I stopped by this Superior supermarket today to get my daughter a slice of cake to celebrate her turning 7 months. I found parking just fine when I came in the afternoon. When I walked inside, the cakes is on the right side of the entrance so it was convenient for me. They had some nice options for a whole cake but I just wanted a slice. I saw some flan which I know my wife would love so I got her that and a slice of strawberry cake. I walked to the produce area and it was nicely organized. Everything looks fresh and they were fully stocked. I went to the ice cream aisle to get some crunch ice cream. I used the self checkout which was simple. I had an issue where it couldn't detect the weogh of the cake so I couldn't pay, I went to ask a worker nearby and she fixed it for me. read more

Claudia/Celeste the cashier was extremely rude. I highly recommend she gets retrained in customer service. I go up to her register and say hello and she just continues her conversation with her other coworker. Doesn't say a word to me. I have to do the transaction again because I pressed the wrong key so I let her know, with a smile on my face, and she just continues to ignore me, I pay for my groceries and I wasn't offered a bag, she hands me my receipt and doesn't even look at me. The new customer approached and she said "hi how are you, would you like a bag?" So for some reason unbeknownst to me, she physically chose not to speak to me and just judged me and ignored me. I carried all of my groceries in my hand because I got not a single word said to me. How hard is it to be kind? How hard is it to say hello when someone else says hello to you? Why did you choose to ignore me? Is it because I'm another woman and you are judging for nothing?? Please, HR if you see this, retrain this girl. It's not difficult to be kind to others. I come to this grocery store quite often! With that said, I wish I had a better rating to give them. Today, upon arrival, it seems the meat section is always unsanitary. Today was the last straw when I was witnessing what type of filth goes on around fish! Raw fish. The type of people they have at cash registers seem like they absolutely HATE their jobs, they toss things that shouldn't be tossed around like that when they are scanning them through. I get it, superior may not cater to your needs as an employee but must you really take it out on the customers who are basically making sure you even have a job by providing the store with business? Always great prices on most of their produce and their meats are super fresh and good! Everytime we grill we stop by and pick up some longaniza, salvadorian chorizo and chicken breast fillets. Every time we've brought the chorizo and longaniza to BBQs people love it and they're surprised to hear where we purchase. I only go to this location because the NoHo one is just not the same or as good. read more

Horrible experience!!! I went to buy seafood and asked the employee for shrimp and octopus. I noticed chunks of ice inside the bag of octopus and informed the employee that the bag had chunks of ice and it wasn't fair for me to pay for chunks of ice once she weigh it. Well this lady got pretty upset and confrontational, saying it wasn't her store and all the seafood was like that. She said the scale would automatically deduct the weight of the ice...lol...I said "how is that possible...how does the scale know what's ice and what's seafood?" She said every scale was different. Yeah right it's not. They are inspected by Weights and Measures Dept....but was insisted.. Anyways....this employee was super rude raising her voice and being extremely unprofessional. Big problem for me is that they freeze their seafood to make it heavier and they still put ice inside the product to charge you more for it. Why am I paying $5 a pound of seafood when half is the weight of the ice. WOW!!! read more

After reading the reviews for Superior Super Warehouse, it appears that this place should be avoided at all costs like the plague. WHY?! I'm sorry if the first reviewer gave this place one star, but I found a lot of good deals, especially in the produce aisle. Five manila mangoes for $1. Dulcinea baby watermelon for $1 each. And eight lbs of oranges for $1?! I thought my eyes were deceiving me, but no they were not. And the produce is very fresh and comparable to what you can find in the national supermarket chain stores such as Vons and Albertsons. You probably can't buy Dulcinea watermelons at that price anywhere else! Of course, this is another Mexican grocery store. There is a freshly baked tortilla section when you first enter the store, and it is organized like any other grocer...deli, bakery, meat, etc. But the best deals are in the produce aisle, and I might stop by again when I have time to kill in L.A. read more

Now I don't shop here. This review is based solely on their Fried Chicken. Hot damn that's good chicken. Ordered a 75 piece for a party. It was ready when promised and, again, damn that's good chicken. Took this to a party in Pacoima, and there was soooo much good food. And I couldn't get enough of this chicken. Be warned though. If you do want a big order on the weekend, do order early. The spaces fill up real quick. read more

There isn't too much to say about Superior other than I like that they make their own tortillas and chips. But as for now, it is the homebase of where I purchase my items when I have my Taco Tuesdays. Too bad they probably put El Tigre out of business though. read more

I only go in here if I MUST! One day I went b/c they had the pork ribs on sale. I was going to make some costillas de puerco en chile verde... MMM YUMMY! The ribs were not in the meat counter but in the packaged meat section. SInce the ribs are whole, I take them to the meat counter (which was empty) and asked if the they can please slice them for me. It wasnt that much either and remember the place is empty... the guy told me no since the meat was on sale. I thought to myself REALLY??? other places (food4less, payless foods, el super, vallarta) all offer this for free on sale and regular priced items,,, why not just take 3 min to make the customer happy? Ordered a cake . New girl took order and wrote the order wrong. Birthday girl was allergic to strawberry. Strawberry is what they put in cake. Spoke to the manager and she didn't even look at the order. No partial refund or even a sorry for their stupid mistake . Hi Everyone, Again this store disappointed me. We have shopped her 20 years and this location gets worse and worse. Not only did I yelp last week in regards to the long lines to check out, and there were hardly any customers, but the cashiers make many mistake. Today the 2 cashiers that handle the 10 items or less line, were letting in shoppers, 3-4 at each lane, with many more than 10 items. When i complained to the manager, he just told the cashiers to watch out, but he did not pull the customers out of line. My favorite Mexican grocery store! I wish they had the same kind of hot food section like at Vallarta. If you're in the bakery get a pumpkin empanada or a bollio with queso and jalapeno. the both are so good. in the back at the hot food section they have fried beef and bean burritos that are like 2 for buck or a buck each. I love those things. Good prices on Mexican sodas like Jarritos. They also make a decent avocado salsa that is good with chips. and the liquor is dirt cheap too. read more

Horrible customer service!!! I had a question for manager while i was checking out which i had a lot. The cashier page 5 TIMES 5 TIMES!!! for manager and nobody came. By this time i was already frustrated and annoyed. When i was done checking out the manager comes to checkstand. She was a lady with long curly hair which i have seen her chatting with her co worker and not pay attention at all. Its Superior Grocers and i think its the best grocery store around these days. They have the best customer service and they make you feel as one of their own. Other grocery stores ignore the customer and you rarely see any employees interacting with each other and the customer. At Superior Grocers they are all one one big family helping the community. I love all these stores especially the one in North Hollywood. You know you shop there so dont hate on them they are trying to help the community with their low prices during these hard times.
