**July 2026: Tuesday and Wednesday Morning** I usually make it a point to try new places when I travel, so the fact that I ate at Forêt FLG twice in the same trip should say everything about how much I enjoyed it. I was initially drawn in after hearing that Chef Sam Greenhalgh was a semifinalist for the 2024 James Beard Award (Best Chef: Southwest), and I was curious to try his food for myself. On my first visit, my friend and I ordered the Canelés de Bordeaux, Pain au Chocolat, Soft Scrambled Egg Plate, and Breakfast Burrito. We came back again for breakfast and tried the scrambled eggs toast and a savory waffle. Everything we had was delicious, but the Soft Scrambled Egg Plate was truly something special. The eggs were unbelievably light and fluffy, paired with perfectly buttered, toasted bread that somehow felt magical in its simplicity. The heirloom tomatoes and creamy avocado added such a fresh, balanced touch. It's a simple dish, but the execution was exceptional--and honestly, that's what makes it so memorable. I know it sounds a little crazy to return twice for something so simple, but it was just that well done. The breakfast burrito was a strong second favorite. We took it to go as we continued our road trip toward the Four Corners Monument, and it held up really well. It was packed with flavor, and I especially loved that the tortilla had a nice crisp to it. The pastries were also excellent--flaky, buttery, and everything you'd hope for--but for me, that scrambled egg plate is the standout and something I would come back for again and again. read more

I really enjoyed the food and drinks here! Unfortunately, we came during brunch time (10am ish) on a Saturday and did have to wait 30-40 minutes for our food to come out. Luckily, we weren't in a rush and decided to sit and wait. There is seating outdoors and inside. Once you're ready to order, you do so at the counter and then get a number. I wanted to try the cereal milk latte and that was ready 15 min after ordering. It was good. My husband and I both ordered the breakfast burrito which was delicious!!! I loved the potato chips inside the burrito, very unique and a large portion too (I took half home and ate the next day). If you come in on a weekend be prepared to wait 45min + for food. They do have seating indoors but it is limited and on the smaller side. The ambiance is very cozy. The outdoor seating is dog friendly (indoors is not) but the outdoor seating is also small with metal tables/chairs The smoked maple shaken espresso was divine & might be a seasonal menu item & I also got coffee beans to go and have loved the taste of the coffee at home too! The BEC was a no go for me because the eggs were super runny but the croissant itself was delicious! We also tried the sweet croissant waffle and loved it. My husband and I went to this establishment on a Sunday at 11:30 AM. We ordered the breakfast burritos, which were very tasty! However, the young girl at the front counter was not very friendly and gave us our milk right after we paid. The food took one hour. The people around us the same thing. It seemed like the average order was about an hours wait. Fortunately, the reason we came to Flagstaff was to get out of the Phoenix heat, and the weather was amazing that day. We sat outside with a cool breeze, and it was very pleasant that made up for the inconvenience. We could not sit inside because the music was blasting. Now granted, this could be a bougie town and I get that they are not fast food. I would've given them five stars if the front counter was a little friendlier and the food was prepared maybe in 30 minutes? I think that was acceptable considering there was no waiting crowd here. Great customer service that shined through the minute I walked in. Immediately greeted at the register and asked how I was doing. We opted for a hot vanilla oatmilk latte and a Matcha Americano. We got both of these to go. The vanilla latte didn't have any sweetener or vanilla in it. I'm not sure if they maybe put a little bit but nothing really pulled through. The coffee itself was extremely strong, which is not a bad thing considering we were on our truck back home so it's a good thing to stay awake. The ceremonial Matcha was very light in the Americano. I'm not sure what their measurement is, but it could have used another half a teaspoon, at least. The patio is dog friendly and there was a pup out there already at 8:30 AM on a Saturday. The food is good, but it takes too long to deliver to the table a 35 minute wait or longer. They play loud rap and regarding the loud music I asked to turn it down that it was too loud. You can't hear people talking it sound alien banging I am told they play music loud on the weekends the host repose said. I don't like coming here anymore I used to like this place I noticed that there is a guy here with neck tattoos bumping his head to this music completely unaware how this music feels to be blaring here this rap is not what I asked for my chill Sunday morning the people that come here came here for food. The neck tattoo man doesn't get the demographic here doesn't wanna hear about drugs and guns and using the work "f***" and "n***er" in the lyrics cussing when there's children. I am worried my food isn't coming after 35 minutes. Sitting here is not nice. And this man came not o tell our table about how this was a long wait for our food, and saw me writing this 3 star review and told me that we suck to my face. He told me we haven't even tried the food regarding that I've been here. Went on a coffee tour one Saturday as I was in Flagstaff by myself for a bit. Probably the most balanced Cortado poured in Flagstaff. There are several spots that make them, but I had three Cortado's the weekend I was there and then a flat white (which was outstanding, more on that in a different review). The was a line to get in as Foret opened. Importantly it was poured in glass, the microfoam head was solid, the roast balanced. So let's say Foret is the current Cortado champion of Flagstaff until I find another. read more

