I have not been a fan of super stores, as they tend to either get grocery right and everything else wrong, or vice versa. Walmart and Target are two examples of that. Now that I live outside of Chicago proper, I no longer have access to some of the specialty markets and grocery stores I used to frequent. Meijer tends to meet my needs when it comes to grocery, home products, casual clothing, personal care products, and gardening. Two things that stand out the most was their gardening products. I had started gardening, so seeds, plant food, gardening soil, and other gardening items were reasonably priced. Being a pescatarian, there vegetables worked for me. But now that I grow my own, the gardening catalog worked perfectly for me. As to grocery, although there has been spike in grocery prices, they were not as high as I noted at other grocery stores. It helps that I take advantage of coupons, specials, and price reductions thanks to participating in their perks program. This store serves four immediate suburbs, so it tends to get busy on weekends, for sure. I go during the middle of the day when I work from home through the week. I have yet to go and not find what I needed. And because I am a very picky shopper, primarily from the perimeter of the grocery store, I have not been disappointed in what they have. read more

I make the rounds for food shopping, making notes of what stores carry certain brands and the various price points. Yesterday I stopped at this Meier's store, and was hugely disappointed. The produce was just passable and, therefore I passed on most of it. Although cucumbers were my mainly in one section, I found numerous English and regular cukes stuffed into a separate space. Clearly this was an employee who took the easy way out. Is there no produce supervisor? Citrus is just about done, but I found bags that were reasonable so I grabbed one. Lemons of two different strains and sizes were thrown together in the bag and nearly half were bad. Some had no juice, a few were rather rotten and two others squirted juice in the air when I checked them for freshness. Are worms causing those weird holes? Not bothering to take them back because I am not keen on returning. read more

Do I shop here on a regular? Yes for some things and because of the huge variety of items. However, never the deli - flies in the case, not enough staff, staff that is working is obviously overworked and tired. Meat - be picky and seriously check prices as some is far above other stores. Dairy - check dates! Often there are out of date items. In fact, even in the center aisles - check dates! I've picked up green, fussy tortillas, stale bagels, salad dressing a year out of code. On the good side, they carry some things other stores in the area don't have. They have a large variety. And you could do one store for almost everything. There's easy quick grab, inexpensive lunch items near the front registers. And, the pharmacy is great! Basically...they need more quality staff. There just aren't enough hard working people to keep up with a store this size. read more

Watch the pricing it often doesn't scan correctly and there are plenty of people there who target seniors to pickpocket or steal purses. The deli workers don't follow standards of cleanliness either. read more

I was in your store in flossmore 6/14, 3:00. Cashiers and bag person were eating snacks and taking selfies. Cashier Teshawna was talking to the young man and said the FU-- word. Then before taking a selfie she wiped the sleep from his eyes.. then she finished the sale and handed me my recipe. Drinking at the register is understandable, eating swearing and taking pitches is very rude. Where is the management? Head cashier? Not the way to run a bussiness. THE SECURITY Guard does nott talk to men but talks to the women that come in. I will not be coming back to this store. read more

What can I say as Meijer a is a good store generally.... The problem I have here at this location is the dirty parking lot and the lack of cashiers. Why are there only one or two cashiers open in a sea of shopping lanes? It takes people seriously complaining for someone to get up and help. Either the store is grossly understaffed or the management doesn't foster the proper atmosphere, which is it? It would be nice to spend my money in a friendly, clean store. Maybe someday we can get a discount for scanning our own stuff?? That's probably too much to ask. I guess I'll just wait an hour in this line here and hope my food doesn't thaw and rot away... In the time of the pandemic, The Meijer store in Flossmoor Illinois was stocked as well as its competitors. While some items more stocked than others, there were no household essentials, personal needs or cleaning products on the shelves. The store appeared in disarray as employees appeared invisible and unable to find. The environment was poorly lit, quiet, and eerie as customs practiced their version of social distancing. While I was unable to find what I sought, the fresh product department appeared adequately stocked. There are several self-checkout registers without employees' support while the parking lot is huge and shared with other stores on the premise. It's not a bad store but like so many others, items are becoming harder to find even before the pandemic. read more

There is a stock boy named Nakia (i think) on 07/07/24 i came in looking for spaghetti packets .... Although they did not have then in stock he looked for me and with me for over 20 min , what Nakia didn't know was i was going on no sleep and a ton of stress i had just lost my brother to suicide 3 days before, his willingness to help and go above and beyond stuck with me and touch my heart. I did go back to the store today 7/21/24 and saw nakia again as we remembered each other (thats how i got his name ) you never know what people are going through..... the world needs more Nakias! read more

