When I tried to return them, the Manager Lisa said they don't do ANY returns on marked down items. I explained that the issue wasn't a preference or taste issue; the item was inedible. That didn't matter and they don't stand behind anything that's marked down. She said she'd make an exception "this time." The $1.63 wasn't really the issue. I thought the store would want to know an item didn't meet their standard. We always wanted to know at my family's store. It's evident that the inedible croissants exceeded Lowes Foods standards. I ordered a no foam chai latte and maple coffee cake. My husband got a hot Americano and maple bacon oatmeal. My chai tasted wonderful and the temp was good. However the cup was light. It was 1/3 full with foam. I brought it back to the barista and asked her if she could remove the foam. She joyfully scraped it off but then I had a cup that was 2/3 full. I expected her to top it off with hot milk but she didn't offer and pushed the cup toward me. I'll say that Starbucks started charging for no foam and I don't mind. I'd rather pay a $0.25 to have a cup full than not. The food was luke warm. The maple coffee cake was delicious. We ended up splitting it because the oatmeal was overtaken by bacon that he couldn't really taste the maple. It was a great idea in theory, Will we be back? Yes, because it's locally owned and a small business. It's conveniently located next to our dog groomer. Jax is not my first go to though. I was pleasantly surprised on this visit because the last time I was here it was much smaller. The expansion includes a wonderful seating area and the very high ceilings make this a very comfortable place to visit with friends and enjoy a cup of coffee. The selection of coffee choices is extensive, and they do offer a small menu of sweet breads and savory breakfast sandwiches. We really did have a wonderful time, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable on the products that they sell. It's nice to know that this coffee shop is so close to home!
