I also had symptoms of glaucoma for which he prescribed other drops and some pillls. Many months later, the blurriness was getting worse and worse, and he just said to increase the drops. I have finally gotten a second opinion and a thorough diagnostic procedure. It seems I have severe glaucoma and a block in the retinal vein. I have almost no vision in my left eye now, and the loss may be permanent! I waited way too long to find another ophthalmologist - because I trusted Dr. Kirk. Don't make the same mistake!! Show less

That went well. Everything was well explained. From there he got a Monday morning surgery appointment. Dr. Zhang did a great job. My husband had lots of concerns and questions and Dr. and nurse Chris were very thorough in their explanations. It's been about a month and his vision is pretty much back to normal except for the effects of the oil bubble (vs typical air bubble because we live above 8000') which will be removed in a few months when they're sure eye is completely healed. Our regular eye doctor has looked at Richard's eye and is very impressed with how well it's healing. We're grateful he saw Richard on a Friday night and set him up with Dr Zhang for surgery. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a similar need. They are a very busy practice, but are very well organized, pleasant, professional and caring.

On the other hand, there is a staff member there that can be very rude and passive aggressively judgmental with any option you choose that is not hers. At first, she comes off helpful, then she starts judging you and your choice of frames. To say the least, I felt belittled and not treated with respect. I normally don't go out of my way to submit bad reviews, but I wanted to share my experience to hopefully brace any future or existence customers that go to Carbon Valley Eye Care. It's unfortunate that that one experience is making me contemplate taking my business elsewhere. My suggestion as someone who has worked in customer service for 12 years, it might be a good idea to have some sort of frequent customer service training (there are plenty of online trainings that don't cost much and would really help staff make customers feel respected and welcomed) it's such a simple skill that unfortunately for some has to be learned.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Berger and Dr. Koditek for several years (long before they…read moreopened this office in Frederick. I do highly recommend them both however I cannot say the same for the office staff or the lab that makes their lenses. The glasses I purchased were loaded with all the extras (anti-glare, anti-scratch, polycarbonate, photo sun, etc.) however within a year I noticed that the lenses seemed cloudy and no amount of cleaning made it better. I took them to the office and they replaced the lenses under a 2 year warranty. Thought everything was good. Unfortunately when I went back to replace them again for the same issue (called crazing) I was told that they couldn't honor the warranty on the replacement lenses as the warranty only covered the first pair! Worse yet, the woman I spoke with insisted that the only way that this would occur is if I left them in extreme heat which I had not. It didn't matter, she insisted that "everybody does this when they take them off and leave them on the dash" (something that I never do!). It didn't matter, she was convinced that the issue was mine and only due to my leaving them in a high temp environment - couldn't be anything else! Interestingly my record showed these lenses being replaced twice for this issue and somehow I don't have any recollection of that. I suspect that it really is a quality issue with the lab that this office uses as I purchased a different set of glasses from an eye doctor in Firestone (scheduling issue trying to get in with CV Eye Care) and haven't had any issues with crazing of the lenses for that pair. My wife recently took her glasses back to CV Eye Care for the same reason (first time) and they replaced the lenses without any issue (she spoke with someone else). The lack of customer service from this woman and the real possibility that they are using an inferior lab for their lenses makes it clear to me that I should take my business elsewhere.

I posted this review on Google, and sharing here as well. Great doctors, horrible management. I'd…read moreleave zero stars if that was possible. In summary, the practice is BADLY managed. It has excellent docs IF and WHEN you can get an appointment to see one. The existing docs are tied up in more financially lucrative surgeries rather than maintaining a balance between surgery and eye exams for patients, despite having four locations in northern Colorado. I read the reviews and the management responds to bad reviews by leaving a note and asking reviewers to call the main phone number, which I am guessing is pretty useless but makes them look responsive to negative reviews. My family of five has been patients of this practice for over 20 years. However, the ability to schedule actual eye appointments in the past two years has gone down to almost zero. I had been seeing Dr. Mayer after my cataract surgery in 2021 and 2022, but last year, I experienced the beginnings of a macular hole in my right eye and could not get an appointment with him within six months. I was referred to a retinal specialist, Dr. Korotkin, who said my macular issue wasn't severe enough (October 2024) and dismissed me when I said I needed a new eyeglass prescription because "he didn't do that", like it was beneath him to spend another minute or two addressing or even empathizing with my concerns. I wasn't able to get an eye appointment with Dr. Mayer until March 2025 (they tried to put me off until May), and he immediately noticed that I actually had a severe macular hole. I then scheduled a visit with Dr. Gange (never going back to Korotkin), who I was able to see within a week, and had eye surgery within a week. Dr. Mayer suggested that I schedule an eye exam with whomever was available, so as I still needed a new pair of eyeglasses, I scheduled an eye exam with Dr. Poznic for August. I got a voicemail on Tuesday June 10th that he was not available that day but there were plenty of appointments the following week. I called later in the afternoon and the earliest I could get in would be October. So despite having 23 doctors on staff, there is not a single doctor who could give an eye exam at any of the four locations before October. I tried to leave voicemail for the person who canceled my appointment, but her voicemail said it might take five days for her to return my call, and directed me to NOT call back and leave multiple voicemails. It's unconscionable to cancel existing appointments and not immediately reschedule, then follow up with the patients who lost their spots. They should be prioritized on a waitlist, but none was available. In short, I have a follow-up for my macular hole repair in July but I will not be returning to the practice for any other services.
