I went to the Dollar Tree located 1333 Hilltop in Chicago Height, Il. Lately, the new hires that they have onboard are very unprofessional. The two Dollar Tree associates were standing at the front entrance having personal conversation. There were pre-filled balloons in the front of the store. I asked the associates "are there more balloons besides the pre- filled"? The young man answered, "No". I selected 3 balloons and a card. But I needed a weigh for hold the balloons. I saw the weights at the back near the refrigerator. I walked to the back and the sound from was a little loud. I heard a voice yelling excuse me From afar. The associated said that I was ignoring her. I stated that I didn't know she was speaking to me. Then the young man was very unprofessional. He stated that i crossed the orange line in the back. I did not see the line and there was no sign up about saying employee only. The young man got the weight and started to talk about me. I asked if there was someone who could help me? The young lady associate took my balloons and cards and said have a good day. You can leave. I asked for a name and number. They stated there is no number. I will not return to that location. I truly fear for safety. They may just physically assault customers. Like they have done recently. Please encourage people to stay away from the Chicago Heights location.

ORIGINAL: I am a frequent shopper at this Family Dollar location because it is close to the movie theater and their movie snacks are usually fresher than other nearby stores. The cashiers are friendly and are always buzzing around refilling and organizing shelves. Sometimes the lines are ridiculously long for a quick stop shop but rarely is another lined opened to reduce the overflow. Then again, I don't usually see extra workers too handle such congestion, so scheduling workers might need a second look. My only issue is the awkward conversation I've noticed between a male manager, I think he's the owner, and other workers. He speaks well to customers in a one on one when you ask for advice in locating something or when checking out, but his pleasant manners seem to end there. On my last visit I was blown away and felt very uncomfortable to witness his belittling comments to a cashier standing near him at the register. "Sometimes you all act like kids. You act like you can't find anything. It's right there where I told you it was.", the manager stated firmly in a frustrated-parent-with-an-attitude-talking-to-a-child voice. The very adult looking cashier reached under the counter and retrieved an item and looked at me with such humiliation. There was another person in the line in front of me and we also shared an awkward look and embarrassed to have witness such a reprimand toward an adult senior in front of customers. It was this incident that promoted me to check in and start Yelping. Such behavior from the manager has happened more than once but I couldn't shake this last experience, no matter how fresh the movie candy is. Treating your workers with respect is vital to reducing the high turn over of workers noticed at this location, especially in front of customers. Otherwise, great neighborhood store.
