Don't let the "Flooring" part of this business name sway you. In addition to hardwood, laminate…read moreand tile floors, they do all forms of finish carpentry work, trim, doors, and other interior home renovations. And on this, it's rare to find a contractor who takes such obvious pride in his work. Even more rare to find this in an owner, Francisco, who does the work himself, alongside a helper who also takes the time to do quality work. You can see this in the amount of time they spend on prep work, and attention to detail. Little things like floating low spots to ensure the floor is level, to putting up plastic around the work area to contain the dust. A true craftsman with years of experience. Francisco is not like other firms with front-office overhead and perhaps flashy marketing. Instead, you'll see him driving an old, work-horse of a van, as it's the job that really matters to him. I think Francisco's owner-as-worker business model gives him a competitive advantage in beating out other contractors, as he was the lowest bid on my glue-down hardwood floor job. His price introduced me to him. But his quality won me over. I've since had Francisco install new double doors for a home office, and will be using him for new countertops in the kitchen. My only regret is that I don't have more work, that I can send his way.

Francisco and his employee were professional, efficient and got right to work. They took out my old damaged plank flooring, a damaged portion of particle board and baseboards then installed new particle board, new LVP flooring and painted and installed new baseboards, they even applied touch up paint I requested to walls and left the place spotless. All work completely in less than estimated time ! I couldn't be happier. Highly recommend H & S Flooring.

Raul came out, gave us a quote, and we wanted to move forward. We met with Raul to pick out tiles, all seemed great. He was very friendly, and told us he would be going on vacation but could start after. He told us it would be 2 weeks to complete the job. I even confirmed again later in text because I needed it done by a certain date for a party we are hosting and need a bathroom for, and he assured me again only 2 weeks. The company reached out and ended up giving me a start date while Raul was still on vacation, but we were fine with that. The communication of who was coming each day and what their scope was each day was good. They texted each night. That was where their strong communication pretty much ended. I was told by Raul someone would reach out to talk about the toilet and sink options. They reached out asking me if I had picked out what I wanted yet, and I wasn't aware I was supposed to be sending them links, so I quickly did some research and started sending links of what I wanted. By the time the second week ended, all that was done was the tile floor and the tile in the shower and shelf. No toilet, no sink, no medicine cabinet, no storage, no wall lights. We confirmed the next week and they said it should be done by the end of that week, now making it 3 weeks. That information was not offered, I had to reach out and ask for a new finish date because we were now past the 2 week mark I was assured of. They continue to come out that 3rd week and got more work done. The toilet that they had picked up and been storing in our garage for nearly a week was apparently damaged and used, but by that 3rd week, they hadn't checked the box yet so they had to go return it. They didn't have that same model so they had to go and get another toilet at a different store. By Thursday night of the 3rd week, there wasn't much left to do, so we assumed they would finish when we were at work on Friday. I didn't hear anything from them the night before and then when we got home from work that Friday, they had never come back to finish. So I texted again, because now we're moving into the 4th week, and I was told that all they thought they had left to do was the shower curtain rod. They had not put the fan cover on, they left a hole in the wall near the sink, the smart toilet was not hooked up, one of the electrical plugs for the toilet was still a hole and was not done, they had not put the wall lights up, AND they had not done the shower curtain rod. The fact that the company themselves didn't even know that they had that much work left means that they aren't even communicating with one another. Also, if they did think that all they had left to do was just a simple shower curtain rod, why wouldn't they have just come out that day and finished the last bit of work. I texted and sent pictures, and Raul tells me that he's sending out two guys (it is now about 3:30 on Friday) and that they would be there in 20-30 minutes. A little over an hour later, they finally show up, and they were here for probably about an hour or so and did get the job done, finally giving us our bathroom back. They did not pick up any of the cardboard they had taped all over our floor so I did that myself, they left nails and wall shavings on the ground so I vacuumed and swept that up, they left all of the tape up around the edge of the shower so my husband pulled that off himself, the bottom of the tub was covered in dirt and foot prints where they had walked on it in boots and never rinsed it out, and there was scuff marks on the new tile (I assume from moving the toilet into place?). They also plastered over some of the tape around the edge of the shower and left it, so when we went to try and remove the tape it is plastered to the wall and can't come off without us pulling off small pieces of the new plaster, so you can just see some blue tape sticking out. By this time, I was just so frustrated, and I just wanted it done and didn't say anything about them not cleaning up behind themselves and leaving it for us to do. We did get a smart toilet installed and a couple days later, I start looking it up because we're trying to figure out how to control the toilet, and I see that it's supposed to have a remote. So now we don't have a remote to control the settings on our smart toilet, after everything else. I texted asking if they put the remote somewhere because now we can't control all the settings on the toilet, which means we have to get a replacement from the manufacturer. I'm not sure if they took it with them or threw it away? I have not heard a response from them yet, but I have now reached out to the manufacturer myself because I need the remote. Not sure what that is going to cost me! Overall, the experience with this company was extremely disappointing.

So, I need to first share a short disappointing story, but I promise it has a GREAT ending:…read more Originally, I was waiting for a different flooring company to come over to evaluate & quote both our bathroom floors. These two bathrooms had W-to-W carpet (not a fan of W-to-W carpets in bathrooms.) I scheduled w/ the different company 1 to 2 weeks in advance for a quote and made other plans accordingly. On the day of, the other company was supposed to come over as scheduled but they were already delinquent 1/2 an hour. Instead, I get a phone call from one of their field techs asking me if they could change the meeting time, made excuses on why they couldn't come on time, etc... Instead of getting angry, I made an excuse and said, "let me get back to you..." NOT - cynical/ devious I know, but I am tired of those types of companies not properly calling in advance and rescheduling accordingly. In the meantime, I politely hung up with the infamous field tech, went on YELP, and started looking for 5-star flooring companies. I noticed this: CENTRAL VALLEY FLOOR DESIGN company, I called and spoke with Ben S. (S - For Savior-lol); I explained my situation, and that same day, NO JOKE, Ben came out - evaluated, and quoted my floors, and later that day we tentatively agreed on a floor type, even went to their showroom days later and looked at other alternatives and decided on the original floor type. No pressure, no bad attitudes, no excuses, and in my opinion the price was fair. We had a very pleasant experience! So, my bride and I scheduled for them to come out in a few weeks because of schedule conflicts. CENTRAL VALLEY FLOOR DESIGN field techs came out as planned and on time, and completed both bathrooms in one day, with no issues. We were VERY, VERY HAPPY with the product and my wife received her early Christmas present. If I could give more stars I would. YES, as of 12/16/22, we recommend CENTRAL VALLEY FLOOR DESIGN to our friends and neighbors...

Carlos came by and made sure that the special work that I needed to have done was understood by the installers to make sure the transitions were exactly how I wanted them. I would recommend them and will call them in the future when I need them. We chose the Metro Spirit II carpet in Heirloom color. It was a little darker than the sample, but that worked out better for us. We chose this carpet because it is green for our grandbabies and durable for our dogs. Our dog throws up on the carpet often and we need something that would look well and clean up easily under these conditions. It is working out well for us. For the bathrooms, we chose Adura Rigid Rectangle Vienna in Alabaster. I have wanted something unique like this in my home for 5 years. I like white in my bathrooms, and the rugs get dirty too fast. They look like tile without being cold on bare feet. We also had new painted baseboards installed. This has provided a very finished look.
