We remodeled our bathroom this summer and needed framing for two passage doors - this is to convert a traditional passage door to a barn door to allow more space. We didn't know what we need to make the frame, but decided to try FMD since we needed baseboard too. We were pleasantly surprised by the selection and quality of baseboards, crown molding, etc. much better quality and more reasonably priced than Home Depot. Didn't take us long to pick out the baseboard. The staff was very helpful too. We explained what we want to do with our door, and he suggested a few wood frames for us to look at and how we would cut it to meet our needs. Vanessa at FMD was the BEST. She is a listener and recommends what I needed for my house. I went to different stores as I am going through major remodeling but once I met Vanessa, she was my go-to person for all remodeling needs. I even have her rude text only responding to me because I've written a bad review. Please, take the time to actually check emails and call logs before you respond with a one sided view of what happened. You should also take a look at your google reviews, it seems I'm not the only one who has had issues with FMD's customer service. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Giant waste of time! Avoid this place if you can! My correspondence was with a woman named Vanessa. At first she seemed super helpful over the phone. I told her that our company would be purchasing a lot of doors, and she kept promising that they were the cheapest prices around. I gave her measurements for several different types of doors for a few of our properties and she sent me invoices back. I gave her the go-ahead to order the doors. However, Vanessa told me it was necessary to send her guy out to measure my door jams? After she sent out her guy, my quote for 8 standard 3 panel shaker doors went from a little over $2,000 to over $6,000! After a bit of back-and-forth, she admitted that she was quoting me for 20 Doors instead of 8 at one of our properties, because she figured we needed 20 Doors for some reason? This should have been a red flag here. However, all other door companies are on back stock until mid-January, so I figured I would give them a try since Vanessa said the doors would be in within two to three weeks. After that was corrected, I asked her to proceed with my two separate orders. She never did. I've literally sent three separate emails, sent four follow-up text messages, and left a voicemail in the past 3 days.  This company is awful and a giant waste of time! I dropped by on a weekend and get a quote for a door and knob for our bathroom. Later on I called and get told I need to be in the store to make the order, which the staff didn't tell us last time when I dropped by. So I dropped by again to make the order. while the staff helped order the door from vendor right away, she mentioned it might takes weeks for the door knob to be ready. Then she told me to pay first, and call her later to get the follow-ups and decide if I still want the knob or cancel it. after few days, I tried to call FMD to reach her couples times across couples of days, also leaving voice msg as well. But I never heard back, even though their manager, Ali, always said she will do it when available. Then the WORST part came! finally i called again and asked about when she actually can give me a call back, Ali is really rude and yelling "we are crazy busy, if you want more information please go to store physically like other customers". WOW DONT YOU BELIEVE THIS? I am really disappointed that they dont care customers after they took your money. And even more funny, if they don't want to answer the call, DONT tell your customers they can before make a payment. It is really sacarstic that they put " Our customers are our valuable assets. We had great customer experience here working with Mosen and Patrick! These two gentlemen deserve a raise or promotion for the level of service and overall friendliness towards customers. We came in for baseboards 15-20 minutes before closing. All the other people on the sales floor were not too attentive of us, so I cannot speak to their quality of service, in fact they seemed a little standoffish. Mosen on the other hand made eye contact with me asked if I needed help and proceeded to find the right baseboard for my situation. Once we chose the one we liked he and Patrick helped load it onto my car spending well over 30+ minutes to ensure the boards were secure and can make the trip back home. They were patient and cared for the overall safety making sure the straps were tight at every angle. These guys rock! We made it back happy and safe, ready to begin install this weekend. Price was definitely more reasonable than local hardware stores too like Home Depot or Lowes. Do yourself a favor and ask for Mosen and Patrick! read more

The customer service is very poor. I spent over 30K in flooring. They charge a premium when compared to other places with the promise of good customer service. But it ended up being all about them. When time came for delivery they dragged their feet and caused the project to be delayed. The sales rep Homer said he had too much business and was tired of working 6days. When I called them to check, they sounded inconvenienced. I am writing to warn others to save your money and get the same brands elsewhere. I like my Monarch flooring. Monarch owner promptly responded when I wrote on their website asking about transitions. When I explained my issues getting support from FMD, he didn't know them and recommended several other stores listed on their site. Seriously, get your floors elsewhere. read more

