Our first time here and we were pleasantly surprised walking in. The salon is lovely, we'll-decorated and we were promptly greeted. We checked in for our appointments and even though they were at 12 & 12:45 they got us both started ASAP. My technician, the niece of the owners was amazing, gentle and did a great job. The only reason I give 4 stars is that my daughter showed her technician a picture of coffin shaped nails and came out with them super squared and she has abrasions on several fingers. When i asked her about that she said the technician was very rough and hurt her. I asked her if she spoke up and she said she was scared to. That's some of her being 15 I'm sure (& I was at another table) but it's also important for the artist to recognize if a client may be younger or shy and make sure they're getting a quality experience and what they want / have asked for. These are her nails for her 16th birthday present. The owner was SUPER sweet & when she found out it was our birthdays gave us each a sweet little gift! I have been having my nails done here for years and I love their gel manicure and pedicure! All of the ladies are nice and do a great job!

I tried to solve this with the owner by sending three separate emails, all of which remained unanswered. About a week ago my mother in law and I went in to get the deluxe pedicure. I will say the spa has a nice atmosphere to it but that is about all the good I can say about this place. Their deluxe manicure is 50 dollars and please take my advice and don't waste your money. The deluxe comes with a box of product with the scent you choose and it has like the soaking salts, exfoliation and lotion. They literally massaged us for 5 minutes and then instead of using the packet of lotion they just handed it to us and was like here you can use this later. For 50 dollars you can't even apply the lotion that comes in the product box you're advertising for a supposedly deluxe pedicure? I wish this was all the worst part but it was not.... Shortly after leaving my toe began to hurt really bad, I could tell it might be getting infected but tried to clean it and apply some neosporin. By day three I could barely walk on it and had to go to urgent care, turns out the lady cut my cuticle so poorly that it caused an infection. I am now on ten days of antibiotics and the pain is getting better but my toe is still really tender to touch. Go here at your own risk but I promise you'll walk away disappointed and maybe even with more than you bargained for (an infection). Everyone at Chic is so friendly and professional. You will feel the Southern Hospitality when you walk into the salon. It seems like the majority if their clients are regulars and they are there to relax with their friends, getting pampered and sipping wine. Yes WINE! And it's complimentary . Chic is the only nail salon in Sumter that is no longer offering Acrylic so everything is more natural. You don't smell the strong Acrylic liquid smell when you walk in there at all. The environment is relaxing and the decor is definitely Chic! They use pedicure liner, new buffer and nail file for each client. All metal implements are sterilized and sealed. Each nail technician wears a mask and sanitizes their hands before touching you. They also do offer 20% off for referral and customer loyalty points for more discount. Walk-ins are welcome but appointment is highly recommended since they do get pretty busy. You can just call ahead before you head there just in case they are already booked. 9 out of 10 they can fit you in quickly. read more

Cute little shop, didn't make an appointment but was able to walk in and be seated for a pedicure right away (2pm on a Friday). They use plastic liners for the pedicure basin (brand new for each customer, I watched her put mine in place) and freshly sterilized equipment in single-use packaging. Roberta was really lovely, gave me a good description of the differences between pedicure services and asked a few questions and offered me a drink before getting started. She gave me an awesome leg/foot massage with the Signature pedicure, probably at least 10 minutes per leg. She also made a point to paint one toenail and verify that it dried to a color a liked before continuing, in case I wanted to change my mind. 10/10, highly recommend and I will be returning. read more

