The store has a small town feel and everyone is friendly. The store is a nice size and easy to navigate. This is especially important since I'm having hip and back problems. I love sockeye salmon and they always have it in stock. I usually purchase 4 at a time. The cashiers are always friendly and welcoming and the service is spot on. In addition to the salmon, I love their cranberry walnut muffins. They are made fresh daily. Like most grocery stores, Walt's has pretty much everything you'd expect from a grocery store. Meijer tends to meet my needs when it comes to grocery, home products, casual clothing, personal care products, and gardening. Two things that stand out the most was their gardening products. I had started gardening, so seeds, plant food, gardening soil, and other gardening items were reasonably priced. Being a pescatarian, there vegetables worked for me. But now that I grow my own, the gardening catalog worked perfectly for me. As to grocery, although there has been spike in grocery prices, they were not as high as I noted at other grocery stores. It helps that I take advantage of coupons, specials, and price reductions thanks to participating in their perks program. This store serves four immediate suburbs, so it tends to get busy on weekends, for sure. I go during the middle of the day when I work from home through the week. I have yet to go and not find what I needed. And because I am a very picky shopper, primarily from the perimeter of the grocery store, I have not been disappointed in what they have.

Many outlets today don't have on site butchers ... the stores buy precut meat and repackage it with their name. While I am sure some of that happens at Walt's, they have a real live butcher also doing his thing, and it is a nice addition. Also unlike some other places, the selection of fish and lamb and beef is very broad. Many items are on the shelf and you do not have to special order. All in all this Walt's in Homewood was excellent. We'll continue riding out here o do our shopping as they have some of our local shops beat handsdown. Try it.