I needed additional floorboards for a repair job. But all the other flooring stores I visited couldn't help me. When they checked with the manufacturer, they all told me that my floorboard model was out of stock with no ETA. Thankfully, my contractor recommended that I contact Homer from FMD Distributor. And to my amazement, Homer indeed worked magic that all the other stores couldn't. He told me he knew all the key contacts at the manufacturer--and indeed he pulled through, managing to locate and order sufficient stock for my job. My contractor picked it up the same week from FMD. I called looking for plywood, the first time I called it went straight to voicemail so I called back, I got a man with a thick accent, after yelling some thing at someone there, he asked if you could help me. Then he didn't seem to know what plywood was or if they had it. Then he asked me if I was looking for a specific kind, MD something like that. And he went to transfer me, so I hung up and called another lumber yard. The conversation was just surprising how rude he actually was why he would be answering the phones, I have no idea. read more

I have had a terrific experience in the 5 times I have used this company. The owner personally assisted us in explaining various product choices and even recommended a less expensive product of comparable quality. We have purchased moulding, doors, flooring and counters from them over the past few years and I have also worked with their competitors as well remodeling homes, and I consistently find them very, very good to work with. Especially when it comes to product knowledge and pricing. I have read some of the less favorable reviews here for FMD, but it would appear that they are written by folks used to shopping at Home Depot or a more commercial enterprise, where the quality and installation knowledge by the representative just can't compare to the product variety, quality and depth of knowledge this place offers. It's like going to a custom shop, versus a department store; FMD is custom, excellent, and is worth any extra effort to connect if you want a great result. If you get put on hold or don't get a fast call back, so what? They are really good and can be busy, as this is not Ace Lumber... But the effort is worth it if you seek good quality materials at a good price and installed expertly. We are going back again for our next project, fireplace mantels, and give these guys 5 STARS, because they've earned it. read more

One Star. I wish I could give them negative rating. Completely unprofessional and rude staff. Their staff have terrible attitude and are very arrogant. They act as if they are doing their customers a favor by selling their goods. I was told that in order not to damage my car I should have got a truck instead of my regular car for carrying baseboards. I asked them to place the baseboard carefully in my car and their response was that I should have got a truck and that it is inconvenient for them to place baseboard in cars. The staff was so explicit that he sad "Don't bring a car next time." What nonsense? EDIT: Sam from the store called and apologized for their behavior. I hope no one else will be treated this way in the future. I appreciate them taking the responsibility and accepting their mistake. Hence changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. read more

Came here to pick out some white baseboards for my room since I am remodeling it. They have some great selections of crown moldings, baseboards, carpet, hardwood, etc.to choose from. I really like the way they display their stuff because you can actually see what it looks like, the actual size, etc. After choosing the one that you want, you just have to let the staff know and they will take care of the rest. After payment, you would have to go to the back of the warehouse to pick it up. I would have to say that the service here were extremely helpful, nice,and friendly. There's just two things about this place that can definitely be improved.. in other words, what I didn't like. First, I was a little annoyed that they were very limited on some of their supplies. I had to go with my third option because the first two were not available or they didn't have enough to cover just one small room. Second, there were some cracks on my baseboards. I didn't notice it until I have already installed it. It was only a few lines here and there but it was definitely noticeable so I had to put some spackling paste on it.. Will never shop here again. They are not reliable and when they sensed I needed the extra door the price magically increased by 24%. In two weeks! First sales man was decent but said it is up to the second guy. Well - they lost business because I am not shopping here. Owner's response is a joke: supply chain caused a huge price increase a week later?! When I told them this - they looked at each other and could NOT confirm there was really a price increase the week before. don't buy anything from FMD! you can visit the shop and check the doors you like and place the order from home depot or other places. The price FMD offers is at least 25% higher than home depot (same model, same brand, same size). I asked the sales if there's any discount, he said the prices on the catalogue are already 20%. that's totally bs. And the attitude is so bad. If you care about your money, never buy anything from FMD. read more

