I'm visiting in town and needed my nails done in a pinch. It's the day before 4th of July and these are one of the few nail places open today. The wait was long but I was ok with that considering I was a walk-in but this was in no way worth $35. He was rushing and got gel polish all over my fingers. don't get your toes done here. i got a regular pedicure and he trimmed and tried cutting the ingrown toenail on my big toe and it's now infected a week later. the experience was fine but i am not happy about an infected toe. read more

They are extremely unprofessional and completely destroyed my girlfriends nails, cuticles, and even cut under her nail with a file by "accident" they let acrylic glue get everywhere and didn't bother to clean it at all! read more

Excellent team, great service and a large well organized studio. By far the nicest best nail spa in Sumter.

We waited for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Had an ok pedicure. Then I had my nails totally prepped, shaped, ready for polish and the woman didn't listen to me and started hacking away at my nails as she looked all of the salon at everyone else... my nails were so uneven and crooked that I had to take the nail file and do it myself as she laughed at me and said something to her coworker in another language. After she was finished with the polish... it is all stuck to my skin and cuticles and the back of my nails are a mess! Sloppy, Rude and so substandard. I will never be back. read more

This is my favorite nail salon in Sumter... And I've been to them all! James and the crew are very friendly and professional. The salon is very clean and uses sanitary practices. The waits can be a little long at times but it's for good reason. They simply do A LOT of business. They do actively try to get customers in and out, while not compromising service. I've been to other salons and have seen similar waits with actual employees just sitting around. James is my preferred nail tech for more complex applications (new acrylics, shaping..etc.) as he is quite the perfectionist but I have had some others service my nails and have been quite pleased with them as well. Best advice go at opening, right before close or around 2pm on weekdays. read more

Was visiting from NY and didn't get nails done before I left. Did my research for few days and then decided to try Forbidden. First, the salon is a nice large open space, second, they have nice and pleasant staff that offered me a glass of wine or water...opted for the wine . Told them I needed someone that would listen and take their time b/c I'm particular. Well...James did my nails and did an excellent job. He looked at how they were done and I really didn't have to tell him much. I went back a few days later to get a pedicure and Lee did a great job. Will definitely go there whenever I'm in town. I'm newer to Sumter so I've been hesitant to try any nail salons in town. My experience with most salons is negative. However I decided to visit Forbidden Nails as a walk-in expecting a long wait time from what I read from other reviews. I waited about 30 minutes which was perfectly fine. I was then sat with Crystal who was very nice and listened to me complain about my last nail job She fixed me up! She did exactly what I asked for and told me repeatedly that if there was anything wrong to let her know and she's be happy to fix it. I left the salon SO happy with my new claws. If you get James or Katie I am sure you will be please but there is one man for sure that is working there and he is a nightmare and if he does your nails wrong he will not admit to it and overcharge you. Customers Should have a say so without being yelled at or disrespected if they don't like something they should be able to sat it and get it corrected before they pay without having to sit there and argue with the nail tech. I can guarantee you if you do argue with him, he will overcharge you thinking that you will not tip! I am sick of not being able to speak my mind if I don't like her my nails are done because the nail tech doesn't want to have to redo them or correct it even have to pay if they don't give you what you want! Me and my friend visited this nail salon, it was decently busy, and we did not have an appointment. I waited about 10 minutes which was not long in my opinion. My nail tech was very nice,respectful, and polite. I loved how all the tools were in sterilized bags like in a dentist office. HOWEVER, my nail tech seemed to have troubles with his cuticle cutters, during my manicure and pedicure. Needless to say, I have a cut on multiple fingers and toes. I tried not to dictate my visit on this factor. However, I was upset when my nail tech decided to cut my ingrown toenail out while I was chatting with my friend. Yes, I've had this done before, but the techs usually ask first. The last time I had gotten my ingrown removed it was a bad experience, so I have been taking care of them at home myself (as directed by my doctor). By the time I got back home that evening, my big toe was swollen and very very red from the removal. I put peroxide and it immediately started bubbling white. So I was upset. Also, they did not offer us any beverages. The whole staff was friendly and polite. The prices were decent, I got a regular polish mani/pedi for $42, if you add gel it's $20-$40 more depending if you get it on your toes and nails. I over all enjoyed the experience, but I probably won't be returning due to the infection or my toe. read more
