Alright, here we go! When we arrived, there was a long line of people wanting to get in. That was a good sign. We sat at the bar (fine by me). We could see the head chef and other chefs as they heard orders, called em back and sent them out to the tables. The chef appeared friendly. It was incredibly busy so I didn't get my drink for a while. That was okay with me - our waiter didn't charge me for it! We got the catfish. The best part was the portion and the apple slices embedded in the cabbage. We ordered pasta (I can't remember the name). It was very, very good. The sizes are what wins me over. They're shareable and you won't leave feeling full. You'll leave feeling satisfied. Even though we weren't hungry after both meals, we got a kale salad fo' free! I recommend Flyover. I learned it is named because Missouri is a flyover state. So I must not be with the times because I had no idea that had any significance! Next time I hope to try the pretzels that are accompanied by fondue. A+ to our server as well! Really nice guy with a friendly attitude. That's my two cents. This is an excellent addition to the Columbia restaurant scene. I was a little skeptical of the family style "sharing" concept, as I know Broil tried to do this as well and had to change to a more traditional concept, but for two people it worked out very well. They do a good job of providing share plates and clearing as necessary so it doesn't end up too awkward. This is a great restaurant to bring a date as the concept works really well for two people. I am not sure how smooth it would be for a group of people unless you are really good friends and don't mind grabbing stuff off each other's plates. The food was excellent and the drink menu was impressive as well. I'm sure we will be back soon to try more items. read more

If you go you HAVE TO GET THE PRETZEL!! Hands down the best thing on the menu. It's pretty small inside, but worth the wait. I loved the atmosphere and all the dishes I ordered, though the pretzel takes the cake. It's definitely pricey, but I love the concept and will definitely be going back! read more

This is by far the best restaurant I've eaten at in Columbia. It was just by chance we picked it off yelp. The atmosphere is lovely. We had the fried cauliflower, poutine, and duck breast. All were amazing! The flavors were incredible. The service was wonderful. The portions are on the smaller side but I was sufficiently full when we left. I would recommend this to anyone who like to try new things. Edit: We just left there for a second time and it was just as amazing as the first time! My sons took me to Flyover for my Mother's Day surprise and it was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. The service was impeccable, Noelle took care of us in the most non obtrusive way and left us to enjoy our meal. The food was all delicious and perfectly prepared. We were there this past weekend. We had cocktails and small plates. The don't have entrees but if you want great drinks, wine and beer. Small plates were closer to medium plates. The were very unique and very good. Service was fantastic, as well. I don't give a lot of "5's" but this place deserves one. read more

I honestly think they might be the best restaurant in COMO. They have the most creative and delicious food. Everything I have tried is a blend of fresh ingredients with unique in flavors but not so unique that it is weird. The flavors just make sense. The staff is polite and have a relaxed vibe which is nice for a change....no hectic feeling at all. It's really fun to order a variety of plates and share with others in your party. I can say positively say that I am a self-proclaimed foodie! Fly Over was one of the best food experiences I have had in a couple months! We got there around 7:15pm on a Thursday evening and had a 25 minute wait for a table, which by Columbia standards is pretty average. We had a group of 6 and ordered 6 plates: Mac & Cheese, Margarita Pizza, White Pizza, Chicken Fried Cauliflower, Chicken Piccata, Butch Salad (I think), and Beef Carnitas (some of these names might be off because their website menu is not current). They serve your plates as they come out of the kitchen, so, everything comes in succession, which is awesome! The first thing out was the Mac & Cheese. It was piping hot, melty and crispy on top with breadcrumbs. Everything else is kind of a blur (ha), but man, that food is unforgettable! The whole table was moaning (not like that) and no words left our mouths until all the plates were pretty much scraped clean. My food experience at Fly Over was unmatched by anything else in Columbia right now. The staff is kind of like sneaky vultures, always watching and waiting to flip the table, but I can look past that based on the quality and execution of food! They also locally source most of their ingredients, which we all know is the best economical, community friendly way to go! read more