I ordered a cake for my son's birthday. I served it to my guest who brought to my attention that the cake was dry and did not taste like the other cakes that I've purchased from Meijer's before. I called the bakery the next day and was informed that I would have to speak with the manager who was not in that day. I called again on Monday and was given the runaround before the "manager" picked up the phone. As I'm explaining to her my concern, she replied with nothing but attitude "okay" as if I was bothering her with my concern. As I continued to express what happened, she replied "well you should have brought it back." I did express that I was not looking for a refund, due to the fact that the cake was gone, but I just wanted to inform her of the issue. She again very rudely replied "okay. Is that all?" Not once did she apologize for the inconvenience. I then called to speak with the district manager and I believe that I spoke with just another staff member from the bakery department. I can always count of finding what I need here. They keep the shelves stocked very well. The produce is fresh and has a nice variety. I always find quality meats at good prices. I haven't been to the other side of the store as I really only grocery shop here. The app is nice. It tracks my purchases and lets me know when my items are on sale. Shout out to the pharmacist JEN! This wonderful lady went over and beyond to help us. We needed a RX urgently and there was a problem due to the doctors order. Jen took it upon herself to reach out to the Doctors office after hours and left her personal phone number with them to try and get this resolved. She called be back with updates and even followed up with me the next day to make sure all went well. I can't begin to tell you how amazing she is. We are truly grateful to her. Poor quality in produce, overpriced meat,limited foodstuffs from England, rude deli counter staff, which reminds me....when you have job that involves customers, you might tailor your voice into something that does not resemble an stressed out mother dealing with her kids. Meh. Pros- A massively huge store with tons and tons of merchandise. Fairly neat and well stocked most of the times that I'm there. Good prices and good sales. Floor employees are usually pretty helpful. Cons - The register operators and the employees that work the self checkout are the absolute worst 9 out of 10 times. Cornietta.........WHY does she still work here? She has ZERO customer service skills. I've had numerous negative interactions with her. So much so that I reported her to the Manager n that ain't my usual thing. And she literally SCREAMED at me in front of the Store Manager!!!And she's still there. The Meijer Store in Flossmoor is a huge store, with ample amounts of parking. The store is clean! It has a Starbucks located on the inside so you can grab a cup of java before going on a shopping endeavor. I was impressed with the Fresh Produce section because it is well organized and well stocked. They had plentiful varieties of vegetables like Turmeric and Ginger which is sometimes hard to find at other grocery stores. The negatives were that the lines were extremely long around 4 pm. They should have more cashiers open. read more

24 hours is a a good feature. The staff is friendly, but not always responsive or productive. The lines take too long for customers to move through at checkout. The produce is lacking. Food is left wilting with too many instances of molded produce. The organic options are limited. The managers need to reassess and visit the Frankfort location! By comparison, the location in Frankfort, Il has a larger produce section with fresh looking food. Overall, it reflects either a higher respect for the consumers or better management. This location is also well-stocked with a better layout. I just don't understand why this newer location is so neglected. I'm probably going to just take myself over to Mariano's again. read more

This is the most unprofessional and ghetto store that I have ever encountered in my life! I went inside the store at approximately 2:45-3pm on 4-2-3 to use the coinstar machine. I completed my transaction and proceeded to stand in line at the customer service desk. There were three people in front of me, so I read the receipt and it stated that I take the receipt to ANY register in the store and the teller could give me cash for the receipt. So I got out of line and went to a register where there were no customers waiting. I gave the clerk the receipt and she scanned it looking puzzled. After she scanned it I waited for about 3 minutes for her to see if she could get the money out of the register but she could not. She then called over a gentleman (I guess he was the store lead- I didn't get his name). Anyway, he came over to the receipt and said oh she needs to cash this over at the customer service desk. At that point I stated that it says that I could cash it at ANY register on the receipt and that's why I got out of line at the customer service desk to come over to the teller that was empty so I didn't have to wait because I was in a rush. The lead person looked at the receipt and said oh yes it does say that (?) So he attempted to do something to get the register to pay me but he couldn't get it. So he went behind the customer service desk and said that he would take me over there. So I went back over to the customer service desk and waited approximately 15 minutes for him and he went in the back and left me standing there and didn't say anything. So the lady who was working at the desk I asked her to check to see what was going on because I had to leave at that point. I had been in the store about 30 minutes trying to cash in a simple $89.82 ticket from the coin star machine. Needless to say I was getting very upset and impatient waiting on a simple transaction. So after 15-20 minutes past I saw the lead guy and asked him hey what is going on? I need to get out of here! He then proceeded to tell me that he has to go get his manager to help because he couldn't scan the ticket to pay me my money. So I'm like how long is that going to take? (I said I could have just waited in line at the customer service desk and the lady could have just helped me at the desk if I knew this was going to be such an issue)! So then I see the manager (Carol W.) Walking back and forth and I'm like oh so she's the manager that's going to help me and he said yes. So instead of her saying ma'am I'm going to assist you. She was on the phone with holding it up to her ear, talking and laughing and giggling on the phone with whomever it was and I stood there for about 7 minutes before I finally said. Excuse me. How long is this going to take? And she's like? I'm sorry but I have to audit this drawer before I give you your money back! At that point I was so annoyed and irritated because she didn't even make eye contact with me. She was too busy yapping on the phone and I said well if you get off of the phone and use two hands maybe you could go a little faster because I need to get out of here. I've already been waiting for over 30 minutes! So then she got upset and was like don't come at me like that because I'm not going to listen to you. Come at me like that and I'm like come at you like what I'm a customer and you're on the phone. Didn't even acknowledge I was here or tell me what you were doing. All I hear is you giggling and yapping on the phone and I doubt if it was business related but she said that it was. At that point she turned around and it was ignorant and belligerent word for word because I'm like. Could you just help me and give me my money so I can get out of here. Well that's what I'm trying to do but I was multitasking and you don't come at me like that at that point it was silence in the store and a big crowd and I'm like you know what can I see your manager to help me and she was really rude, ignorant and belligerent and said yeah 631 call Reina to the Lead guy that was helping me earlier.... And I said yeah call Reina!!??? at 631. I don't care who you call just t give me my money so I can get the hell out of this store!! Then she kept going on and on and laughing to whoever she was talking to on the phone saying stuff about me instead of trying to give me my money. She kept stating well. This is the procedure that I have to order this drawer and if you don't like it you can go to another store. Matter of fact where is your receipt and she pulled my receipt out of the garbage can, uncalled it and tried to give it to me. Do you want your receipt back? She said and I said no. I would like to just get my money back so I can get out of here. I've already been waiting for over 45 minutes now! So I was literally in that store for almost an hour trying to handle a simple transaction! This Meijer's store is well-run, clean and the employees are friendly and responsive. Besides a convenient location, their store is well-stocked and its easy to quickly find what you are looking for. I don't see it as just one of many in their location collection, but seems to have pride in what they deliver and I look forward to heading there. You can always find a spot to park and there is room to walk, its not cluttered by displays 'all over the place'. You can just shop and find what you need. One concern I do want to mention is that there some 23 register lanes, however only 5-6 are ever open at any time, even when the store is busy during rush hour. So its a great place to shop, but they should also provide more cashiers during busy times. I do recommend this store for groceries and their garden center has very friendly staff when its open, during warmer weather. read more

