This is an family RV camping park, not a tent camping park. I just set up my tent and made a fire. Later on a woman and 4 girls showed up and were tent glamping a couple of spaces down. The camping plots are the same for RV or tents and are very close together. The Pros: -It was easy to find. Maps took you right there. -The property is super cute with permanent RV's lining the river surrounding it. -The owner is very nice. I liked her a lot. :) -The office has a lot of snacks, ice, water, food, games, camping supplies etc. -I got a plot right on the river which was a nice view and sounds. The river is very pretty. -Each plot has a fresh drinking water spigot and an electricity plug. -They have a game room areas by the office with pool tables and arcade games. It reminded me of the movie "The Last Star Fighter" lol -The permanent residents there are very friendly; usually older empty nesters. I enjoyed talking to them a lot. -There are restaurants down the road you can eat at if you get there early. The Cons: -The plots are very close together and children from plots 5-6 spaces down will wander into your camp and hangout about 6 feet in front of your tent blocking the view to the river. -This is an RV camping park, not a tent camping one. You can tent camp there but that's obviously not its focus. -People stare at you. lol I don't know if its because I'm tent camping alone or what but people stared the whole time I was there and considering how close together these plots are it was awkward. -They have bathrooms with showers at this campground which I was very grateful for after many days of backpacking in the woods with no shower. I'm not super high maintenance when it comes to bathrooms and showers but these were pretty bad; showers, sinks, floors were filthy covered in mold, dirt, spiders and spider webs. I wore my Teva sandals, didn't touch anything and showered quickly. Because this is an RV focused park, no one is using these therefore they're not kept up on. Other General Notes: -Call ahead of time to make sure the office will be open and if they have a space open for you. -The office may be locked while the owner is out doing something on the property. Just wait and she'll be back soon. I called ahead of time so I knew she'd be open then and had space for me. -No Wifi service at the campsite and cell service is spotty. -There is a beach you can pay to go to a mile or so down the road; it is NOT affiliated with this camp. I was desperate to swim so I paid. This beach is completely covered in Goose feces and the water is so disgusting I didn't get in despite cooking the sun for hours. I was stunned people would actually swim here.

After she applied my Passport America discount, my stay was $20 or so. I was pointed to a nearby back-in spot and as this is my very first overnight with the RV, I might have missed a few things. The space was level - no need to break out the leveling cubes. The power post was immediately near and I did not need an extension cord. I did not look for the water or sewer hookups. There was a firepit and a cute swing, neither of which I used tonight. They sell firewood in the office and a bunch of other stuff. There is also a fenced in dog park. They have a wifi, but it didn't reach to my parking spot. The restrooms were clean and there's a picnic area near the pool. Owner is very nice and very helpful, keeps the bathhouses, grounds and laundry room clean. I enjoy the pool during the warmer months and walking trails as well. We found that the town of Gafney has First Food Truck Friday downtown, and enjoyed walking around and eating some cool refreshments. We've stayed here about six times since and did a month long stay awaiting the birth of our grandson in May 2025.

You have a couple of options to start where the camp ground is and go down to the end or go to the starting point up river . We took a bus up to the starting point and the gentle man already had our tubes loaded for us. Along the way we down we stopped at numerous sand beaches/ ropw swings on the river . When we got to the mid point of where the camp ground is, we stopped to eat and then finished the river. We tubed 2x during our trip because we loved it so much. Also if you have neck issues ask for the green tubes they definitely are super comfy. Also if you aren't an experience swimmer get a life jacket . Depending on rain the river can run fast or slow and certain parts it's deep and than some are shallow . But if you have questions they definitely answer them truthfully They accept cash,card, and have clean bathrooms . This place is a true family operated business. I definitely recommend this place

There was plenty of fenced in space around the cabin for even our Great Dane to wander around. The dog parks are really nice and our dog especially loved the pond park. The dog wash station is a really nice touch too. The rate is comparable to a mid range hotel, but instead you get a fancy, well appointed cabin that's completely dog friendly and has a ton more amenities. We brought our two senior Shibas, who aren't really into dog parks or other dogs, and they were able to have the entire parks to themselves for at least an hour each day we went. They had so much fun, and being able to pick up some dog treats on the way home from our park adventure was a nice touch. The staff here do an amazing job keeping the campgrounds clean, maintained, and filled with fun activities for dogs and people. Having a fenced in site was great, and our dogs felt right at home. The RV is stocked with almost everything you'll need for a few days, just bring food, towels and personal hygiene stuff and you're set. There's also washers/dryers/general store if you forget anything. Overall we had such a fun time just hanging out, spending quality time with our dogs. There were a ton of social events going on - bonfires, happy hr, etc but we're antisocial so we watched from afar. Looked fun though! We will definitely be back next summer! *My only suggestion would be to include an EV charging station, we were able to trickle charge our vehicle with no issues but having a paid EV charging site/parking spot would be an awesome addition to help generate revenue and attract more road trippers and you can charge while you're at the dog parks. I understand it's mostly a RV destination, but being able to charge our vehicle while we rented the RV was really convenient especially because the nearest supercharger is 45 min away.

Upon arrival, the owners offered to help back in my camper as it was my second time doing so. They offered to help me set up anything I needed help with. They were always friendly, and answered any of my questions without hesitation. This RV park definitely has a homey feel to it. I enjoyed the people around me as well, as all were very nice. They are also very pet friendly, as they LOVED my dog and cat. They were spoiled with love there. One time they brought someone to play live music, and grilled food for everyone at the campsite. Their laundry facilities and bathrooms are always super clean, and all is very spacious. When I was leaving, they also helped me to make sure I was hooked up properly. I am glad I came here for my first RV living experience, and now every other RV park I stay in will have to live up to these expectations. They also had amazing cell and wifi service which was a big plus, being away from home.

Bathroom is clean. The sites are large enough to spread out a little and pop-up a canopy tent and unpack a few chairs. Local gas station and convenience store is only about a mile a away. Larger food store is about 7 miles. Lake Lure is only 10 minutes away. Several state parks, equine center, restaurants, and vinyards/breweries are an easy drive too. Got the propane tanks filled while here, the maintenance guy picked them up and dropped them back to me at my site in under and hour easy, and it was very reasonable. A fairly level gravel base site, with water, power and sewer all within a few feet of each other making hook up straight forward and simple enough. Low maintenance established landscaping between the sites adds some privacy. The pull through where we stayed in the park had a picnic table, along with a gas grill and a covered pergola with a bench swing in the front. All overlooking a field with horses. We have thoroughly enjoyed our extended stay here and really find it hard to leave these peaceful and beautiful surroundings.
