When the For Eyes next to the Regal Cinema closed, I was devastated. I had been going there for years. However, I was told, they would be re-opening in a new location soon. Well, yes, they have! And it's down the street, even closer to the metro, 7101 Wisconsin, cross street Leland Avenue. And the staff are unbelievably helpful! I feel they are better than before. My previous experiences with Tyler I. at the old store were good, and now he's back in the new store and as helpful and professional as ever. David M. is absolutely genius at fixing problems using physics, and a really fun guy. Everyone is patient and courteous (I want to say 'courtly' but that's anachronistic). The location is all windows and parking is easy. Really, the best place to go for spectacles! Here's a suggestion from them, too: join AARP ($15) and save well over a hundred dollars on your glasses. read more

My faithful glasses of two years were falling apart. A friend of mine told me about For Eyes. He said that he had bought his glasses from them. He said that the prices are good and people are really nice. So, I thought, "why not". When I walked into For Eyes, I noticed that they had a much bigger selection than the previous place I bought my glasses. I was a little overwhelmed by their selection. Luckily for me, I was greeted by one of their staff members. She was really nice and seemed to be real knowledgeable. She spent a lot of time with me. I finally settled for a very stylish gray metal frame. I told her that I would be back when I get paid. She wrote down all the information for me. A friend of mine recommended "For Eyes Optical". She had received impeccable service and was very happy with the product. I must say that I was not disappointed. Customer service was way beyond my expectations, and I especially want to thank Tim who made everything go as smoothly as possible. He was very helpful to help me choose a pair of glasses and went the extra mile to answer my questions. The store hours are also extremely convenient with them being opened on Sunday. That is definitely a very positive thing for me as I have little free time during the week. For Eyes have now moved, still on Wisconsin Ave but towards DC, now at 7101. I was in town and saw the balloons outside the building. Turns out it was their grand opening. The frame of my Nike glasses which I bought from then about 10 months ago was deteriorating. I thought I would take the chance to see if they could be fixed. David Markowitz warmly greeted me, looked at the glasses, looked up the date I bought them and said they were not covered by a warranty. Then he kept typing on the computer and said he was ordering another replacement frames as these were defective -- and replacement for free. Then because of the opening they gave me a pair of sunglasses (uncorrected) and offered me to stay for lunch. That is service! Thanks guys. read more

I have been going there for over a year now, and they always give me wow service. The last time I purchased glasses, I tried on several pairs and it was difficult to choose. Rehana came to my rescue and helped me find the best frames I could ever ask for. She was patient and very kind, and delivered great customer service. I was so happy when For Eyes/Lerner Vision Care re-opened in their new location just in time for my routine vision check-up. Dr. Lerner is so professional and cheerful, not to mention an excellent practitioner who I trust completely for my vision care. I worked with David to select new glasses. I am particularly thrilled with the services that David provided because I got exactly what I wanted and saved several hundred dollars based on his recommendations. He took the time to work with me and understand exactly what I wanted (and I took a long time!). I would describe myself as a very easy going guy, but I also know what I want and am very firm on customer service. If I pay for a service and a product, I expect to be treated with respect and interact with a staff that value my business. I have found exactly that there. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff is very polite, especially Tim and Alfredo. First off I DISAGREE with everyone who says this place sucks. I've been going to this optical store for many years now and have always been greeted kindly and helped right away. Customer service is great. The employees always wanna help and make sure you're happy with what they give you. When I first came to that store I had no idea where my eye appointment was, I was taken upstairs personally by one of the techs. It was great to know they would do that because most places just point to where you should go which isn't welcoming. Overall I would recommend this store to a friend or family member. read more

Foreyes is excellent and inexpensive. Don't be put off by "get what you pay for" reluctance, or their move to a harder to find (but convenient) Bethesda location, or their small ad budget. My experience is that I brought two pairs of glasses from Foreyes not quite two years ago on a 2 for $59 special. They have been great, but as of last week both are lost to an unknown location. I returned today to get replacements, and was able to order the same glasses again on the same 2 for $59 special. Thank you Foreyes. Great customer service. I brought in a frame that I purchased overseas and Tim was happy to adjust them for me. I previously tried My EyeDoctor but they refused to touch it because I did not buy it from them. I have never been to For Eyes before, but I will definitely be buying my next pair of glasses from them. Tim also gave me some coupons to bring back when I return and walked me to the door. There was no pressure to BUY NOW and I felt very comfortable. Where else can you get free service on a product you bought somewhere else? This place is great! read more

As a long-time patient of Dr. Lerner and For Eyes in Bethesda, I was happy to visit their new location on the corner of Wisconsin and Leland just down the street from the old place. I initially visited For Eyes because my insurance covers the exam by Lerner Vision, located in the same business. My two boys and I have always found frames we like among the good selection. Very affordable pricing, a helpful staff, and reasonable turn-around time. Ample parking is available in a nearby lot. I find this location much more accessible than the previous Bethesda location. My sister bought eyeglasses from For Eyes last fall. She had to go through chemotherapy in Portland. She wasn't able to travel until recently. She went back to For Eyes because she was unhappy with her glasses. The manager, Tim, took both pairs back and ordered her new glasses at no charge and without any fuss. Convenient location. It's right on wisconsin avenue and offers parking!!!!!! A great plus in BETHESDA where parking seems to be disapearing lately. They do have a lot of frames. All of their lens prices are right on display which I liked a alot. I hate going somewhere and getting sticker shock. I have been going to For Eyes for 20 years. Dr. weird was great and his replacement, Dr. Lerner is very good, too. I always get nice glasses that work and I never pay a lot. The staff is very professional and friendly. I spoke to the District Manager, Hank Moore when he was in the store, and he gave me a free pair of glasses for being such a good customer. I would be more than happy to return the glasses but the hassle free return end after 30 days and the bill came in today. I checked my insurance website and they were told back in November that they wouldn't cover the whole thing. So they could have told me back then instead of waiting till after the return period. Don't pay until after you get confirmation from your insurance company. Call them yourself. Don't let MyEyeDr tell you it's covered.

First off: I love they have more space but now having gone twice i've noticed they seem 1-2 people short of being fully staffed. The glasses tech that was helping me was simultaneously helping another person and a couple other people seemed to be doing 2 or 3 different things at the same time. This can lead to some longer waits, but not too bad. Second: They had me in the system as showing up for new contacts, even though i'd ticked the "I wear glasses and contacts" button online. This one was solely for a new, maybe back-up pair of glasses. My dr. (Judith) seemed a bit confused that I didn't want that, since I really only wear contacts when at the beach, and had to change that on my chart. She also was very perturbed that, since my last visit, I hadn't followed up with a recommended glaucoma doc because of my "large optic nerves" and family history (a grandparent). She kind of scolded me for it, and to be frank, that seemed a bit unnecessary. Why? well, life got busy last year after my last visit in various ways. And, i'd been told there could be quite the wait with that doc. Also, every other eye doc i've seen has said to just "monitor it" however possible. Lastly, I think it's pretty normal to forget to follow up with a recommended specialist, especially when my vision is fine.

I thought this location was pretty clean and well-maintained. Also, the staff was very nice. Unfortunately, this location does not have it's own parking, so definitely check out the prices of the public parking garages. There is street parking but from what I remember the max time is one hour...at least for the street parking directly across the street from the office complex. I'm currently in the market for a new eye specialists since I recently moved to the area. However, I think that I might give them a shot as my primary eye care specialist at least for my next annual eye exam.
