I will start by saying the food was amazing and very fresh. The goat in the garden salad is very refreshing and I suggest getting the green goddess dressing. The service is SLOW. If you are looking for a quick place to grab a bite this is not it. It took well over 30 minutes after we ordered to receive our food. If you sit outside the view by the creek is lovely. Stopped in Dillsboro at a cute place along the old railroad tracks. I ordered the "Back Porch" burger. Oh my goodness, was it absolutely delicious!! The burger was cooked to perfection, a fried green tomato, candied bacon and a nice heap of pimento cheese. I was supposed to share with my husband, but I only gave him 2 bites. Our server, Caroline was very sweet and had so much southern charm. Whenever we are passing through this area again we will for sure make the stop. read more

The fried deviled eggs were to die for. I had the BLT tacos and they were phenomenal. The tater tots were sweet and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar (sooo tasty!). They use sweet tea chicken in the tacos and it was so tender and moist. We also got an order of the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and I could've eaten them all. So good!! My daughter had the pasta which was really good and exceptional for the kids menu. I tried some of the apple butter sandwich someone else in my party got (I was too nervous to get it myself) and it was 10/10. The service was excellent. A group of us met tonight for dinner at Foragers Canteen. Several of us have eaten there before and it was an easy choice! One had the Kitchen Sink Burger (huge!), three of us had Depot Burgers, and the others tried other dishes. The food was absolutely delicious - the Depot Burger is, in my opinion, the best burger in western NC! Not only is the food great at Foragers, the atmosphere and service sets the standard! We somewhat stumbled into Foragers Canteen when the place we planned to go to lunch at turned up to be closed but that turned out to be great news for us. We were able to get a table and our waitress came and got us drinks. The menu had a lot to offer so I wasn't sure what to go with but once I fully read over the Foragers Shrimp & Grits I new that's what I had to go with. I comes with Blackened Shrimp, Chicken Apple Sausage, a Low Country Cream Sauce over Smoked Gouda Grits, Amazing! Our food came out within about 10-15 minutes and wow the Shrimp and Grits looked amazing. Lots of large blackened shrimp and all covered in a cream sauce. My first bite was great. The cream sauce rich and the shrimp perfectly cooked with just a bit and spice from the blackening, and sweetness from the chicken apple sausage to pull it all together. Easily the best Shrimp & Grits in Dillsboro/Sylva and probably in my top 5 of all time. Trust me that's saying a lot because Shrimp & Grits is my go to and I almost get it whenever I seen it on the menu. We will for sure be coming back. read more

Can't believe I have been passing this up all these years. I got the catch of the day. It happened to be blue berry trout. Perfectly pan sautéed with panko and parmesan cheese and drizzled with blueberry compote. You choose 2 sides and let met tell you that was a hard choice. I got brussel sprouts, and I wanted to lick the bowl. It was a delightful meal. Hubby got a hamburger cooked perfectly. We think the cut used was more lean than the ground chuck we use at home. He said it was dressed just right, but he missed some flavor. Cute bar, a bit rustic, just right for travelers, locals and college kids. I have been eating at foragers for 3 years. We always bring our family and friends here when in town. The food was good shrimp and grits,steak tips alfredo and chicken. Maple Brussel sprouts. Gnocchi with chicken tasty. The only reason I have to give a 3 is we had the worst service from Chandler. When she took our drink order never said can I get you an appetizer. Turned and left had to call her back to order cluckers. She didn't refill drinks when asked had an attitude like a teenager. Then filled some drinks left had to ask for unsweetened tea which had already been waiting awhile for two of us. Her response was give me a minute. The waitress next to us was so good polite. Other waitress told people I'll get your dog some water when I come back. Our waitress never asked if she could get water for our dog. I have to say in 3 years service has always been great. This is the only time I have had to write a negative review for foragers I still said please and Thank you but this was poor service. I will still eat at foragers but would not have Chandler as a waitress. read more

One of the best eateries in the area. The staff is always amazing! Hands down my absolute favorite place for a burger. I honestly can't think of a single item on the menu that I have had and not thoroughly enjoyed. Every server there is extremely courteous and thoughtful. My husband can come up with some odd requests sometimes. Never one time have not done their best to accommodate us. They always make every visit feel like lunch with friends or dinner with family. We enjoyed dinner plates of filet with the Brussels & Gouda grits. Also had a kitchen sink burger with sweet potato tots. Huge burger with double meat, all toppings including fried egg. All food was prime, excellent quality and expertly prepared and served Also serve an awesome breakfast. The Foragers omelet was great, made with at least 3-4 eggs. Home fries fresh & crispy. The only chance I got to eat here was when we came up for a food tasting for our wedding. The service from the manager AND chef who came out to greet us was amazing. The food was also some of the best food I've had in WNC. We immediately booked them to cater our wedding. Of the 80+ guests we had all we heard was great things about their dinners!