This review is a little overdue. We had carpet replaced with Mirage Rio hardwood about six months ago. Went with a floating click-lock install to not have residual VOCs from any glue. Homer @ FMD is the real deal, knows hardwood options well and suggested simple ways to cut costs ( such as using lower cost color matched off-brand nosing for closet boundaries where they are not visible. At $15/piece vs $70/piece from mirage, the difference adds up ). Easy to work with and kept us informed as Mirage has a 3-4 week lead time. Also came over to check on installation. We needed work in two places to fix warped subfloors and it took installer Willie almost two days to correct them. He did an excellent job and the additional charge was reasonable. Despite this, they held to the schedule and finished work on the 4th day. We had a color mismatched stair nosing show up and Homer worked with Mirage to get it replaced. That again took a couple of weeks to get (mirage distribution delay, not FMD) and Willie came back a second time to replace the mismatched piece. Very happy with the quality of mirage floors and FMD. Only gripe, if I may, is that FMD charges the same labor cost for nail, glue and floating installs. Other installers typically charge less for floating installs, same as vinyl planks. This was offset somewhat with the lower price I got for the wood, the trim and underlayment. Also, many of the installers do not do subfloor work, so this eliminated some other companies I had worked with in the past. read more

We purchased our floor through Homer at FMD Distributor and had them do the installation. This is where this one star rating comes in. On the first day of installation, I met Willie, the lead installer. I gave him a $100 tip for him to buy lunch for himself and co-worker for the three days they were to be there. On the second day I saw that both were eating their lunches from home. When I asked the other worker did Willie buy him lunch, he looked at me like I was crazy. This happened the second day as well. Willie pocket the money for himself. After installing the baseboards, I noticed several gaps between the walls and baseboards (common for non plumbed walls). We asked Willie if he was going to apply chalking and he said the painter needs to do it. Guessing he could not tell or smell the freshly painted walls we promptly told him that the walls had already been painted and are done. They still would not apply the chalking leaving gaps on every single wall. When asked why he did not drill the hole for the cable in our daughters room Willie said he was not going down to the crawl space to do so. Just drill the hole from the room you don't need to go to the crawl space!!! Damage to the walls. On one of the walls, at the baseboard, they tore the drywall (similar tear you would see when removing old baseboard) and another wall they jammed the baseboard in so tightly that it caused the two walls at the corner to crack up about three feet. And this is not counting the countless shoe and scuff marks on the walls throughout the house. Finally, cleanup or lack there of. They cut the boards in my backyard next to my pool and let the sawdust go flying into it. When they left, aside from removing the boxes and cut pieces of boards, they didn't vacuum or clean up . The following day it rained. Picture muddy saw dust all over your back yard and in your pool! When I addressed these items with Homer all he could say was thank you for tipping Willie. He is a good worker. When Homer just wasn't getting it or that I wanted my tip money back and compensation, I was so frustrated I hung up on him. The next day he calls saying I was yelling at him, I don't deserve that! Please forgive Willie on these "small mistakes." He is a good worker... (Hate to see their bad workers...) I also gave you a good price. You gave us the price? Maybe you did; we did not ask... plus he was hoping for lots of referrals from my wife (architect). I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY let alone put my name to it... Update 5-29-19 Email response from Homer. "good quality of installation." Agree to disagree... "Tipping the installer is not to do with my obligation for installation" Um where in my review did I say that it was? However, a reputable company would have addressed it... "we don't do cabling or other non installation related work." Who asked you to do cabling? Simply asked you to drill a hole like the other two room you did. SMH... My favorite... "Every major construction work has a little side effects such as touch ups and detail clean up after which is owner's responsibility." Anyone wishing to contact me to show you pictures please do so and you be the judge on "little side effects." Cleaning the saw dust out of the pool yea, that a small and simple job!
