    Lots of empty shelves
    Ellen M.

Do not visit the grocery stores on the OBX on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. These are the change over times where new residents move in for the week. We knew this, but forgot a few things for dinner and ended up going anyhow. Lots of empty shelves, very little social distancing and frustratingly long lines even though lanes were empty.

This is a totally inappropriate donation box in the food lion.

Close, clean supermarket to Nags Head rentals. They seem to be fair prices, which is good because sometimes in a beach enviroment the stores love to raise their prices for everything. When I went in September they had a creepy baby in a nic case where you could put money in to help raise money for the local hospital. My one complaint is move out of their store because its in bad taste and just creepy.

Not too crowded when we shopped here, the staff members were friendly that we spoke to during checkout, and items are reasonably priced.

Arrived at the store at 8:55pm and the door was locked. Sign said they closed at 9pm.

Decent prices, close to our rental house and a nice selection of beers. When you need basics, this is not a bad choice.

Extremely rude staff. I went with my grandma to get groceries and the cashier Glenda was extremely rude to my grandma.

Good selection, good prices if vacationing in OBX and you need to grocery shop for the week - pretty much all departments.

Really nice little beach store…read more Very well stocked with items - almost anything you'll need while here - as well as a nice deli in the back for fresh items. We stopped in on our way to meet my mom and her friends who are renting one of the cottages just behind the store. We easily found parking and found the various little items my mom needed for the picnic/bbq inside. I grabbed a fresh spinach salad from the back area for $6.99 and it was delicious! So glad I did... tons of spinach, fresh fruits, cheese, sesame seeds and some really good ranch dressing. It was a huge portion for only $6.99 and if I had to come back, I'd grab the chicken Cobb salad for $8.99 without even hesitating. They have some snacks, drinks, ice cream and everything else up front as well as a small coffee bar. Friendly gals working inside made the whole experience very pleasant. Note - no public restrooms!

Cahoon's Market has been in business for what seems like forever and I always seem to make at least one trip there each time I'm in Nags Head. Typically I like to go to Cahoon's to buy stamps, mail postcards and get Nags Head gear. I feel like Cahoons is the only place in the Outer Banks where I can actually get a tshirt and other apparel that says Nags Head versus OBX, which I fully appreciate. I think most people probably visit Cahoon's to do a little grocery shopping or pick up a deli meal at the counter. For me, I mostly like to look at the stuff like games, sunscreen, and souvenirs. But I do tend to eye up ice cream and beer here too! Until recently I didn't realize that the deli actually has quality Boar's Head meats. I visited Cahoon's most recently during COVID and I appreciate that they are taking the pandemic seriously. When I visited they were providing hand sanitizer upon entry an requiring masks. Service was friendly .

As far as customer service goes, for the most part it is poor to non existent. I understand that there is a world wide shortage of employees but that excuse is not going to cut it as there were three standing in the middle of the produce section having a heated conversation with each other and plenty of employees through the store and a few at the open cash registers. The problem is the attitude and or possible lack of training in, for the most part, the seasonal employees. This was not a one time experience. I live here and I have shopped at this stores consistently since they first opened their doors. Many of the seasonal employees will barely acknowledge your existence as you step up to the register. I understand there may be a language barrier at times but anyone can be taught to smile and say hello. Groceries are packed with absolutely no care, usually so heavy you can barely lift the bag much less tote it up a flight of steps when you get it home. Three bags of sugar in one bag with a loaf of bread. The bread was not on the top and I could go on. Of course there was the one young lady who would ring up your groceries and immediately move on to the next customer with out offering to pack anything. Come on managers, you can do better than this.
