I googled around and found that Total Computer Solutions was receiving some good press online. I called up to explain my situation and ask if they were able to help. I was abruptly told, "no on phone quotes". I asked if he could give me a ballpark answer and he said he simply couldn't. Running of what I had read online I took my computer in. Once in store he took a look at the computer and a whole three seconds later he knew it would take exactly $200 to fix. Pining for the use of my laptop again I agreed and paid the amount. Two days passed and I was asked to come and collect my computer. I came in and it looked pretty well fixed. I took it home and it turned on but I realized that the charger was still not sitting correctly inside the port. I could gain some basic functionality out of it but it was by no means fixed. I let it go, as I was still able to use my computer and wasn't prepared to pay for any other potential expenses. Two months later the port was once again totally un-operational. The reviews online are mostly positive and there would have to be some truth to that. My experience was mostly negative and I won't return. P.s. I do encourage those with contrasting opinions to post as it may of been a one off.

We headed in to Total Solutions Computers on Elizabeth Street (yes they specialise in laptop repairs, but are tech-savvy enough to deal with cameras). We were served by a friendly and frank staff member. He said that he'd have the camera sent away to be fixed (with an initial payment of $40) and since the repairers charge on an hourly basis, he could not give us a direct quote. As with most repairs on less expense electronics, the cost of having it repaired is generally equal to buying a new one. So she decided to purchase a new camera instead - I however would use these guys if (touch wood) anything were to happen to my laptop.

One time in particular, I sat there and waited and they were done in about ten minutes. Totally efficient, excellent workmanship. They're trusted by companies and individuals alike and can alter anything from pocket holes and pant legs to jacket arms (which is apparently pretty tricky).

I loved them because not only were they hella comfortable, but each time I wore them I felt a little Audrey Hepburn-esque. They made me feel polished, sophisticated and casually chic. They had a Chanel look to them without the price tag. I even went through a phase of not wearing them for fear of ruining them, but that's a story for another review. Well, sure enough as a pair of well worn shoes do, the sole gave up the ghost but I wasn't ready to give up on them yet. That's when I sent them into the shoe ER that is Hallelujah at the bottom of Broadway on the Mall (head towards the back of the food court to find this sole saver!). Within days my shoes were back to their prime and lasted for another 18 months before I finally had to say goodbye. All in all the repair set me back maybe $20 or $30 which compared to what I paid for them was a pittance. The guys at Hallelujah have also saved a handbag that for sentimental reasons (it was a gift from my oldest and dearest friend) I couldn't accept was gone for good. They repaired the leather and when they say invisible stitching they mean it. There was no telling on a glance that this well loved handbag had had a few cosmetic touch-ups. For reliable, quality and affordable service I'll always head to Hallelujah!

I've seen someone having been told by a jeweller that their quartz watch needed a service for hundreds of dollars, they took it to Ian who was able to tell them all it needed was a new battery and did that on the spot. Surely someone with a whole shop dedicated to engraving is more capable than the silly head at Mr Minit who ruined my trophy (way to hold a grudge, Siobhan!). I often come here and ask If I could get my pants/jeans etc altered within the hour and irrespective of how busy they are they always achieve this without a hassle. They are always friendly and accommodating and I have never been disappointed with the result, on top of that they offer some of the cheapest alterations around. Even the more complex and time consuming alterations like those associated with suiting and leather goods they seem to do it with ease and for an exceptional price. I have had friends get wedding dresses made and altered, clothes made from fabric cut offs they have had lying around, silk saddles put into jeans, moth holes repaired and restored, everything you can imagine they offer. CBD Dry Cleaners is absolutely ideal if you live in the big tower blocks by the river and they provide exceptional service. Super convenient and speedy - drop your cleaning off before 9am and get it back at 4pm. Service is great - there is a super friendly young guy who often works on the reception desk and knows all the regulars and makes a very mundane cleaning drop off and pick up experience fun. Cannot be bothered to clean your shoes? No problem, these guys will polish up your shoes for $10. I gave in a really battered pair of shoes and they came back a treat. They were even kind enough to have replaced my blue shoe laces which were frayed and broken which I thought was a super brilliant touch. I have also used their alteration and repair service. Suit trousers are always too long for me and they pin them up and get them cut just right. They can also do those really annoying jobs like popping buttons back on and mending seams that have come undone. Overall these guys offer a quality job at very reasonable prices.
