If you are going to order from these guys, you had better be okay with them putting your delivery wherever they feel like putting it and not where you want it to go, no matter how safe or reasonable your request might be.
I have had at least four deliveries from these folks. And deliveries from other soil vendors, too. One of my deliveries was dumped in my driveway when I had clearly requested the driver dump it 15 to 30 ft to the right. That's a full days labor moving 20 yards of soil 15 ft. So I called, and I talked to the owner, Steve, to inform him of the unreasonableness of his driver. I asked that he give me a phone number or email so that I could send him a photo of what happened. He said he wasn't interested. He didn't care. Even though I was still getting another truckload from them that morning. He asked me if I was licensed to drive an 80,000 truck. I said no, and tried to tell him that I was a operations manager for a company that has its own trucks, and I know a lot about trucking and deliveries, and that trucks are typically 44,000 lb, but he wouldn't let me speak. He kept saying safety is subjective. I told him from the photo one can see his driver was totally unreasonable. It was hopeless. I didn't want to pay for a truckload I didn't get, so I decided to let him deliver the next $750 truckload.
Peach Hill is much more expensive for the same stuff, but at least they will try to place their loads where you ask. Just make sure you have seen a sample of what you are getting so that you are not surprised. Everyone's forest mulch has debris in it, which they won't tell you on the phone before it shows up at your house.
Foothill's products seem very good. I have never compared apples to apples. Steve didn't take my criticism well, and in fact totally freaked out on me. I say, "Good!" so that I can help save others from possible abuse.
Good luck with your soil or mulch search! I'm sure glad mine is over read more
