The home section is great--last week I went in looking for a new wire whisk and came out with a new wire whisk and about five people checked off my Christmas shopping list. I like to find odd items people wouldn't buy for themselves, like wine glass accessories or a funky jewelry box. And right now, it is chocolate central! Checkout is fast and the employees are always very nice to me. And, for some reason, it seems that even the music in this store is better than most.

I have not been a fan of super stores, as they tend to either get grocery right and everything else…read morewrong, or vice versa. Walmart and Target are two examples of that. Now that I live outside of Chicago proper, I no longer have access to some of the specialty markets and grocery stores I used to frequent. Meijer tends to meet my needs when it comes to grocery, home products, casual clothing, personal care products, and gardening. Two things that stand out the most was their gardening products. I had started gardening, so seeds, plant food, gardening soil, and other gardening items were reasonably priced. Being a pescatarian, there vegetables worked for me. But now that I grow my own, the gardening catalog worked perfectly for me. As to grocery, although there has been spike in grocery prices, they were not as high as I noted at other grocery stores. It helps that I take advantage of coupons, specials, and price reductions thanks to participating in their perks program. This store serves four immediate suburbs, so it tends to get busy on weekends, for sure. I go during the middle of the day when I work from home through the week. I have yet to go and not find what I needed. And because I am a very picky shopper, primarily from the perimeter of the grocery store, I have not been disappointed in what they have.

I do not consider myself a frequent shopper but it works for me. I was at the store at off-peak timing, 4 p.m. on a Thursday. They are hiring a hairdresser for the salon should anyone be looking for one. Lots of sales but the item that I chose was not eligible for a discount, which is posted on the JCP webpage (Champion fitness wear). Not many shoes but this has been true for some time. Very nice sales associate at the check out location, other associates around the store. They are bilingual. Give it a try.
