a glass of beer on a table

I love this venue as it is outdoor, spacious, just beautiful with the lights! Hofkuche was a pop up and we enjoyed the drinks and food. Now it is gone but Forage Kitchen is now serving beers on First Friday and I am happy one of my fave local bands is still playing here! Hope they sell some nibbles to go with the beer!

We came the opening day of Hofkuche pop up at Forage Kitchen. There are a lot of outdoor tables, all spaced out nicely. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated. We got a text when the table was ready. We both got beverages and shared a hot pretzel. FYI Obatza was more like a cream cheese. We love coming to Forage's pop ups, but this one was such a fun experience. People were dressed up and there was a two person band playing folk music. It felt like I wasn't even in a city. It almost felt, if I dare say, ~normal~.

Feastly Pop-up with Chef Tu David, serving authentic Vietnamese Pho noodle soup. Was hella good!! I'll be sure to check their website for more of his offerings. The soups were filling and flavorful. I'll be sure to keep my eyes open to see who else showcases their talent at the kitchen!

Forage Kitchen has hatched its beautiful commercial kitchen on 25th St in Oakland for professional chefs, food product businesses and amateur chefs needing a kitchen to make big batches of food or see what it's like to work in a commercial kitchen. The staff are really cool and working on the best models for equipment and schedule. In a couple of years they surely will have hatched a bunch of new food businesses and food careers.

Super excited about this place! very pleasant to be there, nice energy, simple / great food! I've been there a few times already at different occasions: for a lunch on a saturday and for some of their pop-up events. I've always been a fan of Jeff's sandwiches and the lao sausage sandwich is my ultimate favorite -- great texture, the sausage is legit and that asian slaw gives a great balance! The vegetarian sandwich also is amazing (and I don't usually like vegetarian sandwiches). Prices are completely reasonable and you can even make it a salad if you're not into carbs. Something that i was SUPER excited to see on their menu is the rotisserie chicken! i've had half a chicken with the couscous and little gem. It's juicy, moist, the umami rub is delish and it's NOT overcooked like most chicken i've had. Reminds me of the "poulet fume" we have in France. I even took the leftovers home and reheated later and it still tastes good. I strongly recommend it to all the chicken lovers. it's legit.

one-night-a-year dinner event. don't wrrr abt getting the (free) advance ticket online bc once you're at the venue 1) no one gets checked against a ticket vs non-ticket list and 2) everyone can order from the event & non-event menus anyway. don't b skrrrd by the mild germany / europe theme; there's hegga southern / cajun / american food. which is what i was here for lol. foh / boh logistics snafu = i never got 1 of the 3 dishes i paid for, but what i did get was rather tasty. when i return i'll tell the cashier i'm "rick james beeiiiij" or sth so my food isn't lost in a sea of ppl copycatting my name.

Absolutely delicious!! A must try if you are in the neighborhood. I would highly suggest Mac n' cheese, tri-tips, baked beans & collard greens. You will not be disappointed. :)

Had the fried cod sandwich and Caesar salad. Half a beer because....lunch. Sat in the sun under a tree. People watched. Admired growing Japanese eggplant. Listened to music. Headed home and took a nap. Thanks Forage and Pal's for a perfect afternoon.

The roast beef sandwich was yummy

The interior makes one feel that you are in a high end cafe with its beautiful decor. Some many items to choose from, the person taking my order was very helpful in explaining the different kinds of drinks and pastries. Ordered the Ginger Honey Jobani as a hot drink, Biscoff Milkcake, Honeycomb, and a Beef Fatayer. There were several kinds of milkcakes which would have the texture like a tres leches cake. The Honeycomb had pockets of cream cheese and was drizzles with honey. The Meat Fatayer is like an empanada. The food and drink were very tasty. Highly recommend to stop by Sanaa Cafe and experience it. Their website shows more cafe openings in the future!

After reading a few other reviews about this place I know it's not just me. While I like some of…read moretheir products, the customer service is definitely off especially from the standpoint of exhibiting micro aggressions. For example, in many of my times going there, I've noticed that upon approaching the counter the staff typically have ignored me and continue on talking to each other as well as even giving me glances yet not doing anything. After waiting for some time they then approach. With that, there's one particular man there who purposely would place my purchased item on the counter despite the fact that my hand was clearly reached out to retrieve it from him. He also gives me an awkward look whenever he does this. It's interesting to me as these same ones have the aesthetic of being "open minded/cultured" and "liberal" yet on the inside they're nothing more than covert bigots (likely transplants from some bumpkin states and towns). My thing is if you don't like dealing with certain demographics of people then Oakland is clearly not for you. Try Dixon or Yuba City or some place like that where you can embrace that special brand of hatred. Wearing doc martens, tattoos, hipster haircuts, and piercings instead of a pillow case on one's head doesn't hide their bigotry. The costume isn't fooling anyone. It doesn't fit here in Oakland. Definitely not giving my dollar nor support to this business anymore.

We went mainly for drinks and tried a latte, tiramisu latte, and a Spanish latte. The tiramisu latte and Spanish latte were both really good and definitely my favorites. Smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet. You can tell the coffee quality is solid. We also tried the matcha drinks in vanilla and strawberry. I liked the strawberry matcha more. It comes unsweetened, so I asked for it to be sweetened and it was great after that. The vanilla matcha was fine too, just not my top pick. They're also dropping a new Ramadan drink soon, a date latte, which sounds really good and I'll probably come back just to try that. Overall, great drinks and a nice place to hang out.

I loved the ambiance, it felt we was in another country. The place was packed I have no idea where everyone parked haha. Very hard to find parking. The Adeni Chai I had was wonderful and I would get again. The lemon pastries I had were good & I would possibly get again. Both cheese pastries & meat pocket I didnt care for so much. I undetstand they are an acquired taste but me being Middle Eastern we have our own versions and I think that's why I didn't like as much. I would definitely go back and try more sweet pastries. They had a large selection I couldn't try them all haha. I would love to try more tea and coffee options as well. Go and try out several different pastries and discover what you like. It's cheaper than buying an airplane ticket to try another countries culture and delights. They also have outside seating which is especially nice on a beautiful day. Pro tip: take an Uber if you can. Parking is hard to get.

It's light and spacious with a minimalist Zen vibe. I immediately recognized this was a true tea place, not just a boba shop. It's clearly for people who appreciate high quality tea. He asked me a few questions and suggested the hojicha boba, and my tea was ready even before I found a place to sit! It was fantastic! The hojicha flavor was subtle but bright. The boba was fresh, mild in flavor, and had the perfect chew with the right amount of softness. There's also a nicely curated assortment of teas, tea accessories, and books about tea to choose from. For example today, I walked in and stood in front of the ordering area only to receive no acknowledgement from seemingly 3-4 staff members who didn't seem like they were actively helping anyone. The cafe wasn't empty but it wasn't that busy either to me. It just felt like the staff were having fun by themselves or maybe they were with their friends. Which is fine by me, but after they help customers. Oh, also I asked for one of drinks for dining in and my other drink hot. I received them in a to-go cup and iced. Still both flavorful, but just shows that the staff's attention may appear to be elsewhere.
