Advertised at 0.99 cents, but I was charged $1.19 instead.
Gustavo G.

They seem to have some good deals, but I feel cheated because the price of Penafiel was being advertised at 0.99 cents, yet was charged $1.19 / bottle. This problem has happened to me at other Food 4 Less locations as well. I don't know if this is a Kroger company problem or Food 4 Less problem. BEWARE

The rudest unapologetic Food 4 Less racist guard!

I was unnecessarily harassed and followed around my local store-where I've shopped for over a decade by a rude security guard at the Parthenia and Woodley store in North Hills between 2:30-3pm-ish on 4|22|25! The security guard was at the entrance when I walked in. He left his position and walked behind me into the store. I turned left to the beverage aisle for aloe vera juice, he turned right. I got a 24 pak $1.89 bag of Bollis-Mexican liquid lollipops, took ONE out of & put the rest inside my shopping cart in plainview. My cart was behind me as I rummaged in lthe freezer. When I turned to grab my cart, he was standing in my way, pointing into my cart and saying THAT! THAT! I said what? He said no eating in the store. I said I'm sorry, is this a new rule? I really didn't know and explained I had to do it to hydrate due to my BP meds and said ok, I won't do it again, that I did it often but was never told it was a problem, because I always paid for it. He blurted out loudly "YOU'RE INTOXICATED! Just go, don't come back! I was stunned! Why did he shout? I'm what? I felt he had neither a probable cause to conclude I'd shoplifted when the merchandise was neither concealed, nor did I fail to pay for it. Videos will show that I wasn't weaving or being disruptive. I tried to push my cart away, but he held on to it with one hand and dismissively shoo'd me away and said go, just go don't come back. Leave -now! I'm confident store surveillance will show that I hadn't done anything to warrant my removal without charge or proof of wrongdoing. I pulled back my cart and went to the manager. The manager was as dismissive after reiterating what I told the guard -he said there's no eating in the store. Fine, I still didn't see why he followed me -he could have observed me on the cameras on every aisle, plus my intent to pay was evident because I put the rest in the middle of the cart -not in my purse, I didn't secretly drink it. It was between my teeth and dangled off the side of my mouth. I knew I absolutely had the $1.89 to pay for it. The manager said "ok, ok, he won't follow you ANYMORE" - suggesting he KNEW I was being followed as if he was doing me a favour. I pointed at the spectators [all white] & asked why didn't he follow him, or her, or someone else? He seemed firmly on the guard's side, unbothered by his rudeness to me. I was stunned by the level of trolling over nothing. I'd never treat my customer like that. I said I've been coming here for over 10 years- ask anyone else if they've ever had a problem with me. I felt diminished to be followed from the moment I walked into the store, without a previous history of doing something to warrant such attention. I told the manager I thought that was RACIAL PROFILING He said it wasn't told me to go and finish shopping. The guard's tone was rude and taunting, rolling his eyes and shaking his head. Spectators who heard him say I was intoxicated gathered for a closer view, sniggering and laughing. As I was paying for my groceries, I heard a commotion...it was the guard shouting STOP! STOP! & struggling to wrest a backpack bulging with STOLEN MERCHANDISE from a WHITE GUY, who yanked it back and ran. He chased the THIEF into the parking lot then returned alone. THE THIEF GOT AWAY! SUMMARY: Whilst busy humiliating, accusing [of *theft & intoxication] & trying to kick BLACK WOMAN out of the store over ONE lollipop for which she paid, a WHITE GUY was robbing the store blind and made off with the loot! Here are videos of the 2nd incident. Too large to attach here. If you can't click on it search for it on YouTube under RACIST FOOD 4 LESS|KROGER SECURITY GUARD https://youtube.com/shorts/KL1yWclM6ko?si=V1YpKfkrXokWk_57

The store manager "Jose" is turning off the breaker to the Pokémon vending machines so he could scalp them all for myself ! When I asked him why there is y power to the outlet , he said electrical work was being done but nobody was working . I'm an electrician, so know if work was being performed. He got defensive when I questioned the "supposed work" what a joke of a manager to go to that extent over POKÉMON CARDS

This is the 2nd time I have been here and I don't remember it to be this huge. It is like going to Costco. They have their own gas station and plenty of parking spots. One stop services like ATM, RedBox, and Copy Keys are being offered too. Aisles are wide, free of clutter which makes the navigation not difficult, shelves are well stocked, signage are visible, and the store is well lit making the surroundings conducive for shoppers. It helps a lot to see what they have in store for you. This is an upgrade to other locations that I have been to. Cashiers are smiling and asks about your shopping experience. Plenty of good deals in big numbers luring the customers to check it out. They sell fresh meat and in bulk. A good way to save. Prices are better than other grocery chains.

I love the clearance section

This is my go to but the cashier Martha is always in a bad mood and so rude. I always try to avoid her other than that it's a great store. The hot food is always fresh.

I've been coming here on and off for a few years, recently bought a 3 pack of sliced steak from here, once I opened was totally discolored on the back and other pieces of steak. I called to try and ask if I could return without a receipt, the sell by date hasn't passed, and I explained I just bought it a couple days ago. First of all they answer "hello" when u call, no introduction. So I talked to some young kid, he put me on hold, some other woman answered, knew nothing of the situation, got out back on hold again. Same guy came back again, with no answers, I ask for the manager. The same guy answers again claiming to be a manager. Would not honor any kind of store credit or anything. They sold me bad meat, and won't do anything about it. So frustrated with this store. No professionalism.