What is this place? Why does it exist? Came here because there were lines out the door when my wife and I ate at a nearby restaurant one night. The menu and prices are very misleading. If you want weird, this might be for you. They tell you from the start that all meals ordered are meant to shared, which makes sense when you see the price. But... the food is different to say the least. Blended broccoli for a "poutine gravy sauce" - but why? Not tasty, at all. One very small piece of fried catfish covered in some kind of lemon sauce - who's spending 15 dollars and getting full by themselves on this, let alone to share it? My wife and I ate here during a weekend getaway and loved it. The food is unique and served as it is finished. We shared each entree and they were all good. We had a seat at the bar right in front of the kitchen and got to watch first hand as the dishes were prepared. Absolutely delicious. It's a different type of dining experience as it's "Midwest sharing style" of small plates--you pass around and share. Everything comes out as it's finished so you don't get everything at once. My husband and I went for my birthday, got 4 plates and only finished about half of it. Best Mac and cheese I've ever had, and the pretzels with cheese dip was amazing. Also highly recommend the catfish. Our server was great, knowledgeable and very punctual. I was only able to stop in for a quick beer and cocktail with my wife, but the bartender was amazing! She was making some very unique drinks for the eclipse and was very sociable. I took a date to dinner for Valentines Day. We got to Flyover for 6:30ish. I found it on Yelp and it had great reviews for being an intimate eatery with small-shareable plates. I was worried initially though because they don't take reservations but we found seats at the bar. The barback named Chip was a nice guy, college-age, gave good suggestions on the menu. We ordered the mac and cheese as well as the homemade pretzels. Both tasty and delivered fresh to the table. The restaurant's vibe itself was as advertised, mood lighting with soft music. I would say it seats around 35. I have been to the Green Meadows area a couple times but never noticed Flyover as its tucked in the corner of the strip mall. The diners were mostly older (40+), but college students occupied most of the bar, which is all in a very close setting. No one was wearing mizzou apparel. read more

Wow! What a great restaurant. This is the kind of place I like to see pop up in our neighborhood. Good food with strong drinks. We went on a Friday night. They don't take reservations which left us hovering for a bit. The bar was attentive and kept us entertained until we were seated. There is enough space to hang out and relax while waiting for a table or chef's counter. Upon seating we noticed attention to detail with our place settings. This place is legit dining. At the same time not stuffy though. Is nice. Our server greeted us promptly and gave us plenty of info but also time to relax and decide at our leisure. We went with two waves of food. First wave was the chicken fried cauliflower and the mac and cheese. Second wave was the duck and carbonara. I was immediately aware of the fact that everything here is good. Prompt service, amazingly awesome food and very fair pricing. I almost feel guilty living 2 min away from such a thing. read more

Dishes are served plates-style, so you order dishes to share. The only thing for improvement is the seating: 2-top tables are too wide for a conversation; you're seated closely to other diners; they have 4-tops, but they didn't want to give one to our party of 3, so we had to kind of awkwardly make a 2-top work. It was find for us, bc we're close enough friends to cozy up on the bench, but this wouldn't work for everyone. It's a rather small restaurant with a large bar. Good food and excellent professional service. I was delighted by the duck cassoulet. Their house dressing on the salad really struck a chord with my palate. FlyOver is an elegant, little restaurant. Went there to celebrate a friend's birthday recently, and I enjoyed sitting at the bar area and watching the chef the meals. He was nice and let us pester him with our questions about the main dishes. I will say that the food is filling even though the plates look small. Their menu changes consistently based on the season and what produce they get from local business and farms. They have fancy food items and good wine. Their specialty cocktails are delicious, and it is cool to watch them make it at the bar since they are often intricate. Obviously, this place is on the pricey side, but the ingredients are high quality. I recommend taking family or friends here, but be sure to remember that this place is small and popular, so you may have to wait about an hour for a table. read more

Do not eat here if you have food allergies. We made it very clear to the chef and waitress we couldn't have dairy or eggs and were served food with butter which proceeded to make me sick for days and miss two days of work.
