I like Food Basics. Last Friday, I needed to get some snacks and produce. I was in the area, noticed this bright-looking store from afar, and pulled in.
There is plenty of parking. It's in a huge plaza where I have ordered food from Little Caesar's in the past.
You cannot miss the gigantic sign in the parking lot that advertises a hot whole barbeque chicken. It's taller than I am! It made me think that folks should get a date by advertising that they are hot people... haha!
Anyway, I walked in. I was impressed. It is the nicest, cleanest, and brightest Food Basics that I have ever been in. Everything in produce was nicely organized and looked fresh. It was interesting that one can only get organic celery. Regular celery? What's that?
Prices are reasonable here. I got a bag of pork rinds and they didn't break my chequing account.
The snack sections are amazing. You are greeted with snacks when you first walk into the store. Go into the real snack aisle and you are sucked into practically every snack item known to mankind. East Indian? Yes, please! Pocky? Over here! I was in heaven. I don't know how long I was there, but I was definitely in my happy place.
The dairy department has lots of selection, from dips to creamers. It even has dairy alternatives, which I appreciated. I also wanted all the ice cream in that aisle.
I waited in line to pay, which was less than five minutes. The person checking me out was cheerful and competent. He asked if I needed a bag. Nah, I was good. I paid with a debit card, grabbed my goods, and left.
When I'm in the area, I'd definitely come back here. This store impressed me.