It's just best to cook at home these days. It''s cheaper, you know what's in the food and when it's made with love it taste amazing! I am a cook and so I appreciate a grocery store that always has what I need on the shelves and at a price I can afford. Although inflation is everywhere, they are still a little cheaper than most and the quality is still there. Now I do have to say Walmart beats their prizing in many categories BUT there are some brands Walmart doesn't carry that Food 4 Less always has. Happy New Year!

What I didn't know I bought

I bought a few packs of almonds last Saturday. I thought I was buying current and safe products. I apparently was wrong. So this store actually had the nerve to sell rotten 3 year old almonds. Unfortunately I ate some of them since i thought they were safe. Apparently I was wrong. I tried to reach out to them, that was pointless. So be careful what you buy from here, you night get food poisoning as well.

The local grocery store that caters to everyone. Of course we all need that. Also a positive thing,…read morethey still have the gold star machine for converting change into cash....lol... We all have that jar or tin where all the loose spare change gets tossed into. After years of tossing the loose change away, it was time to bring it in for actual cash. There was actually another store that I popped into but their machine was out of order. This Ralph still has there up front right by the floral and self serve register. It's as simple as it gets when using it. Touch the screen to start. From there, toss all the loose coins into the tray and start. It sorts it out and counts the coins for you. Anything that isn't a normal coins gets dispensed down to the return slot. Once you finish, it breaks down and count the totals amount of coins counted. The breakdown of everything that was accepted. To cash out, they print out a voucher where it can be used for purchase or cash from the register. Simple as that. Oh, they do take a certain amount for the fee. Anyways, it's old school but with the coins but it does come in handy... lol... Store, it's your local spot where the neighborhood shop. Depending on when you come, early or evening tends to be when the restocking happens. Throughout the day, it happens but rarely as they rather have it done when the store is less busy. The produce is always pretty fresh with the regular and organic. Meats has alway been great whenever I'm there. Seafood, they have a decent selections. Some stores more than others but it does the trick. Hot deli section has a good selections of premade item. Depending on what day you visit, they have deals. Like fried chicken, rotisserie chicken, pizzas and so on. Different day different special. When checking out, sometimes it's faster to do self check out. But where there's loads in your cart, it's probably a better bet to go into the lines as the groceries does pile up and trying to bag yourself can be a bitch. There's not much negative about this place as it's a pretty straight shot. Plenty of parking in the lot.

She was upset about a small sample paper cup that was sitting inside the cart and accused them of throwing it there. The strange part is that my family member was still holding their own sample cup in their hand and told her that. Instead of realizing it may have been left there by someone else, the woman aggressively snatched the cup from her hand, and continued escalating the situation. The conversation was happening in Korean, and she began insulting them, saying they didn't even speak Korean and couldn't understand what she was saying. We are Korean by the way. All of this over a tiny paper sample cup that wasn't even theirs. The cashier seemed confused and was apologetic, clearly unsure why this woman was acting this way. What was more disappointing was that when it was brought to the owner or manager's attention, the response was dismissive. My family member was asked to let it go, not the worker It's concerning that someone felt comfortable physically reaching into a customer's cart and grabbing something from their hand, and that it was brushed off instead of addressed. Unfortunately, this isn't our first negative experience here. On a previous visit, we bought multiple cabbage that turned out to be rotten inside. I called immediately, took photos, and asked if I could return it. I was told yes, but the person on the phone sounded irritated, like it was somehow my fault. There are other options, like Galleria, where the produce is consistently fresher and the management is noticeably more attentive and welcoming. Very disappointing overall.

Needed a few things for the holidays, but also to stock up on the everyday and can I just say, F4L came through in lots of unexpected ways including in the frozen, produce and dairy sections, okkkkaaay!! Not to mention MorningStar, Impossible and everything in-between. Great snacks, juices, and so many 2 for 1 specials. We found parking right in front in their parking lot on the corner of Sherman Way/Hayvenhurst Avenue. All the staff was personable, even the security was quite the warm person during our visit. While some produce was low, we still managed to find fresh mushrooms and spinach. Shopping with my family we discovered a great bakery area as well, not mention a holiday cake for my mom, niece and nephews. I discovered cookie dough flavored Oreos and dairy free ice cream for myself. During the holidays and peak hours the parking lot is definitely still a zoo of sorts, but be patient, take your time and you'll get in and out easy. I'm not a frequenter of Food4Less locations with other reasonable places closer to me, but this is the closest location and one I'd recommend in the Lake Balboa area of L.A.'s San Fernando Valley, just off the 405 fwy passed the Van Nuys Airport. Typically open 6AM - 12AM/Midnight every day of the week with some differing/reduced hours on holidays. If you been to any Food4Less you know you self bag your groceries. Their plastic bags are super nice, clear and sturdy with the logo on each side. Good spirit selection, locked up in front. Also great wine and beer options, we definitely grabbed so things for Christmas and New Years. Hoping to return again soon for any and all occasions now that I know I've been sleeping on this grocery gem for a bit. I did frequent the Reseda and Canoga Park locations when I lived on the west side of the valley once upon a time ago, but this is definitely one of the more well put together and kept up locations.
