The new lenses were a little off. They made me a little dizzy walking around with them. I told the optician my concerns, but her responses were repeatedly a dismissive "weird" and "interesting." Only saying they were the same prescription. Fine, but I could not see as well as the original ones. Even after I mentioned that I've had glasses not right at other places, they had been able to adjust them perfectly, and could she try that? She made a slight adjustment to the nose piece and told me to wear the lenses for a few days. That was silly, as I should be able to see through them as perfectly as the originals...and they made me dizzy! The fact that she was so unwilling to help was incredibly frustrating. Ultimately, I had to refuse the new lenses and have my old ones put back in. Her immediate "okay" showed a complete lack of concern. I am disappointed that spending $700 gets me this kind of customer service. If I could have seen clearly, I obviously would have walked away with them. I drove from Boulder to get them. She was completely unconcerned that these did not work for me. Glasses are expensive. Go somewhere where your vision is important to them.

Over the years as UCH presence in Boulder grew, more and more specialties started serving here, adding to the Primary Care available since the mid 1990s. As this new larger facility out on Arapahoe, they had room to add a branch of the eye care facility. I use it for many things these days. Though they don't do surgery in Boulder, they do serve patients here as they have some general ophthalmologists, some specialists from Anschutz who come up part time and an eyeglass provider. I have seen my retina specialist here for a few years. They have come once or twice a week from Anschutz as available. They have their scanning equipment here. I have gotten my new prescription here with the general team, have had my new glasses ordered here and gotten my regular scans and retinal care here. Today I was in to just get the newest glasses adjusted. I recently had my scans and Doc consult. The staff (I saw Bill today) at the glasses shop has been very helpful, with a decent selection of frames too, as is the reception staff for the facility. Parking can be tight depending on time of day, because there are multiple groups in this building, but compared to Anschutz, this is a piece of cake. I recently had to go to Anschutz for Urgent Care so I have a recent comparison. And the phone support of UCH was helpful in arranging that, since it includes coverage for the whole facility and could arrange the timing that day to get in to Anschutz as it was not a "Boulder day" for my provider. I am glad this convenient facility has eliminated so many highway trips yet kept available their full facility and support. I will continue to get as much care here as possible. But I do know if I need the services at Anschutz in the future their specialists are alway there for back up.

Conversely, this physician is argumentative and negligent. He makes absurd claims about why basic care, such as physicals aren't needed. Any procedure that he believes will receive any push back from the insurer will be rejected. I came in with a decent corporate insurance policy but after my experience today, I'll being having a conversation with our corporate leadership to assess why my indemnifier is allowing Hughes to accept our policy. Dr. Hughes lies about objective tests results. For instance, he lied about blood pressure at 142 not being hypertension. I'm middle aged and haven't had a physical in probably 30 years. I have a long family history of specific physical health problems and symptoms that started popping up be since I was an athlete. My watch indicates I'm in workout mode when I'm at rest and I asked for a very rudimentary test ( EKG) to rule out medical problems given my family history and symptoms. Dr. Hughes is uncredible and his medical findings and opinions aren't worth a dime. This explains why his practice is located in some obscure, dumpy office on the side of the road in Longmont. Reception are pretty rude as well. Strongly recommend finding a doctor who knows how to listen, who is diligent and has actually engaged in the practice of medicine instead of testifying for insurance defense or whatever it is he does besides scam for payment. Dr. Hughes is a condescending insurance whore. Don't waste your time and seek out a real physician who takes his practice seriously and doesn't engage in lying, bigotry and other tactics used by doctors busy sucking up to insurance companies for a living instead of treating patients. Avoid at all costs. As you can see from other reviews of the " practice ", it's clear that this physician and his staff have burned many bridges in the community.

The doctor was rude and abrupt, talking over us and claiming he didn't have time for the visit and rushed us out the door. Over a course of two weeks, we called consistently to ask for my partners lab results. We left several messages with the doctor assistant. We never received a call back. We also called the front office several times and never received the lab results. We were told that the office had an online website where we could check such things. However, when we went into the website no Labs were present and we were told that the website was a work in progress. This is one of the most unprofessional and unethical physician offices that I've ever been to. You guys really should be ashamed of yourselves.