After a work retreat we headed into town looking for breakfast at Forêt. They have a different setup, a bit classic when it comes to ordering. It's a walk up and order, take a number and find a table. My gf and I asked the girl at the counter about her favorite dishes, coffees. I got the Toffee coffee and she got a mocha coffee (can't quite remember the actual names). Based on the her rec we went with savory croissant waffle. I added a the breakfast burrito. The waffle may be the best waffle I've had. There was prosciutto in the the middle with some spinach, toasted pistachios, Swiss cheese and a maple syrup glaze. There were two poached eggs on top that made it a good balance. The breakfast burrito was good size that we only a little bit. Mostly because we wanted to check out another spot too. The burrito had barbacoa, scrambled eggs, potatoes a house salsa and cheddar cheese. It was still good the next day. Next time in Flagstaff we'd definitely go back read more

Ending my Flag trip here was the move. After a few questionable service moments elsewhere, this spot brought everything back to center from A-Z. Front of house was warm, attentive, and completely on it, the kind of hospitality that sets the tone right away. Food came out quickly without feeling rushed, and every plate delivered exactly what I was hoping for. The steak was cooked perfectly (chef's kiss), and the chimichurri had that bright balance. The prosciutto in the Savory Croissant Waffle was a star. Also, shoutout to a place that can genuinely do both coffee and food well. That's rarer than it should be. Wow! Talk about being totally underwhelmed. $$$ Spendy for ... what? $32.24 for one waffle, and one burrito, no drinks. Took 23 minutes for one waffle to make it to the table. It's now been 35 minutes, my husband has finished his single waffle, and the burrito still hasn't arrived. What an embarrassment for Flag. Such a shame. PS on the way out, we left before the burrito arrived, my husband spoke with the owner. Sam said "oh it's coming out right now", right after a server approached the table to tell us that the burrito went to "another table". Visitors should note that your hotels buffet breakfast will be cheaper than 1 single waffle from Foret. Let that sink in. An entire buffet breakfast is CHEAPER than one solitary waffle from Foret. Don't why the restaurant was so inefficient, and the food was just okay, they were good but consider about the serving speed and the prices, I don't think they deserved the long wait. I like it here! My first time. I got a hot latte with regular drip coffee. Rosalind brand from Oregon. I've visited Oregon and they are serious about their coffee! My latte was smooth and delicious. I wanted to try one of the croissants or cannellini but sometimes in the early am, I just drink coffee the first couple hours. Cute dogs were sitting on the outside patio. I was looking forward to the bumping club music mentioned in the other reviews but it was actually a nice easy listening mix of Sade and other calm instrumental type music playing. I was on the hunt for a good matcha latte and a friend recommended that I swing by Foret and I was not disappointed. I saw a Thai Tea Matcha listed as one of their specials and I was all in. I only waited a few minutes for my drink, the staff was very efficient. They had some bakery items and a full kitchen as well, I would love to come back and try their food some time. There was plenty of seating inside and even a few tables outside. The decor inside was very vibey and there was even some local art for sale inside. Flagstaff, AZ. It was a late morning and not too busy when I stopped by here for breakfast. There is ample street parking but it is all metered or regulated by a machine that takes your money. I was told there was free parking but I did not see any, there was no signage to indicate this or perhaps all those spots were taken. I was pleased that they gladly substituted the almond milk, that normally comes with the granola, with regular cow milk. The granola was great with rolled oats and plenty of nuts, including pepitas and sesame seeds. Some dried blueberries and apricots mixed in and topped with fresh strawberries made this one of the best granolas I've tried. A nice finish on the tongue of maple syrup made this a splendid dish. The Seared Brioche was amazing. With citrus curd and ricotta, topped with fresh fruit and a hint of mint, it was a taste sensation. The light dusting of powdered sugar made for a great presentation. The Canele's were awesome. I ordered a latte also and it arrived at my table in about 