Calentado, even though usually for breakfast ( rice & beans, chorizo plus fried egg) is unbelievably good here. 4 star ambience: inside it's slightly tattered but authentic. Overall the food and service is good but the place is def over priced. The bandeja Paisa is $25 and normally you'll find that under $20 most places and it comes with steak (this place only does pork, chicken, or Molina). Then, a small bottle of aguardiente is $70 which equates to two maybe 3 rounds of shots for 4 people. The ambiance is great place and feels like you're in Colombia. Lastly, if you check in on Yelp it says you get a 10% discount. I presented this to the waitress and she had to call the manager who claimed this promotion "expired" even though the apps says it's active. This place was good but I was expecting more because of all the other Colombian restaurants I've eaten at. It was very colorful inside. Outside it kinda seemed that you are about to walk into a suspicious place but not too bad. The service was okay, not great. They had a bar and made us good drinks. We went at like 4 pm so it was pretty dead lol. There was like a stage so I assume that it gets pretty upbeat later. They have these fun/naughty signs to hold up while you take a photo in the front. The only reason I'm not raving about it is because of the food. My bandeja paisa was lacking some flavor. And my girlfriend got a dish that came with a steak but they gave her ground beef instead because they didn't have steak(?). That was weird and it put a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended). Well, this was an interesting first time visit for me earlier this month. It was my first time here at around 10PM. The place was empty with just two or three occupied tables. A band eventually started playing music after 11PM and the place for a bit more busier. Around 2AM this night, I noticed some back and forth from city officials including police. Lights turn on and band stops playing. Waitresses start coming around to charge every table. No information as to what's happen except that we have to get out immediately. It was not until I overheard a cop telling a couple at a table who were still eating that this place was being ran illegally at the moment and the owner had to get his paperwork straightened out. In the very moment, the place wasn't even supposed to be running. So why proceed and charge everyone if you weren't even supposed to be running this restaurant in the first place? The audacity! I am a Colombian and sometimes I just miss food from home. My sister came to his place a couple of week ago and had the ajiaco and had been raving about it ever since. We decided to meet here on a Sunday afternoon. You can't miss it, it is a stand alone building the entrance is colorful and there is a small parking lot in the back. When you walk in there are a whole bunch of decorations and signs on the walls that are funny to read. Our waitress was super attentive and she was there anytime we needed something. Now I am Colombian and my favorite dish is the Ajiaco which was naturally what I ordered but it was also what everyone at the table ordered. It was yummy the flavor was good but it was a little watered down I would have loved it if it was a little thicker. I loved the appetizers the chicharrón was so good that we ordered two of them and the patacón was fresh and crispy. We just wanted to have a couple dunks and maybe some food but were told upon getting there that there was a $120 minimum we had to spend, basically to have the honor of patronizing their place we had to buy a bottle. We skirted around that for a bit because the hostess said the bartender might make an exception. The place was almost empty. Fantastic soup! The sancocho and the ajiaco are both staples in a Colombian household and both dishes here remind me of home. I need to return and try more of the menu, but so far, the soup hits the spot, the avocado is full of flavor, the arepas are traditional, and the fried plantains were fresh, never frozen! read more

Came here last night with my boyfriend. I am by no means an expert in Colombian food, but I am an ex-New Yorker who has lived in Queens previously, so I have had my fair share of amazing Colombian food. The food at this place was very delicious (special shoutout to the carne asada in my bandeja paisa - it was absolutely stellar). The carne asada is tender, juicy and extremely well seasoned and I would HIGHLY recommend. The bandeja paisa certainly did not disappoint. I also would recommend the arepa de carne... the sauce that comes with it is a little spicy but tastes so delicious. Lastly, the jugo de mora (blackberry juice) is amazing and I also highly recommend. I'm giving 5 stars not just for the food, but also for the ambiance. We came here at around 9pm and the music was blasting. It was a wonderful mix of vallenato and salsa and I will definitely be back to party on another occasion. read more

Located in the less tourist demanding area of little Havana, is this picturesque Colombian restaurant. I absolutely love the decor. It is authentic and a place where you can appreciate culture. Miami is full of Cuban restaurants, so when I find a place from another Latin American country, that is not comercial (nothing wrong with the comercial) , but that is rather unique and authentic... ZERO STARS. Management and staff is a joke. I arrived at 730 pm and the waitress NEVER mentioned the kitchen was closing 2 hours early. I always read online to avoid this exact problem and they did not update their hours or warn PAYING GUESTS that the kitchen was closed so early. The manager avoided me and was unprofessional in handling the situation. All staff was sitting around in corner and took forever to come over and tell us we couldn't order food. Out reservation was for dinner, but we had to wait for bar hours because they were still setting up. It just didn't make any sense. They could've at leas let us wait by the bar. I was just glad I didn't have heels on while waiting outside! 3) The only food you can order after 9pm is picada (For 3). But since we were mainly couples, we got one per couple. It wasn't bad, but I had better and with a reasonable price - Not $32. Who do they think they are? 4) The music is way too loud, so unless you're there to party you're good- Try not to talk much because you would really need to scream 5) We wanted to order drinks after we were done with our food, but clearly our reservation was only for food even though we couldn't order much from the menu. And then the only way to get drinks was to get a bottle... To summarize it all we got horrible Service! We decided to close the check and leave. Now, about the check; 6) it includes gratuity but the waitress was trying to get us to tip more on top of that, as if they deserved it! In my opinion, Tip Is not something you ask for, Is something you get from your customers when you give them good service! True colombian place, yet I've had betters! this past weekend my husband felt like having some Colombian food and we happen to be in The Roads neighborhood. My husband used our favorite app (i.e. Yelp) to find a colombian restaurant that was around and came up with La Fonda Chismosa. Coming into the restaurant you can tell it's a colombian restaurant due to all the decorations. The place had a few tables as we came in and by the time we received our food the amount of tables had double which increased our confidence in regards to the quality. I ordered a Mondongo and my husband ordered the Sobrebarriga Llanera, both dishes were low in sodium and the taste was not all that great, we've had betters. My husband ordered a corn arepa with cheese and it was o.k., again we've had better. There were 2 servers taking care of the place and they did a decent job, however the food did take a bit of time. The place had a big sign of a concert coming up, it seems this is what this place is know for not necessarily the food; they had a stage in the back. The place does need some improvement in terms of cleanliness, I stopped at the restaurant and it really needs some improvement also there was no changing table for babies. Overall, I would say is more of a place to have a drink maybe on those days that they have concerts.
