I feel I am in great hands with Dr. Roffis and his whole team is friendly and highly responsive to questions over the phone and in the office.

I saw Dr. Dupuis, he was great.. professional yet personable, and witty without the use of tired, corny eye jokes my eye doc back home uses. I originally had just planned to just buy a pair of replacement contacts, but Dr. Eric took the time to check my contact lens prescription to ensure it was still accurate...it wasn't. He gave me an emergency pair of contacts with my updated prescription. Their pricing on lenses was less than what my eye doc back home charges so I ended up ordering more through Eyecare Center to have mailed back to my home. The only negative is the fact they're located in Boulder and not where I live, otherwise I'd be switching to Eyecare Center & Dr. Eric for my eyecare needs. Since a review has not been posted for Envision (Boulder CO) since Dec 2024, thought now might be a…read moregood time - in light of my recent experience - to revisit the reviews to learn if anything has changed...especially when it came to the atmosphere...and how patients are treated upon arrival, during exam/adjustments, and through post-visit follow-up...and here's what I found... - Atmosphere/attitude - patient-waiting area, receptionist, etc. continues to be as previously described (uncaring, methodical, rote, patient-unfriendly); - Exam (initial measurements) - Assistant (Sirisai) was very friendly, helpful, exacting, willing to entertain/explore questions/concerns presented; - Exam (Dr. Israelson) - very professional, thorough, focused, appeared caring, etc. during exam; however, comprehensive report requested by the patient (me) and provided via email was incomplete...and did not contain pertinent information that could be referenced in the event of an out-of-state/country visit/emergency (based on comparison to reports from other optometrists); - Eyeglass adjustment area - helpful, courteous, etc. - Post-visit Patient classifications (new vs. existing; self-pay vs insurance) - unusual/disincentivizing approach; Responses to email/request were inaccurately read/comprehended and, therefore, inaccurately, incorrectly and/or inappropriately responded to - creating extra work to ensure request was appropriately acted upon as requested by patient; and . Requests for access/retrieval of records/images (Optomap) were not user-friendly (despite techno-skills)...actually the process was a bit convoluted. Based on past reviews (summarized below)...it appears that not much has changed - especially with those critical core values that directly impact the patient and their relationship with the practice.... I hadn't been to an optometrist in years because I didn't feel the need. That all changed one morning when I woke up with an intense case of pink eye. The Envision Clinic was able to get me in so quickly, and Dr. Israelson was incredible. She was kind, knowledgeable, and supportive, instantly putting me at ease. She prescribed treatment that worked immediately, and during our conversation, she took the time to discuss how eye health can often reveal other potential medical issues, including signs of a brain cancer recurrence--something that resonated with me deeply, as I'm a brain cancer survivor. A few weeks later, once my eye had healed, I returned for a comprehensive eye exam. I've never had such a thorough and thoughtful evaluation in my life! Dr. Israelson's attention to detail was unmatched. Although The Envision Clinic doesn't accept insurance, their pricing is very reasonable, and the quality of care is worth every penny. Dr. Israelson identified a slight astigmatism in my left eye and some mild degeneration in my LASIK correction. She explained everything clearly and practically, helping me understand why LASIK wouldn't be a good option for me again and recommending glasses specifically for driving and nighttime use to reduce glare. Her advice was incredibly practical and tailored to my unique needs, especially as someone with a complex medical history. The clinic itself is top-notch. It's clear they invest heavily in advanced equipment, staff training, and staying up-to-date with the latest research. They also have an impressive selection of frames--from trendy and fashionable to truly unique designs. Although I'm moving from Boulder to Denver soon, I'll happily make the drive back to see Dr. Israelson. She's one of the most compassionate and competent medical professionals I've ever encountered--and I've worked with many doctors over the years. I had already sent a child and gone myself to appointments (annual for the child with glasses, my following up on a now long term concussion) and insurance covered those appointments. I had no reason to believe that annual, regular (preventative) exams would not be covered. (I had believed that it would be part of our medical, not having used this under our current insurance before -- our plan with Kaiser included annual optometrist checks -- and Dr. Nunn was listed as an in network medical provider on the insurance page with no notations for how that would be covered despite my being logged in AND we had met our family out of pocket maximum). They have paperwork with a variety of clauses but it was verbally altered to include that the regular exam may not have inclusion of all the tests they use. I figured even $50 for additional testing they believe necessary might be okay since I otherwise should have no liability. In addition, when I walked in for the first set of appointments (2 children each date, one week apart), I was told they couldn't confirm my insurance so I actually called member services, confirmed they were in network and that the standard exam should be covered -- I noted what it was for and my expectations -- and then put the receptionist in touch with the insurance company. (Did I mention I sent the insurance information to them ahead of the appointments?) Fast forward 3 weeks and I get a bill for over $500 for the first 2 appointments. Now, here is the problem: The receptionists did not have the knowledge to answer my insurance coverage questions, and instead just rushed me to add my initials to the several disclaimers on their paperwork. When I asked about the refraction exam disclaimer (which notes that some insurances do not cover it) , they simply said "that might not be covered." (I took that specific risk but the clause that insurance may not cover standard exam seemed extraneous based on the phone call to member services and sending the info along to reception.) As I continued to fill the paperwork, I did everything, and then proceeded with the routine exams. The exams seemed fine, Dr. Nunn seemed mostly good (she had missed something on my exam but a specialist caught it so maybe it was just an unusual catch for low level reading glasses adjustment -- huge for my concussion related migraines but not necessarily super regular need). Now, however, her billing representative told me that since there are so many insurance plans they can't possibly know ahead of time if there is coverage. This ignores that they had previously billed the same insurance for myself and one of my other children (prior to our meeting our deductible and out of pocket max) and they had those accounts to guide at least some knowledge of the plan.They also have an electronic system to connect to my insurer and could have checked before the day of service. I have now paid over $1000 for four appointments. Her biller left me a message that if there were symptoms like headaches, that could change the insurance coverage. First, one of my kids did note that several times so they didn't make proper notes that day and second, this seems to be asking me to note symptoms after the fact to deal with their incompetence with the insurance (and someone less scrupulous may have made something up and participated in insurance fraud).The total bill was over $200 more, by the way, than the private pay cost that I was offered (at the same time I was asked about symptoms in a voicemail that I have retained) which was revoked with no notice.  The office may look fancy but their billing and record keeping practices (in my experience) are a real question.