15 minutes. At first I was disappointed to see that it was in a glass cup but soon realized it was an insulated glass cup that retained the heat nicely. Well done. It was an ok latte, nice flavor but rather weak. About 5 minutes later I asked a server about our breakfast. They went to inquire and returned to tell me that it's "Only" been 15 minutes and will be out in 10 more (This Did Not Happen). Soon after I noticed two tables near me who were seated much later than I, were getting their orders. I think all of us know when it's been too long to get your food but when this happens it's easy to conclude something is amiss. I liked Forêt FLG a brunch! My husband and I spent the weekend in Flagstaff back in June and decided to stop by Forêt FLG for brunch before heading home. When we arrived, the atmosphere was lively, but there were still a few tables available. We approached the counter to place our order and were promptly greeted by a friendly staff member. They informed us that there was going to be a wait, which wasn't an issue for us since we weren't in a rush. We appreciated the heads-up. We ordered the following: Eggs Benedict Yukon Gold Hash Bowl with an extra egg Oat milk lattes The Yukon Gold Hash Bowl my entree of choice. It featured seared potato, local mushrooms, pickled chilis, white onion, radish, toasted garlic, sesame seeds, roasted tomatillo salsa, and a fried egg (I added an extra egg). It was incredi-bowl! Not only was the dish beautiful, but it was also full of flavor. I enjoyed all the different textures and flavors. My husband liked his Eggs Benedict as well. Forêt FLG has long been on my list of places to try and I finally did it this morning! Oh it was glorious! Highly recommend coming here if you're looking for food that is super fresh and made with the utmost care. I told the person at the counter it was my first time and she happily gave me the run down of the menu and gave recommendations for what is popular and what is rotating right now. I landed on the weekly special sando- bacon & onion peperonata, spicy Calabrian aioli, mixed green salad, and fried egg. When I tell you that something could pack so much flavor into it, I'm not exaggerating. I kept looking at it in amazement of the all the yumminess I experienced with each bite. I ate the whole damn thing, and I loved it! The eggs benne and croque madame were recommended as ordered often but pretty heavy meal. I would have shared those but I was eating solo today so breakfast Sammy was perfect. The place is super chill and casual cafe vibe with incredibly friendly staff. There's indoor and patio seats. I loved it so much and look forward to next time I can come back! My coffee was perfect btw- I got the seasonal brown sugar pecan latte- half sweet with add espresso shot. Sooo, I've been back to Forêt a couple times since my first visit when they were new. Based on the most recent visit this past weekend, I have to rescind my existing 5 star review :( Parking situation I already knew was not great, so I took a spot in a pay lot I saw driving in, a few blocks from the restaurant. Paid $10 for 2 hours. It's about 8:50 on a Sunday morning, as I'm walking up I see outside patio is already full. It may have been a little too cold for me anyway, open the door and wow, inside is looking pretty full as well, but I see one table and some high top bar seats open. It's only a short line to order, but I wait anxiously hoping the one table stays open, since I've paid to park so long I may want to linger. I place my order, which is somewhat exorbitantly expensive: $14 scrambled egg plate +$3 mushroom add-on +$3.50 black drip coffee, comes to $23 for a ratherrrr basic breakfast, but I know the quality is top, so, it's a treat. Then, the cashier points me to a dreadful flip sign: 45 minute wait for food. :','( Girl, I'm 6+ miles of trail running in so far this morning, I need my refuel :','( But I've already paid $10 for parking, and there's not anywhere else I particularly want to eat on this side of the tracks today. Thank goodness the one table is still open since, I'll certainly be lingering... on the front end... As I'm sipping my good but cooling drip coffee, I see the flip sign change to 60 minute wait for food. My stomach howls. Does 45 still apply for me. I become saddened that apparently this is so typical they have invested in this flip sign. Everyone ordering is devastated too. I'm thinking of all the things they could do to make this a little less painful but they don't seem to care - like how about 15% off a pastry to nibble on while you wait, cutting up a cookie and delivering a sample bite to hungry customers, offering some other type of cup to keep my coffee hot. But nothing. Sigh. Wait ended up being about 50 minutes. Other thing I noticed, the plate was supposed to have baguette slices and presumable they ran out and gave me one meager but very tasty piece of toast. It was all tasty. 5 star scrambled egg plate. 2 star experience. Please Forêt, is this really the way you want to run. Maybe it makes money now (?) but customers are only going to tolerate that wait time so many times. That's what they're going to remember of their experience. Please consider fixing the problem... investing in a proper kitchen setup, getting the right staff count for your size of establishment, etc. read more
