When the For Eyes next to the Regal Cinema closed, I was devastated. I had been going there for years. However, I was told, they would be re-opening in a new location soon. Well, yes, they have! And it's down the street, even closer to the metro, 7101 Wisconsin, cross street Leland Avenue. And the staff are unbelievably helpful! I feel they are better than before. My previous experiences with Tyler I. at the old store were good, and now he's back in the new store and as helpful and professional as ever. David M. is absolutely genius at fixing problems using physics, and a really fun guy. Everyone is patient and courteous (I want to say 'courtly' but that's anachronistic). The location is all windows and parking is easy. Really, the best place to go for spectacles! Here's a suggestion from them, too: join AARP ($15) and save well over a hundred dollars on your glasses. read more

My faithful glasses of two years were falling apart. A friend of mine told me about For Eyes. He said that he had bought his glasses from them. He said that the prices are good and people are really nice. So, I thought, "why not". When I walked into For Eyes, I noticed that they had a much bigger selection than the previous place I bought my glasses. I was a little overwhelmed by their selection. Luckily for me, I was greeted by one of their staff members. She was really nice and seemed to be real knowledgeable. She spent a lot of time with me. I finally settled for a very stylish gray metal frame. I told her that I would be back when I get paid. She wrote down all the information for me. Overall, For Eyes has a really great customer service and a great selection of frames. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family. read more

A friend of mine recommended "For Eyes Optical". She had received impeccable service and was very happy with the product. I must say that I was not disappointed. Customer service was way beyond my expectations, and I especially want to thank Tim who made everything go as smoothly as possible. He was very helpful to help me choose a pair of glasses and went the extra mile to answer my questions. The store hours are also extremely convenient with them being opened on Sunday. That is definitely a very positive thing for me as I have little free time during the week. Frames selection is offering a wide choice of modern looks and I had no trouble finding something very nice and suitable. I will definitely recommend this store to my friends. For Eyes have now moved, still on Wisconsin Ave but towards DC, now at 7101. I was in town and saw the balloons outside the building. Turns out it was their grand opening. The frame of my Nike glasses which I bought from then about 10 months ago was deteriorating. I thought I would take the chance to see if they could be fixed. David Markowitz warmly greeted me, looked at the glasses, looked up the date I bought them and said they were not covered by a warranty. Then he kept typing on the computer and said he was ordering another replacement frames as these were defective -- and replacement for free. Then because of the opening they gave me a pair of sunglasses (uncorrected) and offered me to stay for lunch. That is service! Thanks guys. read more

Rehana came to my rescue and helped me find the best frames I could ever ask for. She was patient and very kind, and delivered great customer service. The store is very welcoming and everyone is quick on their feet to wait on customers. I was so happy when For Eyes/Lerner Vision Care re-opened in their new location just in time for my routine vision check-up. Dr. Lerner is so professional and cheerful, not to mention an excellent practitioner who I trust completely for my vision care. I worked with David to select new glasses. I am particularly thrilled with the services that David provided because I got exactly what I wanted and saved several hundred dollars based on his recommendations. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff is very polite, especially Tim and Alfredo. First off I DISAGREE with everyone who says this place sucks. I've been going to this optical store for many years now and have always been greeted kindly and helped right away. Customer service is great. The employees always wanna help and make sure you're happy with what they give you. When I first came to that store I had no idea where my eye appointment was, I was taken upstairs personally by one of the techs. Foreyes is excellent and inexpensive. Don't be put off by "get what you pay for" reluctance, or their move to a harder to find (but convenient) Bethesda location, or their small ad budget. It's the optician he uses for his own eyeglass needs, also mentioning that Apex's lenses were used as the benchmark for accuracy and quality during a recent comparison done by one of the local television stations. Now that I've gotten both prescription readers and sunglasses from them, I totally understand why. I was fortunate enough to work with Ricky, one of Apex's certified opticians. He listened very carefully to what I was looking for in new frames, then picked out a number of frames that would fit the style that I wanted and would work well with the shape of my face, settling in on frames that are feather-light and look great, garnering a good number of compliments. He also helped me pick out a very nice pair of sunglasses that have been perfect on sunny summer days. More importantly, Ricky paid particular attention to my prescription, testing out the magnification to make sure that the strength of the glasses would be correct prior to having the lenses made. It turned out that my new prescription was a bit too strong, so Ricky got in touch with my ophthalmologist, adjusted the prescription, and the magnification of my new lenses ended up being picture-perfect. He also took special care to make sure that the glasses fit properly, adjusting the temples so that they rested properly on my ears. I opted for the Crizal lenses, which are absolutely amazing - they're crystal-clear and much better than anything I've ever used before. Yes, they cost a bit more, but the quality is well worth it. Ricky is quite personable and his attention to detail is exemplary, making the entire process of buying new eyeglasses a pleasure from start to finish. Brought my own frames to get lenses replaced. Had no problem with the prices and ordered the lenses. After spending ~$1200 they (manager?) seemed insulted that I asked for a receipt. He said "we've been here for 40 years!" Seriously? So what? After I insisted he begrudgingly printed one for me. When I picked them up they had not applied the edge-polish I had ordered and paid for. The salesperson took them in back and applied a slight buff, not a polish. I asked her to apply a polish and she went back and did it correctly. The thing is my lenses had an AR coating. Applying a polish to an AR lens can damage the coating - it's supposed to be done before the AR is applied - maybe that was the lab's fault. Nevertheless, I spoke with the salesperson about a different pair of lenses I was interested in, one for strictly reading/computer distance. I told her my working distances and knew just what it was I interested in. She proceeded to insist that that was not what I wanted, finally raising her voice and saying "fine, whatever you want!" Lots of glowing reviews on this site and that's fine for them - not for me. And, as background, I was a licensed Optician for 25 years before I stopped practicing to go to law school. I knew what I was talking about. The Rx/lenses were fine, but the attitude was a total turn-off. I'll never go back even though they're right around the corner from me and I'll never recommend them.
