Four stars means..."yes I'm a fan"...and still am. For years and years David has serviced and repaired both my 1993 Volvo 240 and my 1994 Volvo 940....both going strong one at 170,000 and the other at 251,000 miles. Thanks David. But recently I almost junked my 170,000 mile Volvo 240 because it kept STALLING AT IDLE.....like at a stop sign...or slowing down in front of my house. BUT THERE WAS NO "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT TO INDICATE WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG. David and I thought it was one or both of the 2FUEL PUMPS...so I paid around $600 to have them replaced. BUT THE SAME THING OCURRED....almost stalling in IDLE. The smog check was due thereafter...so I took the 240 to my local smog check...Moe's Smog on Lawrence Drive in Newbury Park. THE 240 FAILED THE SMOG CHECK...in the past it had measured VERY LOW. BUT ONE GOOD THING WAS THAT FINALLY THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" SHOWED UP. The code indicated the car needed the following "idle regulation" part which is AN IDLE COTROLL VALVE 0280140516 MADE BY BOSCH: https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-Original-Equipment-0280140516-Actuator/dp/B001CO2VAA/ref=au_as_r?_encoding=UTF8&Make=Volvo%7C27&Model=240%7C129&Year=1993%7C1993&ie=UTF8&n=15684181&s=automotive&vehicleId=3&vehicleType=automotive So the mechanic next door to Moe's Smog installed the above part...for $350 including the Bosch Idle Actuator part above....a bit expensive...but THAT IDLE ACTUATOR PART DID THE TRICK...NO MORE STALLING...AND THE 1993 VOLVO PASSED THE SMOG TESTS BY A LARGE MARGIN! So instead of calling "KARS FOR KIDS" TO HAVE THE CAR TAKEN AWAY....I'm back on the road with my beloved 1993 240!!! HAPPY ENDING...!!! The main reason I'm writing this "review" is to let David and anyone else with any car that is running well except at idle it stalls or nearly stalls....look for the "Idle Regulator Part" for your car....THIS PART APPARENTLY EXISTS IN MOST IF NOT ALL OF TODAYS CARS...but I never heard of it before. Now YOU and hopefully David will remember this part if you have a similar "stalling problem" in the future. read more