I come here early in the morning to make sure I get everything before it's gone just for them to not even be stocked up. Deli isn't open so my whole trip was a waste because I didn't get any of the food I needed. I end up buying birthday cards and gift cards. Tried to get balloons but after waiting for 20 minutes and having 3 employees call it out on the intercom still no one assisted me. Get to the register and pay $72 cash and inserted a quarter but the change machine wasn't working so everything reset and I had to be taken to customer service. What should've been a 10 minute store run turned into 45 minutes and I didn't even get what I came for. Amari helped me as much as he could and gifted me a $10 gift card but it's the inconvenience of my time. There's ALWAYS an inconvenience coming here. read more

Almost need to do two reviews. Please read on... 5 stars for huge selection of gluten-free food and similar restrictive diet food if you need it. 1 star for the Live Betta Fish (live is questionable). They're in cups with their feces, many lying on their side or glass surfing (Google that if unfamiliar). There are justifications because Bettas live in small bodies of water for *part* of the year that doesn't get much rain, BUT they don't live in plastic cups under fluorescent lights. So many don't even make it to these big box stores; they die in the process. *If* they make it to your home, they've likely already spent 1/3 to half their life in extreme captivity, shipping, etc. They even sell fish bowls at Meijer which are illegal in many countries because they are strongly not recommended. Bettas prefer tropical temperatures so a heated tank is much better. They build bubble nests (Google that too it's pretty cute and interesting), rear young, etc. They're bred to have extreme qualities like bright colors or extreme glowing for aesthetics with no regard to the genetic consequences. Another box store advertised them as "Live Decor." It's one of the most inhumane things I've seen in real life lately. See for yourself on the back wall of the animal supplies section. Please don't sell live animals Meijer - the industry is extremely inhumane. Can't believe I even have to write this in the 21st Century. read more

waited in Line for 8 hours for a sports card release today. The sign said 2 boxes per person. Finally its almost time to make my purchase and they say its one box per person. I told them the sign says 2. The vendor very rude that if i didn't like it i could leave. I then told the department lead and she told me it changes every week and was sorry with an additude. I told her meijer just lost a customer for life. I am a retail store manager and could never see myself being so rude to a loyal customer who has waited for litterally hours waiting. This is my local grocery store so yes i'm definitely a regular. Fresh produce and food. Sometimes you can find a great deal on other items like the bed sheets, clothing, and shoes. The store stays organized and makes it easier for me to shop so yes I love shopping here. read more

Extremely DISAPPOINTED .... was in Meijer on Wed. 21 June 2023. There was ice cream advertised on the freezer door @ a price of 2 for $7. When I arrived at cash register it rang at full price. Whereupon I inquired about the pricing. The young lady ring up my purchaces summoned a young man from customer service who advised me to step aside while he checked. After a lengthy wait i went over to freezer area and observed him removing the ad price. Upon seeing me he states "There is NO sale price on the freezer door" .... rather than telling me the sale price was placed or left there in error he attempted to convince me I had lied about it. Needless to say, Jewel-Osco will become my preferable place to shop. This incident moved my star rating from 5 to a 1 1/2, perhaps a 2 at best. Prior to said incident, had anyone asked, Meijer would have been my recommendation for grocery/incidental shopping. read more