I just adore Darlene she was the previous owner. The new owners jack the prices up so much at least $20.00 or more! So as much as I adore Darlene and Roberta. I don't think I'll be able to afford to go back. $70.00 for a plain old manicure and one step up for a pedicure. I think thats real pricey.... Just remember Darlene and Roberta are the best. I have never been to Chic nails. I've tried! But whenever I've called, they tell me they are booked solid for (at least) 2 days. Always very short and never offers a suggested time. I've had friends go right in after I've called and they were able to walk in. I guess I'm not part of the cool kids. There are two ladies here that are AMAZING. One of them I can't remember the name of but the other is Leigh. I went to her several times and she was amazing and super attentive to detail. The place itself seems well kept, clean, and is beautiful. But the people working reception do need some improvement. I made an appointment specifically with Leigh for acrylic fills, ended up going to my appointment, and waited an hour in the waiting room just to get sat with a random nail lady. I came in without an appointment on a Saturday morning and asked the front receptionist if they had a opening. She asked other employees and told me it would be 15 minutes. I agreed and asked who would be doing my pedicure, she then told me Kim. I patiently had a seat and waited. Fifteen minutes later, she said everything was ready and that's when the worst pedicure of my life began When I was seated, I realized the receptionist was going to do my nails and not Kim. I asked her to cut my nails short and I quickly found out that she had either had no previous experience or very little. She started doing them, and the whole time, I felt like I was a test dummy for a young girl who had no idea how to properly give a good pedicure. Not only was she constantly wiping her nose and then touching me, but she was also busy looking out the window. She obviously was not concerned about the quality of her work or her customer. Then came the leg massage... Or lack there of. It was nonexistent. Saying I am disappointed or displeased would be an absolute understatement. She also did not cut my cuticles and pretended to know how. When I asked if that was part of the pedicure, she respond with "That's part of a pedicure isn't it?" I felt awful not tipping her but a tip is part customer service and the quality of the task you are being asked to complete. Her name was Ze and I would not recommend her to anyone. I would suggest she be retrained and re licensed as manicurist in the State of South Carolina. Overall, the entire experience was completely unprofessional and I will never go back. I highly, highly recommend no one go to get their nails done and to drive to Columbia to get a proper pedicure. Went here to get my eyebrows waxed. That didn't happen... She just plucked them... and missed a few spots.. I could've done them myself.. Had I known that they don't actually wax I never would've come here to have that done.... With that being said though, I've had my nails done here and they did an amazing job! My manicurist, Darlene was SO funny and sweet. We chatted the whole time and she taught me a lot about nail health and different practices and how they effect your nails. I live in NY and get them done in the city a lot and know a lot about nail health and she still taught me a lot! It did take a little while (about 1 hr 45 min), but she just wanted to be thorough and I appreciated that. She made sure to ask if I was in a hurry to respect my time. Also to note, I had to get polish taken off, tips put on and shaped, and powder/gel done and I kept being picky about the length because I like them short! So the time it took to do it was realistically only about 15 min longer than it would take me in the city. Not bad! Just take time to pamper yourself and enjoy good company and come to Chic Nails and Spa! I will for sure be back! This place is ridiculous. I went to get a gift certificate for someone else and specifically told them she wanted to get acrylic nails. The woman sold me the gift certificate. My wife went to go redeem the gift certificate to get acrylic nails and was informed that they stopped doing acrylic nails two weeks ago. The woman would not refund the gift certificate either. I had a 4 o'clock appointment, I chose the chic package mani (gel fill) and pedi. For $54. I loved my nail lady she was super nice and talkative and made the appointment fun. But as soon as she finished my toes a new I received another lady who did my nails (since the other women had another appointment) it took an hour to do my nails and in that hour all she did was strip my gel nails to the bare and brittle natural long nails I have and told me since they are closing and she has another appointment to do so I would have to come back tomorrow to finish them and pay another nail session. Then I went to pay and my bill came out to $70... it went from $54 to $70 when I didn't even receive the manicure package. I had to go to my old and faithful nail salon to fix their awful mistake. I'm not going to knock the entire salon but Anne gave me the worst pedicure I've ever had. First I had to get my old gel removed which was fine but there was no water and I had to ask for there to be water in the pedicure tub. She then proceeded to do a mediocre job of scrubbing my foot, in which my 6 year old daughter could have done the same job as her. After that, she put lotion on my legs and started to rub it in which felt like I could have done a better job after getting out of the shower. Instead of using a dry towel to rub in the rest of the lotion, she used water and didn't dry it off when she was done. Once that was done it was time for the hot towel. Every other salon I've been to used one towel for each leg but here I had a cold towel draped over both legs. So at that point I wasn't about to sit through getting $25 gel polish put on my toes from this woman. I still paid the $32 for the classic pedicure and left. I will never go to this salon again because of my experience, but I'm sure the other nail techs are competent and will give a better experience. read more

Made an appointment for my 2 nieces to get there nails done and when arriving the front desk lady was "confused" about our appointment. Finally when I got them settled in the "owners" car was parked too close to mine in the parking lot. I could not even get in between to get out. I asked one of the lady's if she knew who it could be so I could get out and leave and her response was "it was the owners and for me to climb across my passenger side to the driver side", because she wasn't disturbing her! When I came and picked them up one of my nieces whole left hand was smudged and the lady got an attitude about fixing it! I will never be back to this place. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I've had three bad experiences in a row, will not be going back. They don't stick to appointments and they write appointments down wrong in the book so they're not properly staffed. A few weeks ago I made an appointment for my mother and I, they didn't staff properly and wanted us to go back to back instead of together for fills, last time I went I waited over an hour past my appointment time before I was spoken to about being seen and decided to leave, today was my last time giving them a chance and things were okay at best. My tech kept having to get up and leave me, for various reasons, I wasn't seen until about 15 after my scheduled time, and even though I brought my own gel polish, I was charged $20 for her to put it on. I wasn't charged the extra last time, and for them to try to validate charging $20 to use their UV lamps is beyond me. read more

Took my granddaughter here to get a mani/pedi for her birthday. We walked in just before 4pm. We stood at the podium for over 5 minutes & were not greeted. I wasn't sure if they were able to take walk in's and I kept waiting for someone to address me so I could find out. Finally, I saw there was a sign-in sheet there, but still wasn't sure if it was for walk-in's or appointments. I finally just put our names on it and took a seat in the waiting area. After another 10 minutes or so a woman finally approached and asked what we needed & if we had an appointment. I explained that we were walk-ins and would both like mani/pedi's. She said ok, but that it would be about a 20 minute wait. I agreed. It took 45 minutes before we were finally seated in a pedicure chair. They did a great job with my 7 year old granddaughter. She was really tickled. They brought her a Capri Sun & me a glass of wine. The salon looked clean and I witnessed them practicing good hygiene, cleaning out the tubs in the pedi chairs after customers & they use the liners. The decor is pleasant....not too overly cluttered like some salons I've seen. I probably would have only given them 3 stars because of the wait & not being acknowledged or greeted when I came in, but I got to chatting with my pedicurist & she was such a sweet girl. We had some interests in common and we had a great time chatting. And of course she gave me a great pedicure. It would have been nice to get the manicure done at the same time to save time, but they didn't have enough staff. We wound up being there for over 3 hours. That was the only draw back. I understand that they are very busy and we were walk-ins. I'd highly suggest making an appointment. At the end of the day though, they have a clean establishment and use good hygiene and they did a great job on our nails. read more
