiterated that it was not edible and asked for a reduced price, she went back to the kitchen with the plate and came back later explaining that my meal would be charged as an employee meal at the employee rate of 30% off. I am still not sure if my meal was considered to be hers and it was possible that now she would not be able to have her own later. The explanation was so confusing. But what kind of establishment would do such a thing? Anyway the bill said "employee discount". I understand that sometimes things can go wrong but the way it was handled was horrible. We used to enjoy their food so much during the last years but now we will never go back there again. Again I am asking what happened to this place? Did it change hands, new management, new kitchen staff? A total disaster. read more

Every time we visit family, we have to go to the Forester. The location is not too far from where we stay (not saying anything in the Warren area is far away). We normally go around the 7pm-8pm time frame and it doesn't seem to be too busy. We ordered some of the bang bang shrimp and I had the cheeseburger. I've also had the fish fry and the chicken wings in the past. All of them were excellent. The sauce on the shrimp was perfect and had the right amount of sweet. The burger was cooked to perfection and the fries on the side were crispy. The staff has always been good to us with great service and quickness. Overall, this is always a great experience. Good restaurant tucked in the woods about ten minutes outside of Warren, PA. I wasn't sure what to expect when I stumbled into this place in a hangry fit. I heard no banjos strumming in the distance as I walked up to the door, so that was a plus. Inside it is very "lodgey" and the building has a lot of unique character to it. The mushrooms are a little bland and boring and have imitation crab. But they are good. Also they frequently have specials that are amazing. The fish fry is absolutely huge. Great atmosphere. Under cooked The staff was good but the cooks are horrible and should be forced to eat the dog food they cook. This place was awesome a few years ago but went way down hill since than. Six people dropping $150 should be at least satisfied. We ended up getting pizza to fill the void. Obviously from somewhere else. This was our first visit to the Forester and we were pleasantly surprised! We sat in the bar so we could watch some college football on the big TV. Cold beers to start, then the Bang Bang shrimp appetizer... pretty similar to what you get at the more famous seafood restaurant that made them popular. Pretty decent... Next were Italian Nachos- a nice combination of fried chips, Asiago cheese, chicken, all topped with a balsamic glaze. I was skeptical, but again surprised as the combination worked. Did I mention that the serving was huge? That was it for us on this visit, but we did see the burgers being served at the next table and the looked really good and were again, huge (1/2 lb)!
